  1. Yeah, I hired a PI and had my fiancee followed for 3 months before I decided to send in my I-129F. j/k On a realistic note, I can't remember the website Chinese women go to that is all in Chinese - 101 or something? I do know most Chinese women do a ton of due diligence and checking before agreeing to being a couple, marriage, etc., with an American. If a woman in China moves too fast it's usually a red flag - for the American.
  2. We got delayed 6+ months in GUZ, so by the time we cleared the blue slip my then fiancee was about 1 month until the 1 year exam would expire. The Civil Surgeon suggested we do another physical and knowing how some people in government work and not knowing how long it would take before we could get the AOS done we got another physical along with the full series of shots. If it was 3+ months I don't think we would have bothered.
  3. Yeah, it is confusing. I often wonder how in the world people could navigate and find the information, forms, and other things necessary before the Internet. Must have taken several in person trips to government offices, many, many phone calls, waiting for forms to be mailed out and sent back, etc. For our AOS we needed shots and were within 1 month of the 1 year physical being expired, so the medical check stuff held us up a little. Arranging all the forms, bio, etc., into another large packet to send out was about the same as the initial I-129 K1 visa filing. Just the cost for filing the papers is $1010 You have to go for yet another fingerprint appointment You may be called in for an actual in person interview, but some couples just get mailed the green card if everything was prepared correctly.
  4. I used callingcardplus.com. They track calls by phone number calling from and to, length of call, cost for 2 months, so you can print out records for evidence as well. Cost is about 1-2 cents per minute. Look into the different offerings and find a card that doesn't have connection/disconnect charges, monthly fees, minimum minutes used, rounding up of minutes and other rip offs.
  5. hehe.. haven't played since Burning Crusade.. got to 60 Warlock and quit due to time differences with the people I played with.. Sword of a thousand truths. though would be funny if there was a CFL Guild, too bad WoW is region locked like most newer games out now (regionally locking / licensing per region is lame) thanks for the grats :3 That's great. Quitting WoW is actually a good thing. It sucks up too much time and generates too many crazy situations. I played BC and a little Lich King. Have like 5 level 60's and 3 level 70's, but gear-wise I never raided or played much after BC came out, so my characters were all in gimp gear. So many people in the guild never quit, still spend insane amounts of time in game, and it was actually scary to watch. Besides, I doubt my life would have moved on if I remained dumping 8-12+ hours into a game. Much happier with a wife and forming a life together as I am sure you will be as well. Best wishes again.
  6. Took us 7 months to get a SS card and we started trying 3 weeks after she entered the US and went in about 6x.
  7. That's a good fare and I hope you have a good trip and she passes the interview. I'm sure you being there will mean a great deal.
  8. Sorry to hear. Filipino friend brought his girl over from the Philippines in about 6 months or less on a K1. I kept reading it was far easier in the Philippines to bring in an immigrant. If the blue slip doesn't ask for them to do anything or provide more information they just need to wait.
  9. I filed electronically and just copied my printouts for the latest year - 2008.
  10. You play WoW? What dropped off the CO?
  11. Hey, the 2 year green card arrived today. It's also pretty fancy and high tech looking.
  12. Wonder if it will be even more elaborate than the Beijing Olympics stuff. Looks far more extensive.
  13. Yeah, the child is actually not a US Citizen if you read the article, so it isn't an anchor baby, like that case where the Mexican woman as well as her US citizen baby were both deported out of the US about a year ago.
  14. I was lucky enough to be with my then fiancee on the flight over here and going through immigration and customs. We also went through SFO and your description was excellent. Congratulations on being reunited. It's been close to a year with my wife now and sometimes I'm still in wonder that we are together here.
  15. I really do believe it is the CO having a bad day/week/month/life and luck of the draw. Some are power tripping. Some just want to be an a-hole and some actually do due diligence and their job and grant visa's or at least have very good reasons for denying. Having a child/husband/family at home and owning property/business in China seems to be the main criteria. This area and having relatives in a country so far away, with visas to the US so hard to obtain, and the costs so high was a detrimental factor for me What is even a bigger concern is the US/China relationship for all intents and purposes is good right now. They are sort of co-dependent, neither side wants to piss the other off, China is enjoying prosperity, etc. I can't even imagine if we were in some sort of armed conflict, the Chinese dumps US treasuries and sinks the dollar, or there is some other problem that would make visas, much less immigration impossible.
  16. Immigration is strange. Sometimes it feels like they lump illegals with legal immigration and even with a 10 year green card people are sometimes looked at funny. Special situations like in this case are rare, but they do show the hardships and problems some folks face and how stupid the laws can be. I think in many cases the government is trying to prevent illegals coming here, giving birth to a child on US soil, then using that as the reason the parents should have citizenship as well. However, this flies in the face of some politicians who want to grant amnesty and give all illegals here citizenship or legal resident status. I obviously feel for this lady, her new kid, and her poor husband and their relatives and hope the immigration problem is solved. Somehow I feel like it won't be easy for them and they are going to have to go through many hoops.
  17. Getting the same immunization doesn't seem to have an adverse reaction. It's just getting a useless shot and having to pay for it again. We went in to get the third HPV shot for my wife last week. Couple ahead of us were getting shots for USCIS and his wife was repeating shots because she had no records.
  18. Some folks have said this is the case, but you never really know.
  19. I'm sorry to hear about the blue, but if you follow the advice and just gather what they are asking (even if it makes no sense) then you should be able to overcome the blue quickly.
  20. It depends on how well your case is prepared and the CO and their mood on the interview day.
