1. You pretty well answered yourself there. Hopefully, Doug is right (about both of you). We should begine hearing about the November wave any day now.
2. It doesn't seem like it is really a dilemna, but figuring out the right thing to do can be difficult , when you have people who think they know what the law really says. Texas is a community property state - I don't think it would be a problem here. It seems like the IRS can't use the TIN anymore, if what these people are telling you is true. How about a different bank? Maybe try a check-cashing company? All you need is to get the cash, and then deposit it into your account. Well, you've probably already tried more things than I can think of. Good luck!
3. A teaching certificate requires a certain amount of training at an accredited university (I think about 2 years of requirements here in Texas). This training varies by state. Check with your state university. A private school, however, may not be so stringent, especially one for Chinese students.
4. Eating too many pork and beans changes the weather too! Like that study done on cow farts and the effects on the atmosphere. 156904 Uh-oh.....guilty as charged. I'm working on my diet. I did light a match immediately after the event, but caution everyone to avoid smoking and activating electronic devices while in my (or a cow's) immediate presence.... 156907 Way to go Jesse! You're fartin' caused the hurricane and global warming. 157028 Didn't we close out the 'fart' thread?????
5. and hopefully the GUZ will expedite it as well. Best wishes!
6. If I didn't know better, I'd swear you were trying to be funny! I-485, the I-765, and the I-131????? Parole???? I mean......she's not in prison. Thanks much for the info, and to those that also responded. 156977 It's important to keep a sense of humor (or eat a lot of cheetos).
7. http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/ups/DeNiro/sun.gifCongratulations!!
8. You came to the right place - we'll help you the rest of the way!! timelines
9. I'm disappointed that you haven't heard about your interview yet (we are a week or to behind Fred, so far). They should begin announcing the November dates any day now. I can't help you with the shipping (mine will just bring a suitcase or two), but someone will be along soon to help you out. Good to hear from you again - save us a place in line
10. That is really sick when they charge these people $100 each time just to hear them say "No".
11. OK - power back on, SO assured, everything back to normal, except that they are expecting it to take 3 days for everyone to return. Businesses were closed Thursday, and won't re-open before Tuesday or Thursday at the earliest. Gasoline still not available, unless you find a station that has it, and wait in mile+ long lines. People who evacuated drove at 1 - 2 miles perhour, until they ran out of gas, or broke down, or got to where they were going 24+ hours later. Now they all have to come back. Those who were stuck camped out in parking lots, or allowed to shelter in one of several schools along the way who had to harbor these people with no notice. People are still evacuating the Trinity River basin, which will flood when they stage an emergency release of water.
12. It passed to the east of here. No damage to my home, except the power is out.??2 million people tried to evacuate in 1 to 2 mile an hour traffic. My ex-wife left at 4AM Thursday, made it 10 miles out of town at 3PM before giving up. Almost no gas anywhere in a 150 mile radius.??
13. 9 months sounds real good at this point, one guy said I can expect 11 to 15 months, hehe. hey, how do I add a picture to my posts on this site? 156490 Click on "My Controls" from the front page, and "Edit Avatar settings"
14. Yes! Not good - just BETTER!! Thank you! I'm cooking dinner right now. Did Albert get his V8 I'm looking a little closer now. Is that a fist or . . . Never Mind!
15. I think people are getting their visas about 2 days after the interview these days, but that's also about 9 months or so on down the road for you, if you are just now applying.
16. The registry would provide affected parties with the means to find out about the prior convictions, but a felony conviction is already on the record, and should be considered with the visa application. Perhaps a regulation or provision to that effect is required. It seems to me that sex offenders could easily and should be excluded from this type of visa application, simply be requiring the NVC to consider the offense. I think all of us wish that the Chinese women who may wish an American husband would have that protection. and Dennis, would you please change your avatar before dinnertime??
17. Well, I think you found the answer there, Jesse - that there IS no such restriction, especially considering the case of the child molester. There is no reason why a restriction from being placed on the USC, but I doubt that there is any interest in Washington for doing so. But I think we all agree that a convicted child molester should not be allowed to take advantage of the process.
18. I think that new avatar is enough to kill any thread, Dennis!
19. The "warehouse" they use is the Swan Hotel. They do not have to (and won't) acknowledge anything until they acknowledge receiving it. This sounds like a slip on their part - that they signed for the package too early, and moved it from customs clearance to the Swan Hotel. That little bit of traceability you saw is unusual, and they appear to be trying to cover their tracks. "Customs clearance" and "waiting to be sorted and processed" are both things that they can claim are out of their control.
20. Convicted felons lose their right to vote - their right to mail-order molestation victims is certainly not protected by the constitution.
21. I think I saw somewhere that it was on the back og the I-94. But, you can get an SSN without work autorization.
22. I think more people are becoming convinced of that possibility 5 week delay that DHL blamed on GUZ
23. And the Swan Hotel and "customs delay" limbos are perfectly acceptable delays to the Washington crowd, since it is supposedly "out of their hands". "Haven't received yet" or "customs delay" deflect attention from their performance, and provide them with a very convenient excuse to extend their deadlines.
24. Anything over a few days is unacceptable - and deliberate on the part of the consulate, in my opinion. They are using "customs delay" as an excuse for their performance. It is difficult to hold them responsible when they handle it this way. However, Ty's point is well taken. It is best to be patient. I hope this doesn't signal a slow-down.
