1. Yes. I often told my wife that if she didnt get the visa right away it was no big deal. We'd get the information they needed and move on. This calmed her quite a bit, and she said her confidence level was high. She looked around at the people who were clueless, and in helping them, she felt confident she knew what she was doing. She had 3 bags of paperwork, where some people had small envelopes. She knew she was prepared and it made her feel really good going in there.
2. If I were in your shoes, (I'm about 10 days ahead of you.) I would send all papers you are going to send, NOW. If your wife does not already have the Notarized Police report and Single Certifications in hand, then she should obtain them ASAP. Sometimes there is as little as 10 days to two weeks notice between P4 and interview. While your fiance's interview is more likely in August it could be as early as early July. The P3 requires you fiance to state she already has these documents on hand before returning the OF-169. I take it you did as most of do and returned the document even though not all documents were on hand. Now is the time to have them on hand. 223346 I can attest to that. We had 16 days from P4 to the scheduled interview, and it was a STRESS getting all that stuff together in that short of a time. I fired off a $90 UPS mega express package that arrived in just 2.5 days, but she spent several days getting the documents she needed together, and scheduling the doctor appointment, which really is a two day project, since you spend most of one day waiting and getting checked, then you have to go back the next day to get the sealed envelope anyway. Then we crammed for the potential questions, verifying she knew the answers to the hundred or so chinese-language questions posted somewhere on here. Sooner is better. You don't need to rush, but you should move along in a timely manner. No reason not to expect that P4 to come in the first or second week in July, holiday or no holiday. I think that the bank statements should be timely, but I have as yet not seen a set shelflife on them. Mine were about three weeks old when she went to the consulate, and they never looked at them, nor my I-134, but this is definitely the exception to the rule. If you are worried about it, you could email them to your SO as you get them, subsequent to the package you send. I did this with my phone records, since we talked about 25-30 hours in those days between P4 and IV. (We talk about 2 hours a day most days). Good luck on getting a P4 soon, and an interview date you are happy with. Yours, Merc
3. The main reason for making the trip at interview time is to offer emotional support to your SO. Having all the documentation is important but her emotional preparation and confidence at that critical moment seem to outweigh other factors. I can't be in China again soon, so I won't be at the interview or there to help them with travel. The best I'll be able to do travelwise is to meet them at Port of Entry. As such, my wife, step-daughter and I will be doing all we can to see that they are emotionally prepared to present an honest, friendly and confident image at interview time. I'll make sure they have as much local support at the time, including Mr. Yang meeting them at the train or bus station, staying in the Consulate building etc. Fortunately, we've already produced a communication video if needed and I THINK I've been very diligent in both providing sufficient documentation and communicating the role of each document. We're now focusing on all the correct inflection and tone of the initial friendly, confident greeting at the interview window. Since you have options, I think a frank discussion with your SO is the best way to arrive at the best decision for your circumstances. 223379 Like Push, I wasn't able to be there for the interview. I was on a project in Canada for work. I am also not going to be able to 'bring her home,' as the airfares are astronomical right now. She has a friend who got her K1 the same day she got her K3, so they are going to fly together. However, her friend mistakely chose the UPS option, and her passport is en route to her hometown of zhenjiang, which is quite a ways from her town of residence, which is shenzen. OOPS! My wife lives in GZ so she opted to pick up her passport, and I HIGHLY recommend this choice to anyone who is in GZ, or can stay an extra two days for the peace of mind having that thing IN HAND brings to your SO and yourself too. We're waiting on her to get our tickets, hoping the price doesn't skyrocket to stratospheric levels before she knows it is safely at her folks' house. My wife and I 'studied" for the interview a bit. and I did what I could to bolster her confidence. She is a smart and wise woman anyway, so it didn't take much. She was ready, and got her visa without difficulty. She is confident about the trip as well, and all we wait on is the date it will happen. The two of them will probably chat the whole way, and between the two of them negotiate the Narita or Seoul airport (depending on the flight) together. I told her about the I-94 and the medical paperwork being of critical importance. POE will most likely be Seattle, and I will meet her there and we'll fly on to Spokane. That way I can be 'inside' the airport as a ticketed passenger, and our drive home is only 2 hours, versus 10. Early on, I wanted to be there for the interview, but like most said it is more of a cheerleader role. You aren't present in the room for the interview. Heck, you aren't necessarily even in the consulate itself, but waiting outside. I don't know what bearing it would have on the interview, but it did not seem to affect ours any. If the ticket prices weren't over $2000 for me, I would probably join her on the flight. Since they are, I am not going to do it, and the bonus is that my left over vacation can be used to acclimate her to the US and to show her some of the sights, relatives, and shopping so she is as comfortable in her new setting as she can be.
