  1. I was preliminaily approved, however they want my husband to send in his 2014 tax return. He has not filed taxes for 3 years as he has been living in China and makes just a teachers salary well below 19,000 USD. He has always been told that he did not have to file taxes from co workers. The officer told me he could write a letter stating he did not have to file taxes but I want to know does he need to send proof of that and what proof does he need to include? We ae using his dad as a co-sponser so that is reason we were not worried because his dad has filed taxes. Now he is not sure if he is going to have to file, get transcript from irs, and wait. Has anyone beenin this same scenerio? Or does anyone have some advice? WE want to get this sent in soon since we are hoping to move back o states in 2 to 3 months. Also how long does it normally take to get visa after sending in needed documents?
  2. Hi to all, I recently recevied correspondence from the Guangzhou consulate that my wife can begin scheduling an interview date through CGI stanley. I am not DCF, I filed my paperwork stateside with NVC. Through recent correspondence with the consulate, they said that I should "bring most recent year tax records for myself and sponsor to interview" (2014). What they didn't specify is whether or not the most recent tax return can be a photo copy or an official IRS transcript. According to the Instructions of the I-864, photocopies along with W2's 1099's etc. are acceptable. Does the Guangzhou consulate use the same guidelines as the I-864 instructions? Would I have to fill out a brand new I-864 along with the new tax record? This is important because I mailed my taxes rather than e-file, and would have to wait until the end of june to receive an official transcript. This would push back the interview date considerably. Not to sound supersitious (actually I am lol), I wouldn't irk anybody at consulate for contacting them with these question? I have already contacted them twice with other interelated questions, so I don't want to appear as a pest. Thanks
  3. Hi There. Quick question. Does a joint sponsor need to supply 3 years of tax returns or will the most recent year suffice? I, the main sponsor, have all 3 years. Thanks
  4. I am currently living in China and married to Chinese spouse. He has applied and been accepted to a graduate program in the US starting fall 2014. Ideally, we would like to stay in the US after he finishes his studies, but current circumstances look like it will be more likely that we return to China after he graduates. Originally, we planned to have him just apply for a student visa but after doing some research, it seems like us already being married might hurt his chances of being granted the student visa since it may be difficult to prove his intent to return to China. What we could provide to support his intent to return to China are his name on apartment deed and letter from employer stating that his job will be held. It's also difficult to find a job in the US with the program he is entering. The other thing is that his mom has recently passed away and he is an only child (Dad is still living) . Based on this information, does anyone have any thoughts on how difficult it may be for him to get the student visa? Recently I've been researching DCF and am questioning if it might be the "safer" way to go. My biggest concern right now is being able to provide the tax return info of our would be co-sponsor. 1. Am I right in that the first time tax return will be asked for is at the interview date? Our co-sponsor normally files their taxes in October. 2. If interview (or whenever the forms are needed) is after april 15, is it certain that the current year's tax return will be needed? I think this might be the most difficult document for me to get. Thanks in advance for any comments or advice!
  5. Our interview won't be till end of this year, so I'm preparing well ahead of time. I haven't been able to find any reliable information on what exactly is needed when submitting an Affidavit of Support. For example: Tax transcripts or returns? Do they want a W2? How many paystubs (if a regular employee and not self-employed)? What other forms do they need? I want to prepare over and above what is necessary and give her every single piece of paper they could possibly request when the time comes.
  6. Hello I am preparing for my interview. My co-sponsor retired already, so for the interview, I am going to give the VO my co-sponsor's 2012 tax return photocopy, driver's license photocopy and i-864 , is that enough? He doesn't work now so he does't have a w2, right? Thanks in advance.
  7. Can I make a copy of my last two years income tax return ( 1040 form) , then send them to my parents for their visit visa interveiw ? Or I have to send the original ones. I know I can order online. Just think why not just make a copy by myself. What's the different ?
  8. Hi, So I just noticed my Wife's name on the past 2 years of tax returns has her name mispelled by one letter. They have it as SuQuing instead of SuQing. What can I do to fix this or will this be an issue sending the Tax Transcripts in with the I-751? Thanks, Vinny
  9. On question 25 of the I-864, the box says "I have filed a federal tax return for each of the most recent tax years. I have only been working for a year and a half so that's not applicable to me. My parents are joint sponsoring my wife, so they will provide their past 3 years tax returns. Should I still check the box and attach my tax returns for last year or should I just leave that space blank altogether? Thanks! Mike
