What was your wife's first car?

Teaching my wife how to drive the new car - I discovered a button that folds the mirrors up against the car. That should come in handy - previously, I've used motor cyclists for that purpose.

But she's on her own, now. I wouldn't WANT to be in the car any more when she drives - I'm too nervous. :P

Gave her my 1996 old Chry, T&C mini-van for protection, plus she sits up a little high than a car for better vision, figuring if she does have an accident she stands a better chance of coming out of it OK. She does drive to work everyday, no problems, just doesn't like driving more than 15 miles, tires her out. AZ written exam taken, 4 x before she passed, RT passed on 1st attempt. She hates to make left-hand turns. Gave her one lesson as she wanted to drive in the middle of the road, told my son, here you teach her LOL, did this because it was easier for him to tell her chinese what she was doing wrong. Our son also took his RT in this vehicle, failed the 1st test and passed the 2nd, told the both of them, if you pass the RT driving this, you'll have not problem with a smaller vehicle in the future. She been stopped twice for drifting, but no tickets.

Wifes first car was a "98" Ford Escort .... $4000 w/69000 on it Not a bad car and she loved it.

I taught my wife to drive even though she got a license in China .... she never drove there and learned to drive on a driving course. She passed her written test ( permit) and road test first try. We gave the Escort to my stepson when he started his senior yr in HS and Jing bought a Kia Rondo ( small SUV ) she never did any damage to the Escort UNTIL she got the Rondo .... then she backed out of the garage and into the side of the Escort!!!

So i had to teach her to use the side mirrors instead of only the rearveiw mirror.

The only other accident she's had was when she was rearended when she slowed for traffic .... and thanks to that we had the damage from her previous mistake fixed for free :) Got her a good GPS and now she drives all over the state for work and never has a problem. She's been driving less than 1 year

Tai tai can get lost going around the block. Seriously, when she is a passenger, she pays no attention to where she is. Sometimes I get to an intersection that she drives through all the time and she has to think about it.

Same thing with my wife... she doesn't rememeber anywhere she goes... it once took her 1 1/2 hours to get home when it was only 20 minutes away. She refuses to follow the GPS. I have the avoid highway feature turned on. She goes to 3Timescharms house good enough now, that where she was coming home from when she got lost. He gave her a map. I asked why didn't you use the GPS... she said it kept telling her to make a left... Not sure why she didn't want to take the left.

I'm afraid to teach her to drive on the highway. She says she can drive fast now :o

She has been driving her car for about 11 months.

Her car is a 1999 Toyota Altima, drives pretty good. So far, so good.

You have to be careful with those things - I got in an infinite loop once when it kept telling me to turn down a road that was barricaded. Every time I went past it, it would just direct me back to where it was.

Oh YES! I have a Magellan that has a few strange behaviors with regard to the NY Thruway. This past summer heading home from the north country it wanted to take a route that was nearly two times longer than it should be.

THE CORRECT Route:

GPS for some reason wanted to go straight south to Syracuse, then east on I-90 to Utica NY, then in some other direction, eventually making it home after adding nearly 200 miles to the trip. I knew something was wrong when I was just north of Syracuse, so I simply did the correct thing and head WEST on I-90 to home, all the while the GPS kept telling me to get off I-90 at every exit along the way trying to suggest a longer way home and every time I ignored it I could see the ETA drastically drop in time. But for the most part for local travel it has been fine for my wife.

Yes, but from where we are... it is right... if she took the left, it would have took her to a road that was right... not sure why she has the thing.
