  1. Just wanted to say thanks again to the CFL'ers that helped out with this. The books arrived last Thurs, just in time for me to give them to Quan for her birthday over the weekend. She was thrilled and very surprised to have them again after so many years!!!
  2. I don't think you should have any problem using copies of your tax returns for your daughters AOS. I've been filing electronically for several years now, and used printouts of the PDF files, then signed each copy and wrote in the date I originally filed that return. Did this for AOS and K1. These were never questioned.
  3. We received two emails when they sent Quan's card. Their email system seems a bit buggy recently. Congrats on receiving the card!
  4. I came across a more official document that talks about cases not requiring an interview being transferred to CSC. http://uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/st...s_121305_ST.pdf
  5. It's a good thing to be transferred.... There are lots more talk of this at VJ... http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60073
  6. I believe you will still need to go to a Civil Surgeon in the US to have them fill out the Vaccination Suppl form and seal it in an envelope, even if no additional shots are needed. Bring all of the documentation of vaccinations to the doct appt with you. Bring a translation if the original is not in English.
  7. Hopefully it will be an early morning flight that arrives in China early enough to make connections with more obscure destinations. Avoiding a long layover is often one of the most difficult parts of putting together a flight from the east coast of the states to one of the secondary airports in China.
  8. I already did... http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=157876
  9. I saved them as text files and then just used a simple text program (such as wordpad) to print out the ones we decided to bring to the interview.
  10. Thanks David! I added in the Local CIS office (or my best guess at it) column. I don't know that CFL will have enough cases to really see any trends. This thread at visajourney.com is specific to cases that were transferred to CSC, but it has a much larger sampling and also lists local office. I'd suggest checking there for better idea of what local offices this occurs at. From what I understand, its the merits of the case that determine interview waivability, not the local office. Perhaps, offices with little or no backlog are not waiving interviews. Please post or PM me with any corrections of new additions!
  11. I thought it might be worthwhile to collect in a single thread all of the cases on CFL where members' I-485 has been approved without an interview. Though it seems to be happening more frequently, many members seem unaware of or confused by the possibility. Please reply or PM me if you know of any cases I missed. *** member *** | *approved* | submit/noa | ** RFE *** | transf CSC | * local CIS * | thread ---------------|------------|------------|------------|------------|---------------|--------- frank1538. . . | 2005-04-14 | 2004-04-15 | ** none ** | *** no *** | Atlanta GA. . | 9853 johns. . . . . | 2005-10-21 | 2005-04-12 | ** none ** | *** no *** | Newark NJ . . | 13550 Gene . . . . . | 2005-11-01 | 2005-03-?? | ** none ** | *** no *** | Seattle WA. . | 13683 Jeikun . . . . | 2005-11-08 | 2005-05-09 | ** none ** | *** no *** | Washington DC | 13887 johnjez. . . . | 2005-11-22 | 2005-03-?? | ** none ** | *** no *** | Hartford CT . | 14564 dalede . . . . | 2005-12-07 | 2005-05-?? | 2005-10-24 | 2005-08-?? | Charleston SC | CUC tonymasiello . | 2005-12-14 | 2005-04-02 | 2005-11-23 | 2005-10-20 | Boston MA . . | 14281 mikem. . . . . | 2005-12-29 | 2004-10-21 | 2005-11-25 | 2005-10-01 | Atlanta GA. . | 14998 n_c. . . . . . | 2006-01-12 | 2005-07-22 | 2005-12-28 | 2005-11-29 | ??? 12. Came home from xmas holidays on 12/26 and the GC was waiting in the mail. Not sure exactly what date it arrived, but it was within one week of the approval notice. I had taken the day off yesterday to take Quan and her cousin into Boston for the day, so he got treated to a trip to SSA enroute, so we could finally get Quan's SSN.
  13. I don't see the distinction. There are people from all parts of the world who cross the border into the USA, some of them legally. Once their legal status expires, they are not legally authorized to work, but many of them do.
  14. You should consult with an experienced immigration attorney who can properly advise you what is legally possible under your circumstances. At the very least, you would need to obtain a different class of visa in order to remain in the States legally and be able to work.
  15. Got the approval letter in the mail today!!! It was dated 12/14, so a mere nine day turn-around on our submitted RFE evidence. I'm still not sure what I missed (if anything) the first time around, but I redid the Affidavit Of Support package with an updated letter of employment and all the tax returns and W-2s.
  16. Thank you all, esp Joanne! I received an email from the Ebay seller, and he/she is looking into the shipping cost for me. His/Her english seems good enough that we have a chance to get this done. I know Quan could easily buy this herself, but she never would. She didn't bring any of her Chinese books here. We saw a single volume of Zhang Ai Lin in a bookstore at the asian market here, and Quan's eyes lit up when she picked it up and looked through it. One of the first things she shared with me when we started to write to each other was her love for this author. I would really like to surprise her with them if I can.
  17. Seems that traditional Chinese is okay. Quan told me that she did read books from HK that were traditional.
