  1. "PEOPLE WITH HEART CONDITIONS SHOULD NOT TAKE GINSENG !" -- especially Korean kind Oh Oh, my wife has requested that I bring some American gingseng on my next trip as a gift for her family. However, I know her parents are overweight, have high blood pressure and my guess heart disease. Is this a bad idea to bring this as a gift?
  2. Wow, Congratulations mari. You have been so patient during your ordeal. I'm really happy for you. Best wishes for a long and happy marriage.
  3. Wow! Congratulations. Hope its a sign of improvement at GZ
  4. Congratulations to you! Great news that you are moving on B)
  5. Yes, welcome. Hope you have a good sense of humor. Normals got too stressed out and didn't complete this process
  6. Great News. Super Happy for you. Best wishes for a great life together
  7. I brought a ring in no problem. Didn't declare nothing. Just had it in my pocket. But they never even looked at my when I walked out of the baggage claim area.
  8. Congratulations and best wishes for a wonderful life to both couples
  9. Oh Dan, take a deep breath. Everything will be fine. Remember how much Mark messed up when he went to GZ? They still got the visa.
  10. Don't forget to include all your blue thingies - proof positive of your intentions
  11. Every time I visited these inhibitions about PDS's decreased. By the last time I left Jen was laying some pretty passionate kisses on me at the airport in front of her daughter. And that time there were no tears since she knew the next time she saw me would be the last time we have to leave each other.
  12. I've gotten a response from GZ all but one time. That time Jenny had also sent them an email the same day, so they responded to her. Maybe they are aware enought to know we are the same petition
  13. Interesting post. Thanks. Not sure if I want to attend a banquet - think I'll act allergic to alcohol
  14. Yes, the dreaded S word. Jenny can shop with the best American woman. My feet have nearly fallen off every time we have gone to "have a look" somewhere. Then when she finds something theres a 30 minute negotiation I'm usually ready to just give them anything just to leave.
  15. Congratulation Turtle. With all the mop slap scars Trigg, your interview should be a piece of cake
  16. Yes, I agree there are definitely two China's. Jenny's parents live in an unheated one room house with no plumbing 1 hour from Yantai. It's cold there in the winter. They do not even own bicycles and walk everywhere on dirt roads in their small village. By contrast Jenny lives in a modern apartment in Ningbo a very booming city. Her place is nice even by western standards. But she remembers the poverty and lives frugally (well, except she likes to shop )
  17. There doesn't seem to be much logic or reason for how this process works. Some people have it shorter just because of what service center area they live in. Some people get selected for "second name checks". There's little you can do to influence the process, so its just best to get a good phone card and call your SO a lot and visit as often as you can. Your time will come.
  18. Yes, my brothers are quite well off. Jenny expects that they will just send money to us because they have more than us. I only wish
  19. Wahoo!! Congratulations Jim! You've spent enough time in GZ purgatory. Great to hear
  20. Ditto, my SO and I text msg each other multiple times per day. I also use a cheap Verizon phone that is pay per use. Txt msgs cost next to nothing.
  21. I've read the suggestion of a membership fee and I think that is an idea worth considering. There is lots of valuable information here. Could be set up like the on-line dating services - you can look for free but have to pay if you want to post questions. Just an idea. Anyway thanks to Don and all the members who worked behind the scenes to make this happen. I am quite grateful to you all.
  22. I agree with J. I think that while some people might initially regard mixed race children as interesting in China, they would have a much more difficult time as they grew older. I found a strong sense of prejudice against blacks when I was there whenever showing pictures of my daughter. The US is by far the most racially diverse and tolerant country on the planet in this regard (yes, I know we're not perfect, have experienced much prejudice as I have posted elsewhere). Brazil would be next on my list
  23. Wouldn't you need AP (advance parole) to take your wife back to China? Congratulations