4. I am sending in all five EAD/AOS/ In'tl travel docs at the same time. Maybe in different packages, maybe not, I am not sure yet. I still have about a month before my wife comes but she has her visa.
5. (Sorry for the typos, my mother was transcribing it and apparently had a jammed finger.) Anyway, does USCIS know that I'm in China and not in the States? I have no intention of flying back to the States to get my damn fingerprints. Will my biometrics appointment be at Guangzhou? Anyone else have this going on? 222873 Since you are a K1 filed after March 5, 2006, this sounds like the breaking of new ground to me. I take it you received an earlier I-797 indicating receipt of your petition and this is a later notice. Perhaps the biometrics is part of the new IMBRA requirements. One would need to carefully read the entire notice to know. You are probably the first CFL member to receive one of these. 222888 I am betting this is the beginning of IMBRA. Get his print, and then run an interpol / IAFIS check on him to see what his true identity is and if there is anything shady in his past. Sounds like the process has changed... Wonder if this is means an NOA3? Wonder how long the gap between NOA and Biometric appt might be. Would it benefit him to call DOS or NVC and remind them he is in China, OR, better yet, go to GUZ on ACH Friday and ask them what he needs to do? Maybe a friendly VO can help work the strings in the backoffice and get the biometric done without a $2000 flight... I think if I were in his shoes, I would be on my way to ACH next friday (since it is 212pm there now, and the doors are closed for this week)
6. What's the old joke about,,,,,,,,How many Chins are there in a Chinese phone book?????? Not trying to be racial here, just realistic. B) 222771 Chin might be a Taiwanese or Cantonese variant of Chen, but otherwise it may only be a million or less. Now if you mean Zhang... wow that is a lot. Figure the equivalent of 1/3 the US population!
7. http://sun-bin.blogspot.com/2005/12/chines...mily-names.html She may only share her name with 50 or so million others... Compare that to smith, which might have 3 million in the US http://www.jimwegryn.com/Names/CommonSurnames.htm
8. 222795 wow you werent kidding when you said I broke all your graphs... Sorry!!!
9. 1) yes, but because it was overnighted, I got it back within 2 very stressful days. The Chicago drop box never saw it. The postmaster in Chicago's main PO intercepted it for me. She was my hero for a while 2) Correct. never got a paper copy of NOA1, just confirmation that NOA1 happened when I logged into the USCIS site 3) Yep. it took forever to get to P3 4) She got P3 on a Friday and sent it UPS on Saturday, delivered Monday. 4/14 to 4/17. 5) no snafu 6) P4 with 15 and a wakeup for interview. 228 days I think is about 7.5 months. 10/22 to 6/7 from 130 sub to IV I guess it was under 7 months from 129F submittal though (exactly 200 days) i'd tell you my real occupation, but then I would have to kill you
10. Below is my exhaustively documented and finally accurate timeline, which will hopefully thrust me into the lead for longest and most annoying signature! Kenn
11. Ni hao JinJin! Welcome to CFL! you will need one for the interview, and you have one to keep for later, just in case! My wife bought three of everything, but you might be ok with only 2. I am not sure if it is needed for adjusting status when you come to the USA or not. We're K-3 so we'll have another interview for her green card, and I would rather have too many documents than too few.
12. That entire project rivals the Great Wall. It took the most incredible engineering and human drive to first comprehend, then, complete. 222112 It isnt done yet, but they are about P3 For those of you interested in retir ing in China, I would recommend being in a different river valley, or on a high hillside. I think China is going to have trouble with that thing... Silt being a huge one. Seismic risk (they added billions of tons of water to a fault line!) being another big one...
13. DOB is an abbreviation of 'Date Of Birth.' Sorry to hear about your timeline change2marrow. I hope you guys overcome it soon, and get the GUZ address correction manager a brain transplant!
14. Make copies of your visa, phone records, emails, and photos and submit that with the narratives. I hope this is overcome quickly! It will all turn out in the end, it just means more cheetos. Good luck!!!
15. I asked my wife a couple times as well. Her dad was a provincial leader (governor?) and her brothers-in-law were high up in the Yingde city government and the Guangzhou fire department. All party members. She is not, never was. Paula, I have to say I am sorry for the yes then no. It isn't fair. However, I think I would have thought twice about ending the interview then coming back. A question not asked by you is a question not asked by him, if I understand your story correctly. This is not to be kebo de, but rather to give a warning to future people. When the interview is over and you have the visa approval, just go and not look back. You are done there! As it is, you get those letters and you should get your visa. It is only a delay, and happiness will come to you soon! I wish you and your son and husband all the very best in this process!
