  1. ach used to be on friday, but is now held on monday at 2:30. you should arrive around 1:30 or 1:45. they stop admitting people at 2 or 2:15. if you have questions then you should go. if not, then don't go. if you go it wil be noted for the interview that you went to ach. maybe a couple of brownie points.
  2. i'm still curious if his honey filled out the ems label and paid the 20 rmb fee. he stated that all she received was the pink paper. if memory serves me correct when she pays the 20 rmb she should receive 2 papers. 1 with the address, phone number of the post office and the ems number. 2nd paper is a map with directions on how to get to the post office. there is also 1 more option which was not mentioned. you can call the post office and they will tell you if your packet from the consulate has arrived. you can even call in the evening if i remember correctly. it sounds as if she may have forget to make mailing arrangements for her visa.
  3. the passport is not in the sealed brown envelope. it is separate. as others have said its good for 6 months.
  4. many people get the pink without attending the interview with their so. i attended with my so and i'm glad that i did. i was able to walk her thru the entire process, attend ach, and assemble the interview papers and practice with her. if you can't go just help prepare her as best you can and i'm sure she will get pink. good luck to you. as a side note i don't know how many trips to china you have made so if you only have 1 trip i would recemmend that you make 1 more trip. it's very difficult to get pink with only 1 trip.
  5. when i was waiting for my visa here's how dos helped me...it does work. we received pink on thurs., visa was not at post office on sat. or mon. " i saw others at the post office picking up there passport on sat. that were interviewed on thurs. so yes you can pick up your visa on sat." here is the little known secret that most folks are not aware of: monday nite in guz at 830 ( this is 830 am in usa) i had a friend call dos for me. the dos agent told my friend visa was issued and mailed the same day. the next morning the visa was at post so yes it can help if you want to go through the trouble. most people are not aware of this little known secret. thats a secret how ? EMS tracking would have showed posting already. excellant question. 2 things here. 1. the op indicated he wasn't aware of an ems tracking number so he can't track it. 2. if he could track it it only would tell you that your paSSPORT IS MAILED AND NOT IF THE VISA WAS ISSUED. of course most of the time the passport will contain the visa but not always. faxing guz is also a good idea but i'm not sure how quickly they will respond.

  7. our interview thurs-10 days wait until visa issued,11 to pickup. DOS wont be able to tell you anything as i said before (and remember DOS is aday behind GUZ), its in GUZ hands you need to fax and email them. # are in the FAQS look at the consulate site they are both there DITTO!! I have never heard of picking up the visa on a Saturday? [/ you should study a little more then. its quite common to pick up the visa on saturday.quote]
  8. Chilton??? That phone number, is it the one that I have to pay 58 rmb or something like that and go pay for a pin # to use? Or is that a different system. If so, I need to figure out where to do that. Thanks everyone for your answers!!!!! no, its not. you will only have to pay long distance charges, if applicable. be ready to give them your case number your honey's name and sometimes they ask for your honey's birthday. you have to wait until monday at 830am to call. good luck! Thats what was said above, But in a more straight forward matter. just trying to add any help that i can. your response was totally off topic.

  11. hopefully it will be there on saturday. if not she will have to wait until tuesday to check again because guz only mails mon-fri and it takes 1 day to get to the post after guz mails it. we ended up waiting 5 days to pick up our visa. good luck!
  12. 2-3 days is the norm, but some people have waited 12 days, although thats rare. you can track the passport with the ems tracking number. good luck and keep us posted. what tracking number are you talking about? She is telling me that she only got a pink sheet, and nothing with an ems # on it. She is going to the post and they are saying that guz is not sending her visa to them yet. Now she went over to the post today [day 3] and still not there. Other ladies getting their visas that got pink the day after her are picking up their visas already. So she is very confused and scared now that something is wrong. She went back to guz today to ask questions and they are closed for the weekend. So, cancel the plane ticket back to beijing, and keep waiting in a hotel down there without knowing what is going on...... Is this normal? Is this the system? Get a pink, and then must sit and wait in a hotel at their mercy without being able to find out what is going on? Everything so smooth up till now, get pink, then mystery??? after she received the pink slip she had to fill out a paper showing where she wants the passport mailed. in your case this would be the post office. after paying the 20 rmb fee she should have received a receipt with the post office phone no., address, and ems tracking no. you can check the tracking no. after 7pm and find out if passport was mailed. you can also call the post office early in the morning to see when it arrives. i hope you receive it soon, but don't worry as we had to wait 5 days for our visa after getting pink. you can also call dos as chilton said. good luck!
  13. noooo! the i-131 and i-765 are free when filing at the same time or after filing the i-485. good luck, we are also preparing our aos package.
  14. No, I can remember her saying she didn't get it before she sent it to me. Either way, I'm not worried, but I will give another week before checking with DOS. The lady who got her's(from 001), got her's less than 4 weeks before her interview. We already filled out the GIV-24 already, we just really need the interview letter and the physical forms and instructions i guess.... we'll see newday, the only paper you "really" need from the consulate is the interview appt. letter. the rest you can download from guz and fill them out, even the medical forms. if you don't receive the p-4 you can go to ach and get another p-4 package to get the appt. letter. you only need this letter to gain entrance to the consulate the day of the interview. good luck!
  15. great writeup. the vo didn't keep my i-134 papers either and when we got to the poe the officer told my honey that my job papers were missing. it seems they are expecting the financial papers but guz doesn't include them. but all was ok after the cdp officer called his supervisor they let my honey through.

  17. yes, don't count your wife twice.
  18. i just realized your interview is in 6 days! you have to decide quickly whether to cancel the interview or just go for it. hopefully someone else will chime in and advise you as i don't know. technically your ok, but the vo can do whatever he wants. honestly, i think a blue is the worst that can happen. i think its unlikely you will get a white.
  19. vkearney, please read this thread. hope it helps you. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32841 pm me if you need more info. good luck!
  20. ditto what rob said. the vo has a free rein to do whatever he wants. consider his advice. good luck to you.
  21. your correct. maybe they retired. hehe.
  22. dave's info is acurate. the yang's will assist you in getting around guz. mr. yang called a cab for us and 2 others and rode with us to the medical. of course you could simply give the address to the cab driver. the yangs also looked over our paperwork, but since their english is very limited this has a small value. if you need help with the paperwork i would recommend getting help from smiling asia. good luck to all.
  23. i filed for k-1 and it only took 5 months. either i was lucky or perhaps things are moving more quickly now.
  24. 1. please re-read this thread and you will see exactly what documents to sumit 2. please read this thread http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32841 3. you need to fill out a new one. her current address will be different as will the date she signs the form. With regard to #1, yes, I realize the prior post was in answer to a K1, so my question #1 makes me appear dumber than I really am. It was a typo. I meant to ask, which of these forms, if any, must be submit for a K2 recipient (7 year old son)? With regards to #2 & #3, thank you. bill, sorry if i seemed a bit tough on you. i should have realized it was a typo. anyway, dnolett posted some good info as usual. take care.
