My wife also passed her interview

Recommended Posts

Her interview was on March 30th. In the morning. We arrived at the consulate 7:30 am. And there was already a decent size line. At 8:30 am, the outside security guards check your passports and the interview letter, and then gives you a numbered ticket. Then you can go in .

My wife chose her interview in English. Even though we communicate in Chinese. The VO asked for our pictures, and asked what my email address was. The last thing that he asked was my current affadavit of support.

My wife told me that the key to the interview is having full confidence. I guess the VO looks out for this.

The interview was on a thur. So our visa was ready on sat. The China Post office opens at 9am sat. But we arrived there at 7:30 am. There was already a line outside. At 8:30 am, the security guard opens the door, so you can go in and grab a number. You know one of those numbers that the computer dispenses out. It was crazy though. People ran to that computer, and were pushing and shoving each other. I was very angry because we were one of the people up front. There was no order, courtesy whatsoever. Im not use to seeing this. If it was here in America, people would just be polite and get in line

There is only 2 people at the China Post, handing out these EMS visa packages. So its kind of a slow process. So be ready and get there early.

Anyhow, its good to be out of GZ, we are back in her hometown, and will be leaving to USA soon.

respectfully,

Lee

Thanks for the report. I found it useful.

My girls interview is in 12 days, and I am already turned off about the thought of people pushing and shoving in line. Maybe because my girl is not agressive at all, and a bit too nice of a person. I hope she don't get bumped around all over the place. I should warn her about this in advance so that she'll know what to expect.

And by the way, congratulations on the interview. = ) Finally it is over, and you can go home now with her.

As for picking up visa package at the post office, I suggest not to go there early in the day, unless you have to leave GZ right away.

On the day I picked up my visa, I slept in, got up around 9 am. Then packed up my suitcase and left it with the hotel front desk (most hotels provide luggage storage service free or with a small fee), and checked out the hotel. It was around 11:00 or even 11:30am when I arrived at the post office. It was nice and quiet. I was served by two relaxed post office workers, had a friendly chat with them while checking out the information sheet. After that, I had a brunch leisurely with a friend at a nice dim sum place. Then picked up my suitcase and headed to the airport. :D

Yeah, we all love the good news like this when we get it, thank you very much for giving us advance notice about getting mauled ... sounds a little like getting mauled in the big American shopping malls, yes, no? Anyway, congratulations on SO passing interview and you guys have a happy life together! Always the best, Wheel Man
