I actually use two different cards. Recently I have begun using BigZoo.com for the printouts and great rates. Ever since I met Ningning though, I have used one called 'Destiny" from phonecardsonsale.com. The rate is the same as BigZoo, there is no maintenence fee or connection fee, and they have a point system where you can earn a free card if you buy enough. $19.75 for 850 minuutes by local access and the sound quality is much better than BigZoo. I would say about 95% reliability as far as connection quality, sometimes it is not so good. No problem, just hang up and try again. It is nearly impossible to get through on holidays, though. I always use the destiny card if I think we may discuss intimate issues. Phil

I have had very good luck flying into Macau (MFM) rather than HK or GZ. The fares are quite reasonable via EVA airways and the airport is very small and efficient. I would imagine HK has a rather large facility. I am not sure what the availability is from PDX but it might be worth investigating. Phil

Same here. We have talked about going to the beach next summer. We'll see how that works.

I foresee Ningning getting here and experiencing the same thing. I live in Southern California, so there is lots of sunshine. Last time I visited her, there was a 'sunny' day when I was preparing to leave. I am not sure she will be prepared for the change.

Neither am I an expert on the situation, but I know you are allowed to take out 5000 dollars if you can get it exchanged first. At the imigration checkpoint leaving Zhuhai into Macau there is a huge lighted sign stating to this effect. I have crossed this border several times and it has been there each time. Good Luck.

Carl, I am fairly new to this board, but the closeness of it's members is obvious. It scares me to death that Ning may go through what you and Bing are experiencing now. I crossed the border from Shenzhen to HK just last Wednesday and there was an office of the China travel service in the customs area of the HK side. I was not concerned with a Chinese visa at the time so all we did was book a hotel from there. China travel service in Kowloon booked a ferry trip to Zhongshan for us and the visa business was booming in that office. I was the only American there, so I don't accurately know any difficulties you may experience. Call them. I get my visas from the consulate in Los Angeles. It takes one week. Phil

Hi All, I am new here, just a couple of posts. Tonight, I will be off to China for another visit with Ningning. The nearly 21 hour trip to Zhongshan doesn't even bother me, I am just so excited to go again. Last time we traveled to Nanning to get her family's blessing. Filed I-129 in late January, attorney said wait until August 5 for any word on progress. She is working on birth certificate, police certficates, and single certificate now so we will be ready when the time comes. Does anybody have suggestions for me as to what I can do in the next ten days to simplify and expidite things later? Phil