16. Yep 6' 225-230 depending on the time of day. Hoping to be about 215 by the time lao po steps off the plane in Seattle. What a twist that will be! The other times it is always me stepping off the plane and her greeting me... This time it will be reversed! I will post up my actual and complete timeline (I generalized on a few things, since the ex lurks here) when I get home this weekend.
17. I'm in alberta for work this week, so I am talking off the top of my head, but I think she received the P4 on 5/22, because I didn't get any info from DOS on 5/21 when I called after the call she got. Needless to say we were HUSTLING to get everything together quick enough. I spent $90 to express UPS all the supporting documentation in time. She was running all around GZ trying to get all her stuff together as well. 16 days P4->IV Like a rocket! I think it was like 35 days P3->p4, but our stat keeper would know that better than I
18. I've been playing thing VERY close to my vest for a long time now. Her ex-boyfriend was a concern for TPC. But today my wife got her visa. She was given P4 on 5/22 and her interview was a very fast 6/7. That call from the GUZ was actually the UPS people, it turned out! Our total time on the K3 was 228 days. She is ESTATIC, talking at 10000 miles an hour. Very relieved too. She got up at 4am, took at taxi at 5:30, 6:00 was in the queue at the consulate, and already 30 people were outside. She was inside by 7:30, got a low number, an her interview was about 9:30. She was out of there by 1000. A youngish girl looked at her doctor files and her P4 documents at window 29. Then got a number then go to window 18. A man then fingerprinted her. Her blue bag opened up on her on the floor! cds fell out a little but she fixed it quickly. She said the interview was about 5 minutes long. Do you speak English? A little (she interprets for friends, so I think she was nervous). The rest of the interview was in Mandarin. In English. What color are your husbands eyes? What did you ask me? He said OK and switched to chinese. How do you talk to your husband? A mix of chinese and english How did you meet - asiaeuro Showed photos - he did not look at the studio photos but the photos of our wedding meal with her family in Yingde. He looked at her two wedding rings closely, she noticed. He then asked how often I went to china, and looked at my notarized passport copy. He did not open the x-ray stuff. Stamped her passport and said she got her visa and red paper! DID NOT look at my 134 DID NOT look at tax documents She carried 3 packages. One big blue suitcase with all the documents in it, one with the hundreds of emails in it, and one with the xray in it. She said she was way more stocked up than any more people. 30 pounds versus a few pounds by other people Historically, I called DOS 5 times, emailed NVC 5 times, went to 1 ACH, and wrote all four of my congress people, but it was regarding the immigration issues at hand, not my case specifically. I will post photos and come out from behind the curtain a little here in the coming week or so. I am gone the next two weeks on business, but my wife isn't coming until 6/30 anyway. She met a K1 woman from Seattle, so they are coming to the US together. Kuaile kuaile!
19. A situation all the slimy having had an approved visa and then getting it pulled. So if my wife gets a visa and comes to the US, some jealous 'friend' could write a letter and they could pull her back? If they'd had visa in hand and left, then what? Do our SO's need to lay low until they get on the plane, for fear of some a****le jealous jerk writing a letter? I just hope we aren't getting the whole picture here, and things aren't as tenuous as that...
20. I'm just shy of 37 years old. Anyone my age relying on jack diddly squat from social security is living in a dream world. Hell, anyone under 50 should be skeptical. Enjoy the fruits of my labors in your later years... I won't. :\
21. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Hehe I *just* posted asking about that since its about 1030 now in China and sometimes the interviews are done by now. Whoever it was, YES! Things are Happening! Wewt!
22. I've pondered this myself... We're K-3. Maybe we'll be done soon with it. The 130 is at the point where they are asking for the big check. That might put it 6-7 months from interview +/-. Pros of letting the 130 go to GUZ Streamlined process. no 485 864 and everything So took to the K-3 interview plus stateside photos maybe quicker than AOS Pros of going AOS Trip to GUZ costs way more than a trip to the local office. maybe quicker than CR-1 in GUZ with the slowdown and haiguan crap For us, she doesn't want to spend the money to go back if the K-3 is approved. Spokane's center seems to be above average speed in processing.
23. CONGRATULATIONS!!! At least AOS is a rollercoaster you get to ride together! So what form does he fill out for the AOS?
24. I don't buy it. They see several doctors and clinicians as part of the exam process, and there are alot of people going through the process each day.
