I am from Washington State. A DC'er is called a Dry Columbian, yes?

Yes I admit I have been a closet voyeur, but now I am here to share my plethora of never-to-be-humbled opinions, and meet good folks who paddle in the same creek as I. Any other Washingtonians out there??

I am very familiar with the Hunan food. ITS ALL GOOD, BABY! My biggest dilema is finding those murderous sichaumn peppercorns that melt your mouth. I cannot find them anywhere. The worst part about going to China is eating real chinese food, then coming back to the States. (sorry, i need the Mr Yuk face here)

I am glad to be here with you all.

Next time you go to China you can bring back certain packaged foods and spices with you. Customs allows anything packaged except meats. So you can bring back those killer Sichuan peppercorns. They sell 'em in just about any market in China. Of course, you'll need your SO to translate the package for you so you don't accidentally buy something really strange.

You're right - it's ALL good!

Yes, i will definitely have to add this to My shopping list of goodies to get. I have learned to travel over light. I am 6 ft 7 so i cannot buy clothes over there, otherwise i would not even pack a suitcase. My daughter was so disappointed when i took her. Out of all the department stores in beijing she could only find one pair of shoes that were in a big enough size.

Wish I could bring back a couple barrels of those fresh water eels

But I come home pretty heavy handed. I am a fabricator of stone and concrete, so I bring back all kinds of heavy things. A little tip if you are afraid of going over your weight limit, fly NWA out of beijing. If you state that a particular luggages are very fragile, the luggage goes to a new a seperate conveyance system that does not have a scale.

Yes there are a few Washitonians here I hail from the Seattle area. Careful bringing back the Sichuan peppercorns, some of them are illegal to bring into the States. Department of Agriculture, something about them being in the Citrus family and they can carry some kind of evil wevil. Big discusion on it here about a year ago. Probably can find the thread with a search
