  1. The last processing action taken on your case: Application Type: CRI89 , PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED Current Status: Card production ordered. On January 4, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. Yay!
  2. Our 1-751 was transferred and we are glad. According to the processing times on the USCIS website, CSC is only 6 months compared to Nebraska, which is about a year. Can't exactly trust those times are accurate but it seems that CSC is faster. We had biometrics on Dec 13th and hope to recieve the permanant card any day now.
  3. Congrats- was your case handled through CSC? Our case just got transferred there and biometrics are on 12/13/07- this could mean that we are looking for an approval in a month or so.
  4. Congratulations. We have lived in Chicago for over 2 years and I cannot get my husband even slightly interested in learning how to drive.
  5. We just got confirmation that it was delivered. What a relief. I'm still very annoyed though that USPS doesn't seem to be using their own tracking system that we are paying extra for. I think the best thing is always to mail to an actual address so that you can send it certified and not have to worry.
  6. I really hope this is the case... it's going to be hard to wait a few weeks to find out for sure, especially as we paid more to be able to track it just for this reason.
  7. We sent it through USPS mail but we paid for this service at the UPS store, which provides USPS services. So we are going to ask the UPS store for a refund. And believe me, they know how we feel!
  8. Now they are saying that they often deliver packages without scanning them in. So of course then we're like, what's the point of paying almost $30 to track it if they aren't even going to use the system? And it could take up to 6 weeks to get a NOA from USCIS so we need to know before then. Hope we can get confirmation somehow. Wish I would have known that there is an actual street address we can send it to before so we could have sent it certified and avoided all this.
  9. We went to the UPS store in our neighborhood on Tuesday to mail our removal of conditions application. We were told the only way to send to a PO box so that we can track it is through USPS express mail and that the soonest it would arrive is Thursday. We paid $27 for this service. Yesterday we were checking the status to make sure it was delivered and it was coming up as not in the system. My husband left work 2 hours early and spent the afternoon going back and forth between the post office and the UPS store, both of whom are claiming no responsibility. The USPS says that they do not do business with UPS. UPS apparently takes your package (and money), stamps it and gives it to the postman. Of course my husband is furious and telling them that they should not accept money for a service they cannot perform. They are offering us a refund but we really need that package back. It will take a few days to duplicate the application, we have copies of most of the stuff but things like the notorized letters and pictures have to be re-done. Not to mention the $545 money order and financial information that is now floating around out there somewhere. And of course the timeline is always in the back of our minds. This is so frustrating, it makes me really angry that we are unable to send our important immigragion documents through certified mail and that only a PO box is available. I just hope we hear back today that they found our application. I wanted to post this story somewhere that people can understand how upsetting this is for us!
  10. Well we just mailed everything last night, a week later than we meant to, hope it goes quickly and smoothly.
  11. Hey Ryan I remember you guys! Congrats on the birth of your son. Amber
  12. It's gotta be a way to get more in fees. I was thinking the same thing. What a waste.
  13. Here is our list: • Copy of the permanent resident card for him • Copy of documentation of home mortgage (original) • Copy of documentation of home mortgage, refinanced • Two notarized letters from family and friends testifying to our marriage and relationship • Copy of the title of our car, showing joint ownership • Copy of the joint tax returns for 2006 • Copy of the documentation showing each other to be the beneficiary for life insurance and retirement plans • Copies of car and home insurance • Copy of our joint bank account information • Copies of wedding cards from our wedding • Copies of other joint credit card accounts • Copy of our joint gym membership • Copy of the adoption papers for our dog • Copies of our condo assessment bill • Copies of our cell phone bill showing two phone lines • Copies of emails to each other • Pictures of us together
  14. All pages of the petition and copies of evidence should be two hole punched at the top, and can use an ACCO fastener to hold everything together.http://omximages.officemax.com/images/kreb_large/09000706.GIF NOTE: all evidence can be simple photo copies. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD (this link has many useful suggestions about assembling the package.) Also a Cover letter on top detailing all contents of the package, helps. Yes, this is what I was looking for, information on the type of folder you put all your documents in. I remember it had to be two hole punched at the top for all the K-1 stuff. I already have the list from VJ and am using their cover letter, just wondered if there is anything else. We did not have to attend an interview for the AOS so I'm hopeful we won't this time either.... Thanks for the help.
  15. One more question I thought of- what have people been mailing their applications in? I remember there was a big deal about exactly what type of folder to mail in everything for the AOS.
  16. We are preparing to file for removal of conditions on my husband's green card on Oct 18th, the day he is eligible. Besides the usual list of evidence to submit does anyone have any advice or is there anything I need to know? We are the Nebraska center and are concerned about processing times. Does anyone know what the liklihood of an interview instead of just being approved? Thanks... Amber PS Sorry if any of these questions are repetitive, I haven't been keeping up with this site.
  17. I'm sure driving is easy... he is just too lazy to learn when he doesn't really need to. Dennis, if you know of any ladies who might want to join our page, please have them contact me.
  18. My site doesn't exist anymore, I didn't keep it up after I left China. Us ladies now have a great (and free) group on myspace.
  19. Hi guys It's been awhile.... this is Amber. Just wanted to give an update, haven't been to this site in a long time. My husband and I are doing well in Chicago. We have our own home, a lovely greyhound, a car and we both have good jobs. We'll be applying to remove conditions in October so I'll probably be looking for some advice then. My husband has been back to China twice already for visits. He is doing OK here but would rather live in Dalian. He still hasn't learned to drive, that's the next big thing.
  20. My husband has body hair, does not use deoderant, and does NOT smell- ever. I don't think he sweats much though he works out almost everyday. So it must be all the Chinese people who are not married to someone on this board who are stinking up the country.
  21. My husband got a good job at a bank, based on his being bilingual only- as he has no real work experience and not even a 4 year college degree. There are more opportunities like this in a big city.
  22. Congratulations Mari... we've missed you at Small World!
  23. Also read Jasper Becker's Hungry Ghosts. There is a whole chapter on Cannabilism.
  24. Yes, definitely read that. It is worth the time. Frightening story about what can possibly happen. Just do a search when you get to the page for "Not Without", because it is all the way down the page. 201488[/snapback] Since people seem to be having trouble finding the article, I will post it here.
