  1. Of all the delays thrown at us in this process, I would say this is perhaps the most frustrating. So close and yet still so much uncertainty. Especially if you are trying to plan her move and accompany her home. At least we can anticipate much of the NOA2 and P4 delays. I wish you a speedy call from the consulate and all the best! Keep us updated on your progress!
  2. I hired a lawyer for our petition and I have been very pleased with his work in preparing my case. I felt that I didn't have the free time to do the research myself and do a thorough job. To me, the risk of making errors along the way justified the expense, and it was affordable for me. My lawyer's practice is all family immigration, he charged a flat fee with no hidden charges, and he explained clearly and percisely what his role in my case would be before I made any financial comittment to hire him. A lawyer is not the right choice for everyone, but I feel it has been a good fit for me.
  3. I am an atheist, and Quan will say she is also, but she seems more agnostic somedays. So far we seem very compatible in our beliefs. Quan is really a blank slate when it comes to knowledge of the major western religions, which I find to be truly refreshing and fascinating. We recently both saw the movie 'The Passion Of The Christ' and it was amazing to talk to her about the movie. She was able to view the movie from an absolutely unbiased persepctive, and see the story simply for the story that it was. I think just about anyone living in the western world, regardless of religion, would see this with some kind of baggage attached based on their views, upbringings etc.
  4. Thank you everyone for all of the info on the current batch of P4s and appts being scheduled for Sep. It is helpful to know we are seeing appts for others who are about one month ahead of us. I've updated my own timeline in my sig, and I am hoping that Quan will receive her P4 next month or in Oct. Neil, my heart goes out to you and Yaya. Hang in there and be strong. I hope you are the next one with some good news. You two certainly deserve it!
  5. Hello, Thank you both for your replies. I have not had a chance to call DOS yet. Hopefully this week. I did get an email reply from GZ which I am including here below... It is not as clear as I had hoped, but I am cautiously optimistic about it. Dear Petitioner, Thank you for your e-mail. It's no needs for your fiancee to resubmit the 230I form. Best regards, The Immigrant Visa Unit -----Original Message----- From: Tony Masiello Sent: Friday, July 30, 2004 9:49 PM Subject: Lin Quan Hello, My fiancee recently reviewed a copy of her form DS-230 as it was submitted to the consulate with her 'Packet 3' materials. She says that she left several of the 'not applicable' fields blank on the form rather that using the 'N/A' indicator as instructed. Should she resubmit a new DS-230 at this time to correct this? If so, what would she need to include when she sends the document to the consulate so that it is correctly placed with our existing case files? If she does resubmit the DS-230, will it affect our position in the queue for receiving an appointment letter? Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide!
  6. When I read the heading I thought you meant the TSC was moving to a new building Congrats on your approval and good luck with the coming fun at GZ!!!
  7. I know that no one can predict the future. I just thought perhaps someone else may have made this mistake before and had to deal with it. I'm going to write to GZ about it this morning. Thank you for your reply!
  8. My fiancee was fairly upset today when she read the instructions on top of the DS-230 that specifies using the 'N/A' for any fields on the form that are not applicable. She submitted the form two months ago, and she believes she left some fields blank. Now she is asking me to send an email to GZ about this to inquire if there is any problem with her DS-230 and if we need to resubmit this form. I prefer to not email GZ more than needed, but I'd also hate to have this holding things up without knowing it. Has anyone ever heard of this issue causing a problem. FWIW, she did fill in all of the 'applicable' fields. Thanks!
  9. Quan and I are in the same boat, as we got P3 in late May and even at that time we could see an ominous building up of March P3's that were not getting P4. I too had had expectations of getting P4 next month, but that seems quite unlikely now. For me, I'm disappointed, but not surprised. It seemed things were moving at a 'too good to be true' pace for us. For Quan, she really had her expectations dashed, and she has been on an emotional rollercoaster because of it. She is really not keen on making the move to the states in the winter. It will be a shock to her system, but at least we will be together at that point.
