CR1togo
Excellent! - Good job! I might have suggested including something to show her enrollment in school for next semester, but apparently it was unnecessary. Randy, the list I posted was from "our side of the pond". Talked to the wife and the niece DID take the college enrollment paper (and others from CN) to the interview. Niece's interview was 3 questions: 1) Q: "Purpose of visit"? A: "Tourist visit ONLY with my aunt and uncle." 2) Q: " Do you have a letter of invite?" A: "Yes. Here it is" Niece as instructed handed VO BOTH the letter of invite AND the "open letter to consulate" posted above. 3) After VO read the letter of invite and about half of the above letter she asked Q: So have your parents been to the US?". A: "No, but my grandparents have. I have copies of thier visa from before". "I won't need to see it. You're approved"Visa is multi visit/one year. Link to comment
david_dawei
My wife's mother and brother went to their interview today. Her mom received a visa while the brother did not. The irony is that he has stronger ties to return, more money, more assets, more family reasons (wife/son), etc... The mom really has very little and they did not ask to see a single piece of evidence or ask about property/assets. There was another mother and daughter who interviewed together and only the mom received the visa. The only unknown we felt going into the interview was he works for the government/police and is CCP. He may try again alone several months later. Only a few questions:1. why do you want to go?2. who is there in the US?3. what are your travel plans? 4. What is your job (to the son)? They only related that the VO was rather stern and uninterested in 'talking' much. As soon as he announced "mom goes and son does not"... he didn't break a breath to call for "NEXT". Link to comment

MikeXiao
Thanks Tsap. That's more what I was asking about. An idea where to start. I had read the first 6 pages or so and got lost in the threads. I just needed to understand where to start the process. How have you been? Like I said, I've been away for a long time. Good to hear from you. Link to comment

dnoblett
Supposed to be some kind of joke? Nice. And your admin? No joking, I see a question "where to start?", I give a straight answer, at first post of the thread, I could have simply copy and pasted post #1 as an answer, there is not much more that can be added to the first post in the thread. Kind of circular I know. Link to comment

MikeXiao
OK, point made and taken. So she will have to go on line and fill out the DS-160, after she gets her passport. Does not appear that we can fill out the 160 for her. Since it is done online, I guess all suporting documents will have to be taken with her to the appointment? Or can they be uploaded with the 160 like the photo? Anyone know? Link to comment
