Thanks guys.. I finally got ahold of a person, and they told me during the fingerprinting appointment, then they can change the typo... whew...
-
Hey, got my NOA for my wife's 10 year GC... and her last name is spelled AUEN. Hmmmmm hopefully it was just a typo and not some stupid idiotic government employee who cannot read. Anyway, did this happen to anyone else? When I called the VSC, I really cannot get past the computer to a person, and when I enter the EAC number, it keeps coming back that they cannot find the account. So... will they fix it when we arrive for the fingerprints? Should I keep trying? Anyone know a number besides 800 375 5283? Thanks one and all. Peace out my brothers and sisters in CFL.

Here is another question I have been wondering. The instructions say to have 2 affidavits from close friends of the relationship. Is this a specific form or can a letter written from them suffice, as long as its notorized? Thats what I did, and I mail my stuff this week.. Hmm... damn government paperwork...

We were CR-1, and we just immediately applied for her SSN in our name. Her passport still has her family name. (chinese) She has left and entered the US without any difficutly whatsoever. I say it really wont matter much, once you have a green card, she doesnt need to carry her passport around with her everywhere she goes. Peace

Yup, of course she is worth it. Also, it wasnt a question of too much, it was more like I had heard that the rate was increasing, and wondered if its true, and the date... I submit our 751 in just a month... so I call it a case of making sure.

Yeah, I saw that Carl. I am hopeful that the slooooooooooow moving government wont pass anything prior to Apr 10th, when I send in my application... B)

There seems to be major push back against this on the Democrat side of Congress. It seems the message resonating is that this is a tax increase on poor immigrants, exactly what the Democrats don't want on their record. Makes sense... who would want to be seen doing that?
-
Ok, thanks. The way things move in our congress, it shouldnt affect me ... phew..

I posted this in the wrong section, so I will try again... I heard the price of the 751 goes up soon. Any idea when this will happen? I dont think we are able to submit the 751 before 4/10 which is in the 90 day window... Any thoughts?

My wife feels that isnt a great gift. I think if I did it for her two brothers, she would use the knife on me.... hahahha...

You will see that everytime you save money, even if its a dollar, you will earn brownie points... Which of course will be taken away at each blunder..

Now its about to change of course. My wife is coming up on her 2 year green card. Goodness gracious, hard to believe its been that long. My question to all knowledgable personnel, what form do I use to go from 2 to 10 year green card? She was a CR-1 visa, and we did not need an interview upon her arrival here. Is the form needed a 485? And I was on the INS website, and I thought I saw I will need a 325.00 fee to file. Is this right or am I just numb from all that has happened in the past couple of years? Hard to believe I am a government employee huh???? Even I dont understand the paperwork. Have a great New Year all. Michael & Lu Jing

I agree with David on this. I went CR-1. She arrives with her number, and the green card arrives within 2 weeks. Cant beat it. This way no interviews left when she arrives.
-
I think she was walking slowly... taking her time and window shopping along the way...
-
I dont think she needs to return to china for a 10 year green card. I believe I need to apply here at INS.... We will be married 2 years next may, so maybe I better check if that is when she gets her 10 year card. Sorry Don, about the mix up between K-1/K-3. ... But I thought it was K-1 which is the fiancee visa.
-
Maybe most of the folks here already know this, but just to inform the ones who dont.. one difference I noted in CR-1 vs. K-1 is that my wife was here only 3 weeks and already received her green card. Yup, should have seen the look on her face when she saw she was a permanent resident already. Of course, we need to get the 10 year card, but we dont have any appointments to make, fees to pay, paperwork to file to get her 2 year card. CR-1 might be a bit longer, but I think it was worth it. Now she does too. Have a great day all.

Proving the ties is VERY important - they turn down people for this reason alone. The wait for an interview (the only wait for these visas), however, is usually on the order of a month, but with only a 25% success rate, according to stories. This information is from Chinese friends of mine at work who have had their parents over. One, however, had his parents turned down 4 times before they finally gave up. 141523[/snapback] Wow. thanks for the info. My wife comes from an influential family, so maybe that will help. But who knows.. it could be palm greasing, if you know what I mean.
-
Hmmm yeah, ok. I am sure she can prove her ties. There has been no mention of staying at all... dont think that would be in her plans in any way... so I guess I will start this process soon... ugh. But who knows.. in a year or two.....

Ok, all you smart guys out there. Now that my wife is here, is a permanent resident.. (got INS letter today yippee...) I have been thinking, I would like to bring her mother her to visit next year sometime. Since we just finished our process, I am sure it will be another year long investment of time and energy. So.... What is my first step to apply for a visitation visa for her mother? Any ideas to get me going? Thanks... PS.. Best of luck to our new P4's and interview CFLers....
-
Great for you two.. now you will see.. time will drag even worse, because you actually have a target date... Wish you both the best.

Congrats and best of luck in the interview.. maybe more P4's on the way.
