  1. My in-laws interviewed last month for B-2s and were both approved but they pretty much said the same thing that you did. The VO was not really interested in any of the paperwork that they had brought with them - the VO did not want to see any of their property ownership or bank account information. The only thing that the VO did ask to see was the I-134 that I had filled out for them - he took a good look at it and then returned it to them before telling them that their visas were approved. He was also interested in seeing some of the pictures that they had brought with them showing other family members in China - my MIL showed him these after he asked how many family members they still had in China. Thanks. That helps to confirm things. With a little more research, they look at all applications as Immigrant Visas and then apply the burden of proof to the applicant that the intent is for Non Immigrant. With that said, the lack of the I-134 was a show stopper. I'll try to get some more info from the folks in GZ as I could not get a word in last night when my wife was on the phone. emotional Cantonese...I didn't stand a chance.
  2. I'm suspecting it may have been because we did not supply the I-134. I'll have my wife call home again tonight and see if I can get some more info on how the interview went down. Basicly she said it was less than ten minutes and the VO thumbed through "our" papers (without reading) and then issued the denial. She mentioned the VO did not look at the papers submitted by our mother in law and friend.
  3. My mother in law and wife's friend were denied visas today, 214 b. My wifes friend said the VO just took a quick look at the docs and I suspect that this was just random. Does anyone think we can get an approval if we resubmit right away?
  4. Do you know anything about Buddhism?
  5. OK, here's the deal. The mother in-law visit is on however we would like to have my wife's best friend from childhood visit also. The best friend's family is an extended one and I gave her niece away at her wedding (father didn't get passport in time to make it to VC BC). She also has a son and owns three business's. Question: Should I write separate letters or include both in single letters? thanks
  6. Im back after spending a year buying a house. The market is very competive but that's another story. The wife is interested in having her mother come for a visit. Does anyone have the current requirements (paperwork) and timelines for processing? I did look at Tine's pinned post but that seems a bit dated. thanks
  7. She was correct on the page I read. My wife doesn't like it when I have my "steak with blood".
  8. My wife says you can use this tea with western medicine, Í®»ÔÂÞ²¼Âé²è, for bp. I use guava leaf tea for blood sugar and it works great.
  9. Also try Fremont, Pleasanton & Livermore. The drive from Livermore is about 20 minutes.
  10. I work for a major employment and consulting firm. We have increased our field staff (headhunters) in the US and Canada by about 500 since August. So maybe the big guys know something.
  11. Did she ever say "it's the car's fault"? I had mine go to a Chinese driving instructor.
  12. We actually got the phones for just a $20 upgrade. Wife went to Chinatown (SF) and ordered the phones and they put $180 on the credit card. When she picked up the phones she was given $180 cash back and we were all set with AT&T without the data plan. Works great with wireless. I check Nokia's FAQ and they said you cannot install Chinese. However I found another forum that says you can install Psiloc Crystal. I'll let my wife research this further since the Chinese seem to have a knack for getting around things.
  13. We just bought a pair of Nokia E71xs and my wife wants to put QQ on it. Has anybody tried this? thanks
  14. If you go with her you can carry another 100lbs of her stuff.
  15. I have a video of a ten year old kid driving two water bullalo with a stick. Some place near Kali.
  16. Why don't you plan another visit to China? Tour three cities or so and have fun. That will give GZ some "happy pics", ticket stubs and another Chinese visa in your passport. Chinese "live for the moment" so you need to be flexible when plans change.
  17. Wife got the DL in the mail this week. She won't carry it with her because her Ca ID card doesn't expire until 2012. I guess she want's to get her moneys worth.
  18. After two years of "I know how to drive" and "the car's not working right". The wife passed her driving exam on the first try. Only four points taken off (94%). The key? Get a chinese driving instructor. I will share one moment. While on a trip from SF to VC BC crusing I5. Wife was driving and we came upon a rig doing about 62 (limit was 70). I said, "OK time to pass this truck. Left signal on, check the mirrors, look back to the left and change lanes when clear. Lane change completed successfully and as I looked back there were about ten cars stacking up. I looked at the speedometer and it said 40. The truck we were going to pass was now 1/2 a mile ahead. I said gas, gas gas. She said I'm trying but it's the car's fault. Am I safe? My insurance co wants $1400 per year for the next 18 months. $2100.
  19. Leftovers will be put on the table until they rot. A putrid kind of thing. Instead of enjoying something fresh, you will say this is no good. That will happen everyday. Good luck.

    Isolation

You may want to move to the SF Bay Area, plenty of Chinese here. As for CFL, my wife is not interested. "It's husbands website." No Chinese isolation here. Just like China. I even have to sneak a bologna sandwich now and then.
  22. We are looking to buy a house. Does anybody know how a VA loan works? thanks
