Wow. Things have really changed since we went through this. Ningning's sister passed her interview November 30th. That's just over 5 months after I129f was filed. I'm not sure she has received her visa yet, but the interviewer said it was all good. She does have a plane ticket already. Looks like they will be together for Christmas.

Somebody's not doing their job there, probably at the police department. It sounds like something she'll just have to get done one way or another. Maybe she can go there herself and lead somebody by the hand? I haven't heard of anyone being denied a police report at their hukou for any reason. Once the report is issued, then it only needs to be taken to the notary office. You're absolutely right Randy. Her brother in law had a contact at the police station. When Baba went to see that person, it was no problem. Then he took it to the notary office and now it's just a matter of time. Incidentally, the I-129F was filed in June and she is now eligible for interview. So much faster than it was in 04.

Carl, it was ages ago. I have very good memories of that trip North. I agree about somebody not doing their job. Hopefully we can get it worked out soon. Ningning & I as well as her sister's fiance and the entire family will all be together in Nanning in two weeks. So excited about that. Maybe if we all show up en masse..... In any event, I will certainly keep you posted of the result.

Hello All, My lovely wife of over ten years came to me on a K1 visa after meeting online and I have absolutely zero regrets. CFL was a huge help to us back in the day. Her sister has now met a man from USA and is engaged to him. His K1 petition was sent to the consulate last week from NVC. She has a Nanning Guangxi hukou but currently lives in Shenzhen. Her father has tried to get her police certificate at the notary office and was sent to the police bureau to get the report, but the police told him a new rule has been in effect since August that prevents them from issuing the report to an individual. They tell him that it must be requested by the Notarial Office directly, but the Provincial Notarial Office says they do not yet have a procedure in place to accomplish this. Has anyone else from Nanning or Guangxi province in general come up against this? What should they do? Thanks in advance, Phil

I would certainly include the photos with the application if you have any question about whether they are required or not. It's cheap insurance and something simply not worth worrying about down the line. I seem to recall submitting them with ours. Not sure.

We returned from China on Sunday. Today I had a chance (energy & motivation) to sort through the accumulated mail and there it was! Sweet Ningning is a Legal Permanent Resident!

You should have called 5 minutes sooner Ron. I had a choice of 3/21 or 3/28. Anyway, we just returned from USCIS with great news. We were told her application was approved yesterday, 3/20. Green card not yet ordered, but no ambiguity here. She is approved. Before being told of the approval, she said there would be no problem reentering as long as we have the extension letter. Sometimes I worry too much.

Thanks Carl. That is precisely what I am worried about. I made the Infopass appointment today. We go in next Friday morning. I hope they can take care of it, or at least make a note in her file.

The affidavits required are to be from two people who have known the applicant since the green card was issued. They can be family members, or not. They must include full name and address, place and date of birth, and contact information of the person writing the affidavit. It should also include information about how they met, extent of the relationship with this person, how often you see them, normal married couple, and like Trigg said, blah blah blah.

I-751 was submitted in October. Biometrics were taken in December. RFE in January for additional supporting evidence with March 26 deadline. Supporting evidence was delivered to CSC February 26 by certified mail. We met the deadline, but there is no record in the USCIS system of deadline being met. We will return to USA after the deadline. If the records are not updated prior to our return, could this affect re-entry?

Hello everybody... I almost feel guilty for only posting when we need help... We received a RFE for Jiening's I751. There is a deadline on it of March 26. I have a post office receipt showing delivery on February 26. So far, there is no record of the data being entered in the USCIS system. It does not show on the website or the automated phone system. I was transfered to somebody with the title of 'Officer' and she told me that I should not expect to see this information online, as I751 receipts are not viewable there. She put me on hold for a minute and came back to tell me the same thing. No record in the system. Normally, I would not sweat this, but we are leaving for China on March 26, the same day as the RFE deadline. My concern should be obvious by now. What happens if we get to the POE at LAX on April 13 and the information still has not been entered? We have the original receipt letter that extends her green card for a year. Will that be enough? Should I worry?

We have two computers with windows vista premium. My wife's desktop I set up microsoft pinyin ime 3.0 easily a year ago when it was new. Just last night I did my new laptop the same way about an hour before I saw this thread. It's all done very easily from within the operating system. Go to regional and language settings in the control panel. I found it to be even easier than xp because the computer will display the characters right out of the box. All you have to do is setup the input method. with xp I had to first figure out how to display them.

Well, we've been waiting to receive an approval notice for the I-751 that we filed in October. Instead we got an RFE. They want basically everything I submitted with the application in the first place. Apparently it is a standard form letter type request. Identification, financials, residence, witness affidavits, a statement of the progression of our relationship and marriage, the usual. They also have requested a G-325A from each of us. I didn't send these originally. Was I supposed to send them with the application? Did I miss something?

I have a friend at work who's wife entered the US on a K1 from Mexico. She has a young son that followed to join with a K2 nine months later. The boy got his green card some six months or so after his mother got hers. It is just days away from time to file her I-751 and my friend asked me today if he should file for the boy at the same time, in the same package, or completely separate from his mother's application, due to the fact that the two year card is still valid for another nine months at this time. I didn't know so I told him I would ask the experts. Phil

Jim you can file the I-751 to remove conditions anytime within 90 days of the green card expiration. The process took us 7 months so I recomend you file as soon as you can. Thanks Carl, After I posted this I actually read the link. Too bad I will have to file before I can get Jen on to the title for our house. Oh well so much for my ace in the hole. Since Jen wants to head back to China for a visit, she won't be happy if it draws out to 7 months, guess we'll have to see. It's ok Jim. She can travel with the I-797 NOA 1. It states right on it that the green card is extended for one year. That is good to know, as we are also thinking of another trip possibly in April. Currently California is processing I-751 requests within 6 months. April is cutting it close. By the way, how soon did you recieve the I-797 NOA 1 ? Hey Jason, We're going in April too.
