  1. Hey guys, Need a little bit help here. Here is the situation: My husband stayed home taking care of his uncle for the last 5 years, meaning my husband has been unemployed for these years with 0 income. After his uncle passed away, he succeeded his money and properties. Currently, we are at NVC stage and we are selling the primary residence house to have the money in the bank as asset for I-864 because we are moving to another state after I get back. We also are getting our friend as co-sponsor who earns a very decent annual income. The reason we didn't have families as co-sponsor is either because they dont earn enough or they are retiring in a few years. Info abt me: young, healthy, BS degree in Engineering from a famous US college Our questions are: 1. Will the CO accept our friend as co-sponsor since he is not a relative of ours? 2. Is our I-864 in good standing? 3. Any suggestions? Best Wishes, Jack
  2. I called them today, it says NVC closed today . Anyone knows why ? I'm very disappointed at their work. Soooo sloww... .
  3. After 60 days I sent them documents, because of income filled wrong number, I had to sent then another form. I'm very frustrated with that mistake. I really hate to wait another 60 days. Is there any way to get interview letter sooner ?
  4. I got a letter from NVC. It says: [x] Item 19. Your ____________ income must match the total (gross) income reported on your ___________________________________ Federal income tax returns. If you filed Form 1040EZ, use the adjusted gross income instead I filled out that section with my gross income based on my W2. because I thought it's 1-864EZ form means I'm the only one sponsor. In 1040EZ , it's My husband's and my income together, we file joint tax return every year. Should I fill it out with the adjusted gross income of both of us ?
  5. Question: Will the interview package email or mail to me ? I sent my documents through email. Thanks.
  6. It looks like we're getting closer on the paperwork for Mei's siblings to come to the states. USCIS is telling us that there needs to be a form; DS260 filled out and submitted online. I've been trying to get to a point where I can at least look at this darn form so that we can prepare and make sure the info they ask for is at hand when we're ready to do this. Any ideas?
  7. Were taking care of the DS-260 as i write this post. There is one question i/we are not sure how to answer. I/We feel this question be answered as YES because by the time of interview wife and stepson will have medical done and vaccinations will also be done. Should we answer YES? Dan: If you feel this topic should be merged with my other topic? Please merge the two together.
  8. A simple Google search "DS-261 Incomplete" you will see how wide spread this is. And I happened to be one of the victim. After your case is forwarded to the NVC, you would soon received an instruction letter, assigning you a Case Number, and showing you the steps: Step 1. Choose an agent Step 2. Pay fees Step 3. Submit visa application form Step 4. Collect financial documents Step 5. Collect supporting documents Step 6. Submit documents to the NVC With this instruction letter, you will also get an Invoice ID to pay your AOS (I-864) fee. You log in to NVC website, and click on their link to file "DS-261" choice of agent. After you submit online, it will show "COMPLETE". You also pay your AOS fee by clicking the "Pay Now" link. A day or two later, you get an email saying AOS fee is now PAID. Ok, good. But you haven't received the IV fee bill yet, so the IV Application link is shown "N/A", can't pass Step 3, have to wait. So you wait a couple weeks and you log in again to see the status of the case. To your surprise, the "Choice of Agent" is now showing "INCOMPLETE". So you do it again. Sending the DS-261 again. WRONG MOVE. The thing is, your IV fee bill is somehow "linked" to Choice of Agent. NVC will send you the IV bill after they process your DS-261. By sending the DS-261, again, you would somehow "reset" the clock. Do not do this. So you ask, "why it is showing INCOMPLETE then?" There are many guesses. The most probable guess is that people click on the COMPLETE link, being curious or ancious about waiting, and the link takes them to the Choice of Agent form again. If they log out or simply close the browser there, the website thinks you are trying to sign a new Choice of Agent form and hence show it as INCOMPLETE next time you log in. So the lesson is: be very very very careful when you do your Choice of Agent DS-261 online. Double, triple check it before clicking on the SUBMIT button. And after that, FORBID anyone in your family to click on that link again. Above are my experiece so far and I've been waiting on the IV bill to arrive for two months now (Since Nov-2014). I'm new to this, so if there are inaccuracy to my understanding of the situation, please let me know too. I'm here to learn also. Hope this helps.
  9. Well folks we made it through NVC and with no check list. I just checked the CEAC site and it now shows CASE COMPLETE. So it looks like we'll be headed to GZ soon. Question: Anyone know how the interview day is set up and when?
  10. hi. i submitted the supporting documents to the NVC. They stated that "The birth certificate we received is from the incorrect issuing authority" My wife went to her home town of Herjian to get the copy of her birth certificate. I believe she went to the police station. Where is she to go to get her birth certificate? thank you in advance for your assistance.
