  1. I guess they haven't figured out that loophole yet. It's obviously flawed, the single certificate process.
  2. I had a notarized and certified single certificate from my state's registry of vital records. It was not accepted so we had to go to theYS Consulate in Chengdu to get one. I really don't see much point in it though. The consul asks you to swear under oath you are single and intend to marry said significant. If one was to commit fraud, the applicant already knows they are doing something wrong. Also another thing I noticed after I got my damaged passport replaced, I could have brought that to the consulate to get a new single certificate and register a new marriage in Chongqing where we registered our marriage.
  3. Learning to drive correctly takes time and patience. Even more effort as well. However for most new drivers in The Boston area they take their road test at Brookline Driving School. My wife took her road test there as well. They have you drive around the block and then it's time to get out....next!
  4. Dan is ideal for it. He is also very knowledgeable and well versed in the Visa process. I wish Dan nothing but the best.
  5. Thanks tsap. I think you like most here are great guys. We take time out of our day to offer advice and try to help others.
  6. I think if you bring a copy of your marriage certificate it should do. I'm not sure however. Maybe someone else who has been in this situation can chime in.
  7. I was once scheduled on an OZ flight JFK to Incheon. Err that flight was coming from Incheon to JFK. One of its engine failed in flight. The plane was grounded. Passengers were given a run around at JFK that the flight would take off shortly which it never did. The return flight to JFK there was a technical emergency and had to return to Anchorage after refueling there. Landed at JFK of course late missed my connecting onward flight to Boston. Was put in the Ramada which I got no rest went back to the airport to wait. All flights to Boston was cancelled due to fog. I ended up picking a rental and drove myself home.
  8. Is this flight on Asiana? I have horror stories with that airline. I'd never fly that airline again.
  9. Hey tsap we've never met in person but I've hung around CFL since 2008. I have read your stories and posts. Some I've commented on and offered my two cents as well. We're up here in Boston. If you need anything from here you just let me know buddy.
  10. If your baby drinks cow's milk. You can see if your baby will drink Nestlé Nido. It's whole milk in powdered form so it will travel easily. I however haven't had any success with that for my baby. When we travel I bring Horizon 1% low fat milk for him. It doesn't need to be refrigerated.
  11. Scott, I agree it will be more cost effective. However my wife has been using the Estée Lauder and Avene skin care products for so long now that she is reluctant to use anything else. It is what it is my friend. Just letting others know that the Estée Lauder skin care products work for her very sensitive skin. Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it.
  12. We've used a car seat in China before. The cars there are smaller. You'll find it difficult to fit a convertible car seat in the back seats.
  13. My wife has very sensitive skin. She's from Chongqing where the sun doesn't shine everyday there. She uses Avene Spring Spray to keep her skin hydrated and Est¨¦e Lauder sensitive foam wash. The Est¨¦e Lauder comes in a pink tube/bottle bought at Macy's.
  14. Congrats great to hear. Enjoy your new life together.
  15. I got a sheet of paper with two circles and a triangle on it. It's the best father's day gift I have received since being a daddy!
  16. Congratulations. I believe it is the date of approval. Perhaps someone who has gone through it themselves can confirm it for you.
  17. Congratulations! That's great to hear. Sea-Tac should be a quick entry point. It was when I passed through before. Best of wishes on uniting your family.
  18. Here is something that I recently got in the mail from USCIS, it was a letter stating that my petition for Fiancee Visa is being sent back for review. While we did get approved for the visa, my fiancee then never went to the interview because we had some issues that needed attention first. So at that time I wrote to the Consulate and advised them of our family emergency situation. They responded by saying that the visa can be extended beyond the original 6 month period of validity. Well we never were able to resolve the family issue and instead got married in China, filed the CR1, and by the time all is said and done, she arrived in the US as an IR1 with a 10 year green card. That's great and all. I am not sure why we even get anything about original fiancee visa petition since we are now married. Was I suppose to formally withdraw the original application when I filed for the CR1 which ultimately ended up as an IR1? Thanks, Chris
  19. Every time I sent money by wire transfer to a bank in China it always goes through, the receiving bank calls the recipient to provide notice of the transfer, and depending on how much you transfer will ask what the money for the incoming wire is for. It usually takes about 5 to 7 days for a wire transfer to be completed, but I have experienced a time when it took about two weeks.
  20. I believe you are permitted to bring cameras and take pictures at the Oath Ceremony, congrats on passing the citizen test.

    Moving to Hangzhou

A way to ship things to/from China is by LTL, (Less Than Truckload). There is a few brokers that I use myself, contact me if you need their contact information. This will take quite a bit of time, and if you're in rush to retrieve your belongings or if you time it properly you might need to wait only a few days after arrival in China. We're in the Boston area too, so if you need more details let me know. LTL shipments to/from China can take a month or more to arrive. This I think would be the most cost effective way to ship in/out of the country if time is not an issue. Good luck with your move.
  22. Tim, that is insane, you'll never make a connecting flight at Hong Kong in 50 mins. You'll need to disembark your current flight and then proceed through the Hong Kong arrival baggage check to get to the departure hall. Plus once you are at the departure hall, you'll need to get to your gate, considering the gates at Hong Kong are quite a distance away, as I recall there is about 100 gates, if I recall correctly??
  23. Tsap, it depends on what POE you go through, when my wife and I landed at Newark, NJ, she was with me in the Citizens line and we passed through immigration quickly. Your wife would be an immediate PR and a part of your family, so you can go through the Citizens line. You'll fill out one form for your whole family, listing all of them on it. Good luck and have a safe trip back.
  24. I took my wife to test drive the CR-V as one of her options, she didn't like it that it was so small and wasn't enough room, so she also drove the Lexus GX, Acura MDX and Audi Q7, she liked the Q7 the most which she got. Good luck on the car search, it can be fun.
