1. Is my SO require to have a copy of my passport? I didn't see anywhere that my passport was needed along with Affidavit of Support.
2. Maybe David misread. If the NVC sent your paper work to GZ four months ago then it would be your wife that they are doing the background check.
3. Thanks David and thanks Pushbrk for such a quick answer. You guys are always so helpful.
4. I have seen the info here before but now can't find it. What do I need to send to fiance for K-1 visa? Is this correct? 1. Employment letter 2. Bank Statement letter 3. One year tax return(2005)+W2..(only 1 yr right?) 4. Notorized I-134 Do I need all, some, or additional? Am I missing anything I guess... Thanks in advance.
5. Ours were also sent on May 11 to GZ and My SO received the P3 a week ago. Seems like they should also have yours since it went out to GZ on the exact same day. I would call DOS and be persistent. Some people I reached at DOS is not very helpful but after 10 attempt, I reached someone that love Chinese songs and culture and she dug out the infos for me. She love Jackie Chan and Deng Lijun and even joke with me for a while. Keep calling until you get a person who is willing to help you.
6. Thanks everyone. This really help me understand what my SO was talking about. It isn't so bad at all but she was overwelm with all the texts I guess.
7. Hi Everyone, SO finally received the P3 package and was a little overwelm. I couldn't help her since I have no idea what's in it. She said it iclude form DS-230 and OF-167. Are they the right form? I read somewhere that it should be OF-169 instead. I couldn't find any info on form OF-167. Could they have sent her the wrong form? Also what does she need to do exactly? A little summary what what you're SO's done would be nice. I appreciate the help here and it's always been very helpfull. Thanks in advance.
8. Jany, Thank you for sharing your story. I'm glad you are okay now. I'm sure the incident in the wetland isn't for insurance money. You have something priceless that he wants, Cindy.
9. Hi everyone, How do I get status of my application once NVC sends the package to GZ?
10. Thanks everyone. I made copies of all the things I sent so I'll just forward it to them again. I just have to wait for SO to send me new digital passport photo.
11. I receive this letter from immigration to provide the exact same material that I provided when I sent the application . I called and ask why and if there was a reason for them to request for the same material such as passport photos, proof like plane tickets, photos together, etc.... and they couldn't tell me. The guy on the other line just say to send what they ask and he doesn't know why. I just want to know if I sent the same material will I have the same problem but he still doesn't know. Such a BS from immigration This is after waiting for 4 months. SO is so frustrate with this since she have to take new passport photo and now wondering if this will ever get done!
12. Everyone have good suggestions here. I might add that if she is younger like early twenties, she is more likely to show public affection. If she is in her late twenties, she is less likely to kiss you on the side of the street. Above all you should have no expectation. Expectaction always lead to dissapointment. Just go there with an open eye and open heart. Plan some out of town trip with her being your guide. Have her show you around town and just try to get to know each other.
13. I've sent a necklace value over $500 and stated on the shipping info without any problem. I packaged it very well. I also bought insurance for it. Maybe I was lucky.
14. I think the spitting is just disgusting. Last month in Xishuangbanna, our taxi driver sat next to us watching some local girls dance and he begin to eat his fish and start spitting the bones to the floor. I thought it was just disgusting. When I travel with my SO, we always carry napkins and wet cloth for washing hand before we eat anything. I use my hands to take out bones nicely not sticking my fingers inside my mounth. She never said anything. I also never saw her spitting bones. She use her chopstick to pick the bone from her mounth if necessary but mostly she pick only the meat to eat without the bone. I guess it is a lot easier for her since she doesn't like most meats. I think it is okay to use your hand as long as you don't stick it inside your mouth. Putting your hand inside your mouth is disgusting even here in US or anywhere. I guess I've been luck my SO never have problem with my eating habbits.
15. Seven (7) times in one year....... Holy Moly! 172243 Well, I think it is the only way of really getting to know my SO. I want to make sure that we are truely right for each other and what can I say, she insisted on seeing me all the time. I've used up all my vacation time that I saved up in the 3 years prior to meeting her. We really learn a lot from each other. This last trip has a little bit of everything and we both believe that we do truely love each other now.