  11. After I submitted the last email which include everything they required, and paid $325 for ds-260 form, I found out the cover sheet had been changed. I wonder if I have to send the documents with new cover sheet again ?
  12. When I emailed the affidavit of support form it says : you much send all documents in one package, but keep the attachments below 5mb. What's the one package meaning ? one email ? or several emails at the same time?
  13. After 7 years' waiting , finally hear from NVC. Now I have a question about birth certificate. The notarial certificate of birth is good enough ??? Thanks
  14. NVC phone 603-334-0700 I tried many times never worked , why?
  15. We got NVC welcome letter, and there is a document cover sheet in it. I wonder what documents we need to prepare , I know I can follow the instruction to do it step by step, just want to know it advance. The case is FB2, it's being proceeding. Thanks !
  16. hi, after paying the fees. i am submitting supporting documents. pictures and proof of our relationship was turned in, along with our marriage certificate and our divorce papers. am i to resubmit these papers at this time? can i submit pictures from recent time together and / or conversations since i turned in the petition?
  17. Hi, at this point in the process with the NVC, i have completed the ds-261 and paid my (the petitioner) fees. I have emailed my financial and tax transcripts. it has been about 5 days since i have submitted the documents. how long will it take for the NVC to process. Also, when will I be able to pay my wife's application fee?
  18. Well IV payment just show up on the CEAC site for both wife and step son. (payment was made today online) Once payment clears will start the DS-260 online. BTW: AOS fee was payed long ago. We will soon be ready to summit all documents (I-864,tax transcripts and all supporting documents) Now per the NVC for scanning and sending of said documents. Notice it says ONE packet! Then it goes onto say. MUST BE BELOW 5MB The marriage cert alone is 5.76mb and is a PDF. How am i going to sent all these documents in ONE packet and keep them below 5mb?
  19. HI, Is there a particular doctor that my wife will need to go to? I think that she has to get some shots. when she sees the doctor, is there anything in particular that she will have to explain to the doctor?
  20. Hi, I am ready to email the I-864 to the National Visa Center. But, i still haven't received the Alien registration Number that is listed on the form. When and where do i receive this number?
  21. thank you for your response and information. i also have to say thank you for all your help thus far. it has been very helpful to us. i will definately scan and email. Will I need to submit the cover sheet as well with the I-864? Also, some of the douments that are listed on the cover sheet, i have previously submitted. Do i just mark the cover sheet as not applicable? I am currently visiting my wife for a second time. Can we submit pictures taken from this trip as well? Alsowhen will we receive our Alien registration number
  22. Okay, we got approval from USCIS for my wife's son. He is 18, so no wait for visa. We had him get white book for police report and birth certificate. The notary made a mistake on the birth certifacte. It shows his birth date as xx/xx/98. Should be xx/xx/96. I assume we need to have birth certifactes for him and mom at the consulate interview. Is this correct? This means we need to make sure the date is correct.
  23. We filed a DS-260 in April and sent supporting documentation in July. We just received an notification that all the documents have been received: "Dear Sir/Madam, All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified. The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa. The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview. Sincerely, Director National Visa Center" Our case number is a GUZ######### and the priority date is in July 2013. The letter above states that we will be notified when an appointment has been scheduled. Does this mean that they will send us a date and we have to go at that time, or will we be able to schedule the date? When should we expect to hear more from the NVC or the Guangzhou consulate? Also, what are all of the next steps and approximate time lines? Is there anything I can be doing now to help move things along?
  24. My wife received approval of I-130 to bring her 18 year old son to US. This was approved on 8-25-2014. It shows they sent it on 9-3-2014 to NVC. She is US citizen so there should be no wait for Visa. Any Idea how long should we expect to receive the instructions packet from NVC? Visa Bulletin seems to indicate maybe we should call if it has been 3 weeks? Does that sound about right?
  25. Sorry for all these questions...about everything. I'm needing to fill out the I-864 for the visa process for my wife's daughter. My wife is the petitioner (she sent in the I-130 for her daughter), I'm going to be the sponsor. Do I just fill out the regular I-864 or ? It gives these options.... You can use the I-864EZ if all three of the following are true: You filed a Form I-130 petition, for your relative (I didn't file the 130. My wife did.)There is only one applicant on the Form I-130 petition, and (There is only one applicant on the 130, her daughter)All your qualifying income comes from a salary or pension and shows on one or more W-2 Forms that you receive (All the qualifying income does come from my salary and shows on my tax returns I'll be sending in.)Then it gives this.... If none of the above apply (but some of them do apply) and you can use the regular I-864 So my main question would be is my wife the sponsor and I am a supporting sponsor? Or am I the sponsor as it's 'my' income it will be based off of. And what form do we use????? Sorry. Maybe I have "form overload" and they all scare me!!! Or at least making a mistake on them does. Thanks again!!
