  1. My dentist has been redoing the work my wife has had in China; mostly replacing old, metal fillings. I asked him if the Chinese dentist did bad work and he said no, just outdated.
  2. When I toured the Louvre, I got the impression that most of the stuff I was seeing was nothing more than loot.
  3. On our bus ride from Kunming to the Stone Forest, our tour guide said we need to watch out for bandits and gold smugglers.
  4. Wife gets the giving candy to the kids part.
  5. Several Chinese people gather around whenever I visit to see what I eat. You gave me a good chuckle with that line, Jess. And, your post made me hungry ta boot. I am also not afraid to try what others are eating from the street venders. During our visit to Nanning last July, instead of eating at the hotel, I insisted that we eat with the locals who gathered for their morning breakfast among those street food merchants. Man o man did I ever get the best and most hearty food that anyone could ever ask for. If there's anything that I would say that I miss more than anything else, after returning home, are those street venders with their delicious breakfasts. Cheaper too. I like the street food and the mon & pop noodle shops too.
  6. Christians like to kill people and Buddhist don't.
  7. I knew a guy from Africa who had three wives.
  8. Wife says when you wake up the dream is over. But for me it is when I fly to China. The plane banks to the left and we head over Japan. Thats when I tune in to the Chinese pop music and know I am in Asia. Next stop' China.
  9. Here's something I found on Frontline: http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/stories/china_705/
  10. So are we saying machines that are used in vital services like transportation, hospitals, finance, ect. may get shut down. Does MS have the power to shutdown a country?
  11. Since you are married, I wouldn't worry about it. It's not like she asked you to send her $20K or something. That's the red flag.
  12. I opened a drawer in the kitchen this evening and saw several sets of flatware with the Singapore Air logo stamped on them. In the cupboard there were also several bowls from the airline. My mind flashed back to SFO customs and how we avoided a possible embarassing moment. I better go check the towels in the closet.
  13. There you go. My wife wouldn't believe it until it was in hand. I made a small card holder and fasten it in the back of her passport for travel.
  14. Good: Singapore, Cathy Pacific, Asiana, Air China
  15. HKG is my favorite airport. I can have a cheesburger and a beer and my wife can have her noodles and tea.
  16. Don't worry. Once she gets the 411 from her new found Chinese female friends, she will direct you. We often drive 8 miles to the 99 Ranch to save 20 cents on cilantro. You may as well forget about La Choy and maybe you favorite ABC resturant (if Chinese don't eat there then it is no good).
  17. So basicly, Roger us going to start up his own church in an upper middle class developement in China and get is flock to fork over the 15%. Sounds like easy money for the Rev. Roger. That's a Win Win deal as everybody feels good all around.
  18. Just dial 202-663-1225 and ask for Condie.
  19. Photo copies of her passport and GC may be a good idea. Maybe you could join her for the last few weeks and return together.
  20. I hear that "Buzz" Wong is going to be the commander on the next mission.
  21. HK security took my small screwdriver I had in my eyeglass repair kit. They said I could come back and get it in two weeks.
  22. I would say medical. The Baby-Boomers are getting old.
  23. You're right about reporters being scum. I saw a local report this morning commenting about a group of children dressed in ethnic costumes to represent the regions of China during the Opening of the games. The reporter said they were all "Hans" and not ethnic children. The reporter is an ABC.