16. Joanne, An excellent counterargument from a Chinese woman's perspective! I agree Yin and I are more traiditional in our thinking. However, she wouldn't have to ask! I am her husband, I should already know this. When in Rome do as Roman's. Your are marrying a traditional Chinese woman, do as Traditional Chinese families do. There are no questions needed to be asked, and would be a waste of time. You are expected to somewhat follow and definetly know her culture already. All the both do is to blend the best of each culture together. This another topic altogether. Sure they should! This a part of learning them better and learning their SOs value system Doesn't this beg the question that I raised when two people meet each other at a party? Who are you? They are rating you. These are questions that you and I would both ask. Did I ask my wife an exact Annual Finiancial Statement? No! This is crass. However, I definetly know what she does for a living, her past and I know how much she makes. After that it is an distrustful intrusion on their privacy. I should point out that this goes both ways. However, I point out to you how many countless times in not only this forum, but 001 forum and endless others, that the same inane question is being asked or being misunderstood by both? IMHO opinion they don't understand the culture, what is their SOs value system that is in their heart. This leads me to believe that many of the relationships are already on "rocky" ground. Fortunately, as I pointed out to Jim Julian and I posted and is inclusive of youi. These misunderstandings have been eliminated. We understand our spouses! Why would the question even be raised in a solid family? 171976 Cerberus, I did not express myself clearly (still don't know how, here). I don't really mean ask your SO those questions. Its just something I want to ask to the person who want money from her American SO. 172040 Joanne, My apologies to you for not reading clearly what you were stating. Comes with age sneaking up on you and hitting you from behind. I agree that the person that is asking for money should be asked by Western SO, what is it for? I saw some of the totals and to be honest $500.00 US Currency seems to me pretty high unless, she has a specific purpose. Most of the men and women that I know recieve about $300.00 USD. My wife gets on very well with about half of that amount and she gets this from her job. The only time that she asked me for extra money was to buy Chinese language books, language cards, and Chinese songbooks, calligraphy brushes and inkstones. She told me that she wanted to have them as teaching materials that she needed in the US. I previously set her up with several families to teach their adopted Chinese children about their culture! However, if I was establishing a relationship with anyone, I personally would ask. However, this is me! This is a part of the learning process between a man and a woman. 172045 I think that money should not be the topics in any relationship. Both of you should talk about it and understand the need of each other and then leave it alone. In the beginning I have problem with my SO why she need so much money but we went through all the details of her daily life and what she spends on and I agree with her needs. I agree that if you live in Shanghai, $500 is about the norm. This realy depends of your SO. My SO take taxi and love fruits and cleanliness so these things cost a little more. There is also the cell phone bill, DSL bill, electricity bill, and rent bill. For me as long as she can justify the need, I will not doubt or argue with her. What's a husband if she can't depend on you at a time of needs? I really hate this going "dutch" thing. I can never understand and I think it is for people that are greedy or selfish. Sorry just my oppinion. Don't mean to offend anyone.
17. I'm not sure if there is any relationship between the two but I have been to China six times in one years. I just returned from my 7th trips. I have to say that it is very tiring but I love spending time with her and we always have these vacation together inside China. Through these vacation time, we learned a lot about each other. We argue, make up and understand the limit of each other's patience limit. I think that I would suggest everyone visit their SO more frequently to find out the true them. Make sure that you can love them for what they really are. Everytime, I'm there I learn more about her. This last trip we did a lot of adventrous like hiking and horseback riding. A lot of these activities can bring the best and worst of everyone.
18. It is part of the culture and difficult to understand. The father doesn't want the mother so he doesn't want the child either. He see them as one. There is no benifit for him to love his other son since he doesn't know if the son will love him back or provide for him in the future. Chinese is about "Quid Pro Quo". There must be some benefit for them or they just won't do anything for other. I don't know how to really explain. This is not true for all father but fairly common in China and most part of Asia.
19. It seems like your application was approve pretty fast. About 7 months from start to finish? WOW. I wish mine will go just as fast. Anything you did that might have made it faster? Or is is just the luck of the draw?
20. Good Idea. This can help me to keep track of my timeline for INS in the future. Thanks.
21. My husband and just about every other Chinese man I knew when I lived in China have no problem with Western men. How many lessons can you thoroughly learn about a huge country like China in just a week? I don't know how many I learned in two years. 168605 Amber, I realized after I wrote my post that I was being very generalisitic about Chinese men; however, I doubt in your lifetime will you ever have an American man walk up to you in the street and yell "whore" in your ear, because you are with Xiaoming. 168619 Dennis, I'm sure you don't hear the word "Whore" on the street these days but US was not always this way either. A lot of caucasion didn't like it when black men were dating caucasion women. There were a lot of name calling as well then. You have to give it time for China to change. Also when you talk about America, I think you really mean USA. There are other part of America that is still as backward as the small village of China. Unfortunately, you encounter a difference in culture and what is perceive as normal to do in China.
22. If you have not yet recieved your NOA2, I will show you what they told me to do. I too had to do something similar because of some typos. They told me to send a copy of the I129F, G325A, and I-797C with a letter (and your receipt #). In this case, you will be telling them you need to add the pictures. I will show you my letter below. I hope this helps. It worked for me. Be sure to send it to your correct service center. Mine was NSC.
