Stephen
I¡¯ve spent many hours in the last weeks looking at every internet site I could find that had posted time lines. It seems that every single person that I have seen, that had an approval date within a week of mine, in every other US consulate in the world has either already had or is scheduled to have the interview. Why can every US consulate in the world have an interview scheduled in the time it takes Guangzhou to receive the mail. Guangzhou also seems to have the highest rate of blue slip issues. When I open the dictionary and lookup ¡°Rouge Consulate¡± I saw Guangzhou¡¯s picture¡ Yes really! Link to comment
Yuanyang
Don's right Stephen (as you already know). We asked USCONGUZ about staffing and it was a subject they not only didn't want to talk about but asked that we please not bring it up again with them. Link to comment
Theresa
I am just very frustrated in their DHL practice. NVC sent my packet to GZ by mistake on Sept 25. It should have been sent to Korea. BTW, Seoul asked my packet to be transfered to GZ but GZ has not even received it yet. I checked DHL site, and all other shippments reached their final destination within 4 days(including Shanghai, and BeiJing) except for GZ. If my packet went to the correct embassy, I could have gotten my packet 3 by now since Seoul send Packet 3 by email as soon as they receive in mail. I just can not understand why it takes so long for GZ to receive it? Do they have a different custom law from Shanghai or Beijing? Do we need another month or two months delay because of mailing system? What is going on? In the international law, I thought documents don't need to go through the custom, and even if they need to, it should not take this long. Is there anything I can do to help our future immigrants in China? I don't think it is really fair to waist our time and days for non sense reason. Please someone explain to me why? and where I need to bring this attention to? or please convince me why it has to be like this in GZ even though there is no other place has this practice in the entire world. warpedbored
That Theresa is one of the great mysteries. I have asked GZ before why it takes so long for a petition to clear customs. I never received what I would consider a satifactory answer. If your petition is at the DHL warehouse waiting to clear customs it usually takes about 4 - 6 weeks. Hopefully when they do get it they will send it to Seoul for you in a timely manner. Link to comment

A couple nights ago I was eating at a Japanese restaurant and was sitting beside a family from Syria. The man of the family told me that they had no trouble at all getting his whole family over here. Now, I'm being nice and I was polite. While I was being polite the wheels were spinning in my head and I'm thinking "Syria" WTF. And look at the dance we have to perform. Oh, don't get me started!!! johnxiaoying
Too much population to deal with I guess. lol Exactly! GZ processes the visas for a population of 1.3 billion. That, along with the budget constraints and the Chinese Exclusionary Act make for a long wait. Link to comment
chilton747
It all has to do with funding and the federal budget. The budget folks in Congress decides how much money goes to consualte services. Of course, European and Middle East consulates get the best end of the stick. China is still frowned on by the WW2 hold-overs in congress who see it as a communist threat. With sufficient resources, GZ could compete with London as far as processing time and services (excluding the 'extra' security and background checks for citizens of communist countries). In simple terms, the money ain't there and they do the best they can with what they've got.I have another take on this matter. The Europeans and the Middle East have money. Most of the time they come here and bring money. Obviously very few Chinese come here with money. Isn't this what the USA is all about? Money? Link to comment

I understand that a lot of Chinese of wealth actually left China to Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States due to the fact that the government has been know to confiscated properties and wealth, especially during the cultural revolution under Chairman Mao so there is a distrust of the government?
