  1. I-485 receipt number, I-485 notice day... They pretend they are doing a great job, they are well-organized
  2. Sorry, I do not understand that question... there is no 13 digit anything on that receipt.. trust me.. No, there's no 13-digit number on it. I checked that grocery receipt again and again. Ok, I went to the sign webpage again, now I know what do we sign for.
  3. Yes, use NM to see and talk to each other and use yahoo to get each other's IP. BTW, did your MM give you your Chinese name? It's an interesting name
  4. Sign for getting the 13-digit receipt number for I-485?
  5. Yes, yahoo is even better. And actually it will only limit chat rooms, not the messenger.
  6. Yes, it is sad. If they're rejected because of lack of proof, they may try to live together in China. Where there's a will, there's a way. Wish them all the best! Q&Q
  7. Yes, PJ, you need to bring a copy of your fiance's birth certificate to America. When you first file the petition, you need to send the birth certificate together with the I-129. Good luck! Q&Q
  8. If you want to add an avatar to your name, go to control panel and edit avatar setting. I can't remember where I found mine. If you'd like to use it too, I'm not sure if it's already in the avatar list. If not, you may try save mine to your computer, then upload it. Q&Q
  9. Taht's vrey intesretnig!!! The hard one for me is phenomenal, I know this word, I know what it means in Chinese, but i didn't know how to spell. When i first saw paomnnehil, I guess it might be phenomenal. The hardest one is rscheearcher, I still didn't get it. Is it researcher? I think it must be researcher, but where can I put the other "ch"?
  10. To make you wondering...haha... According to driving regulations, one must have his seat belt on when he's driving. But most of the people fail to realize how important it is to have it on and they feel more comfortable without it on. So most of them just drape it all the way across, pretending they're having it on to sort of cheat the cop.
  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ARBITALPUNK! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

  13. I think I'd like to share my SSN experience. When we filed for a socail security number, as for item 3----citizenship, we checked "legal alien not allowed to work". When we handed in the form, the woman in SSA looked at my visa and told us that I was allowed to work. We were very glad to know that, although at the same time we were much confused because we didn't see anything special in my visa. We waited for 6 weeks before I finally got my SSN, but it has the statement" VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH INS AUTHORIZATION" on it. So we went to the local SSA, this time we were told that I-94 was just the INS AUTHORIZATION. Now I know I still need EAD, I'm ing Q&Q
  14. I think yahoo webcam is pretty clear and fast, but when you turn on both video and audio, it's not so satisfying. We used netmeeting most of the time when I was in China. I think when you use yahoo, you both log in to yahoo server, when you use netmeeting, you're connected to each other directly, that's why you can have both clear picture and clear voice at the same time. If you don't have netmeeting in your computer, you may go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/netmeetin...ing/default.asp to download and install it, it's free Q&Q
  15. hi Tony, Yan and I may have the similar taste on movies. I prefer watching a movie that is closer to our life and has a happy ending, and I prefer American movies too. Especailly now, with Brian's help with the cultural things in the movies, it's a great fun and another great way to know the new land better. When we talk about movies, what Brain says very often is "that's the movie I'd like you to watch". So far, we've got a collection including old movies like, Sleepless in Seatle, and new movies, like Chicago etc Q&Q
  16. About 10 years ago, people would like to do any important things on 8th, 18th or 28th, because 8 has similar pronunciation as "fa" meaning being rich. People spent extra 500 or more to get a cell phone number with 8, 88, or 888...Recently, people begin to choose 9 as a fortune number to get married, because 9 has the same pronunciation as the word in Chinese which means forever. I'm not superstitious at all. It's our love that counts, not the date we choose to get married on. But my wedding day will be on April 19, I do feel so good because 19 sounds like "yao jiu" which means we'll be together for ever. Yes, for ever and ever and ever
  17. Don't worry at all . My wife Yuhui was spelled Yu Hui on her visa... We filed for SSN under Yuhui ( and AOS too ). She got her SS card in 2 weeks. You can call SS after a week you file to get your assigned number www.ssa.gov They also told us it would take 6 weeks to check with INS, but she got her SSN over the phone 9 days later and her actual card in 2 weeks after filing ! Please say hi to lucky yuhui. Thank you for posting, so i'm not worried now. when I called 800 this morning, I was told that my number wasn't assigned yet. I have to wait Q&Q
  18. Hi All, My Chinese name is Wei Su Juan. Wei is my family name and Su Juan is my given name. When we fill in forms, we always fill in SuJuan as my first name, without a space. I just noticed that on my visa issued by Guangzhou, they wrote my first name as Su Juan. I filed for SSN on Mar. 10th, but haven't got the card yet. This morning when I called SSA, the woman who answered the phone asked me if my first name is two words or one word. I told her it was one word without space. She also told me that after we filed, they would get on line to look for our information input by INS. If after 2 weeks, there's still no information available, they will submit the file to INS to ask them to find our information. As it took longer for me to get my card, I begin to worry that if it's because of my name. If INS input my name as Su Juan and SSA as SuJuan, will it be a big problem? Would anyone please tell me how you write your first name, as one word without space or as two words? Thanks! Q&Q
  19. I called 800-772-1213 last Monday and was told that my name wasn't in their system yet. I called again just now and the representative told me that my name was in their system now but no SSN assigned yet. She also said that usually it would take 2 weeks to get the card after you filed, but If they couldn't find your information on line, they had to handle your filing documents to INS to ask them to find the information, and that would take up to 2 months. She asked me to call again if I didn't get my card by May 10th(I filed on Mar. 10th). I certainly hope I don't need to call them again. B) oh, well, I know finally I'll Q&Q
  20. I tried again, and finally I talked to one of the representatives. She told me that my number was not available yet. hmmmmm...why it took so long for me? She asked my name, birthday, current address, zipcode and phone number. It seems that my name has been entered in their system yet. I applied SSN on Mar. 10. I'm beginning to worry... Q&Q
