  1. Hi All, It has been a month since the documents were sent to GZ. According to the DOS, they have still not arrived there. I have 2 questions: 1) How long does it normally take to be delivered to GZ? And 2) Will they send out the P3 based on the electronic documents they HAVE received? The DOS person told me that they will still send out the P3 - even if they do not have the actual documents???? Sounds wrong... Thanks All, Scott (m-coon)
  2. Hi All, My application has been sent to the Guangzhou Embassy as of July 5. I was given a GUZ number and was given a phone number to call to check on the status... However when I call the number - all I get is a recording. My wife says she heard that you cannot get a human on the phone there and that they only reply if I fax my inquiry. Does anybody know for sure the ways of checking on the status of a application in that office? If so, can I please ask for the preferred way to check on the status and the number needed to make that contact? I would like to also know if e-mail is a good way to contact them and if so what the proper e-mail address is for the GZ embassy? And is there a phone number that will get a human on the phone there? Thanks, Scott (m-coon)
  3. Hi All, On June 20 my I-129 was approved!!! Yea!!! I don't understand the remaining processes nor do I know how to check on the status of the application. Can somebody explain the remaining processes and how I can either by internet or by phone verify the progress of my application? I thought I had read here somewhere that it is sent to another office in the US to complete a "background check" and if this is successful - it then goes to GZ..... Is this true? But most important - how can I verify the progress of this process? Also what are the time frames for the remaining steps also? Thanks, Scott (m-coon)
  4. Hi All, Can somebody tell me if there are any other fees related to a K3 visa application other than the 2 filing fees I paid in the beginning? Are there any fees directly related to the interview or the actual visa? Anything else? Thanks, Scott (m-coon)
  5. HI, None of these links mention for how many days the holiday is celebrated. Do you have any info on this part of the question? Thanks, Scott (m-coon)
  6. Hi All, Would somebody be so kind as to either tell me or direct me to a location on the net where I can get a complete list of Chinese holidays??? My wife is all the time mentioning that she is off work for some holiday that I do not understand. It seems they have many holidays and that they are very long holidays - sometimes a entire week. I really want to know these dates. Thanks, Scott (m-coon)
  7. Hi All, I was very surprised and happy to discover today that my I-129F was approved on Monday!!! The attorney had told me when we filed it in March that it would probably be September or October before this was approved. Does anybody have any information about this: Is this a "fast" approval or does it seem to follow the normal time of other applicants? And does anybody know what is the normal length of time until the completion of the next stage? And I hate to sound stupid but I don't really even know what the next stage of the process is? Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott (m-coon)
  8. Thank you everybody. Trigg brought up something that is not really related to this question - So I just posted another question to follow that line of information. I hope that you will go to that question and follow along with the new topic. It is titled "2 year visa - 10 year visa". Thanks All, Scott (m-coon)
  9. Hi Again, I am asking another question today because someone mentioned something in my previous question that is no way related to that question and I really want an answer to this also... now that he brought it up! This person mentioned that his wife had obtained a 2 year visa and that she would eventually get a 10 year visa..... I guess that I must be really stupid (not knowledgeable at all) concerning the actual visa that my wife hopefully will soon obtain. Is there different visas (green cards) that are issued for different reasons? I thought they were all the same - in fact I thought that my wife will obtain a visa (green card) with NO EXPIRATION AT ALL??? I thought that after the interview, that if she is passed - she recieves a visa (a green card) that keeps her perminantly in the US? Someone please enlighten me - I obviously do not understand the process as well as I thought I did!!! Does this mean that we will constantly be battling the government to keep her in the USA? In my first question - I asked about what happens if I should die before she comes to the US - Now I am concerned and want to know : what happens to her once she is in the USA and I then die??? If I die - does she have to return to China? How many years does she have to live in the USA before all of this is over and she can be considered a perminant resident or citizen? I sure hope somebody can help enlighten and educate me!!! Thanks As Always, Scott (m-coon) And Dan - my lovely wife still in Liuzhou, China
  10. Hi All, I don't know if this question has ever been asked... but it was on my mind to ask: Does anybody know at what point in the entire visa process can my wife "still come or still stay" in the USA if something were to happen to me and I were to die? Does she have to already be in the USA to be able to stay or is there a point in the process that she can still come to the USA even if I were no longer alive? She stands to inherit a great deal of money that would provide for her but I was curious about whether she could still come here to enjoy life in America? I hope somebody out there knows this answer - maybe some of you have first hand knowledge of this happening to somebody. Thanks all. Scott (m-coon)
  11. Hi All, I don't mean to sound stupid but I really do not know how "this" works. Once my wife has joined me in the US, is there anyway that her 21 year old son can come to visit? Is there any way to legally get him into the US perminately? Can any of her family ever come to the US to visit? I would really appreciate the knowledge you people have in this area. Thanks, Scott & Dan
  12. Hi Everybody, I have another question for you all. How does past credit effect the visa process? Can you all explain to me "IF" and then "HOW MUCH" does past credit play into the visa process??? Do they only like or accept good credit or does bad credit not effect the outcome of the application? Thanks So Much! Scott
  13. Hi All, We (Hua and I) have a translator we use daily. It is a close friend of hers; Thus is the immediate problem. There are times - such as right now - That I need an impartial person to translate some very personal letters. I am tring to discuss some very personal issues with her and I cannot use her friend to translate it as it would be very embarrasing for her. My question is: Is there anybody out there that can translate some letters or recommend another person to me that I can use on rare occasions? I will gladly pay for the services if there is anybody who I can trust to do the translation for me properly. Can you help me, anybody??? Please reply if there is any advice you can offer. I can be e-mailed at <snip> Thanks so much! Scott ---------------------------------------------- Use the email button for sending emails. Tony (moderator)
  14. Hi everybody, Thanks for the feedback. I wanted to add to my original post. Concerning the lawyer... I have chosen a lawyer that handled a case for a friend of mine who highly recommended him. He told me the lawyer did a flawless job on handling his case. I figure he must be pretty good to have handled that case as well as he did. Some may have heard of him... He is in California and his name is Bobby Chun. If anybody has more to add - I would love to hear from you. Thanks All, Scott
  15. Hi everybody, I would like to introduce myself to everybody. I am Scott and my Chinese love is Hua. We have known each other for 2 months now. We will meet for the first time in person in December. I am hiring an attorney to handle our case. I hope it will go smooth....but based on what I have read here - we expect the worse. I will be happy to hear from all of you that you have something to say to me and Hua. I am especially interested in comments on the use of a lawyer... Sincerely, Scott
