  1. Fiancee received a response from Guangzhou stating that the passport with visa was on the way in the mail. hurrrrrrry! StevePA - Dealing with Guangzhou and ??????? was the worst customer service experience ever. (I say "???????????" because there was no one to ask about our case....The background check was just in processing seemingly forever). The good news is that you two must be very close to receiving the visa, and you'll never have to go through all this again. Stay strong! You'll be together soon.
  2. Finally got the call-in letter at the end of December. As expected, my fiancee had to get another medical exam, as the one she took for her May interview had expired by now (>6months). She mailed her passport with the paperwork to the Consulate in a couple of days ago, so hopefully she'll get the visa within the next 2 weeks. To recap....August 2010 to January 2012 August 2010: Started Application for K1 visa. May 2011: Interview with delay due to fiancee's CCP membership. (written CCP membership explanation provided at the interview) July 2011: Consulate requested fiancee's resume, which we immediately provided. (which prompted my venting in this thread, as that paperwork was not requested at the interview, creating significant delay) December 2011: Received Call-In Letter January 2012...will receive the visa (as long as it's not lost in the mail)
  3. Congratulations! I hope that means they will process our CCP delay soon, too. My fiancee had her interview in May and got blue slip'd because of CCP. Then they asked for and received her resume in July. It's December and we're still waiting. I wish they would please hurry!
  4. Recap...Fiancee had her interview in May. They requested and received her resume in July. Now it's December and still the CCP issue has not been resolved. By this point, I'm not angrily venting anymore. However, I might have to vent again if they all of sudden ask for a resume-type document again after all this time. At this point 7 months after the interview, my fiancee and I have gotten used to waiting, but it takes a lot of emotional control not to be depressed about the whole process since you have no control over it in any respect. ...I mainly come to this site when I feel bummed about the whole process. Is there anything I can do at this point to get the gov't to process our file? Isn't it about time?
  5. My fiancee had her K1 interview and medical exam in May. She got a blue slip due to her CCP membership. They requested more documents in July, which we turned in. Now it's September and we're still waiting. My questions: How long is a Medical Examination valid for? Does it need to still be valid at the time of: 1. Visa issuance and 2. entry into the U.S.? In my case should my fiancee get another medical examination? If anyone knows the law in this area, please advise. Thank you. Robert
  6. Thank you for the heads up. I searched for laws about this, but didn't find much. However, I found this for the US Embassy in *Japan* (but I believe it would still be valid for Chinese immigrants): http://japan.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-ivmedfaq.html#nineteen "How long is a medical exam report valid for? "Medical examinations conducted in connection with immigrant visa applications have a maximum validity of six months and must be valid when you enter the U.S. The consular officer shall limit the visa¡¯s validity to a period of validity of the medical examination. If the alien cannot arrive in the United States within six months of the date of the medical examination, the alien must repeat the examination." I'll have to sort this all out. Fresh visa headache!, but thank you again for the info about the 6 month requirement.
  7. Hobber - My fiance¨¦ had her interview May 17th this year and got the blue slip for CCP reasons. Then, 2 months later in July they asked for her resum¨¦. It's now mid-September and we're still waiting. Although this process is frustratingly slow, it's comforting to know that no one has reported ultimately being denied a visa due to CCP membership. Here's to hoping our fiance¨¦s get their visas SOON!!! I'll post back when Guangzhou finally gets this thing processed.
  8. I came here to vent. Figured people would be understanding. Thanks for those who showed sympathy. Everyone telling me to be patient or calling me a hot head -- I know that this whole process takes a lot of time. Telling an angry person not to be angry, telling a sad person not to cry, telling a hungry person not to be hungry, etc is not super helpful. Sometimes you just need to vent. I thought I could do that here without getting judged. I feel much better today than I did yesterday and am glad I had a community to express my frustration. If you went through the whole Visa process without getting extremely frustrated at some point or another, then kudos to you. I've lived in China the last two years with my fiance¨¦ - and I have to leave to go back to the States in a week, leaving my fianc¨¦e behind until she can make it out there. It's kind of emotional over here. I religiously followed other's experiences on this forum who also had the CCP issue. On the extremely lucky end of the spectrum, I saw that at least one person overcame the CCP issue in 2 months flat, seemingly because they turned in the paperwork all on the day of the interview. I hoped beyond hope that we would be in the same boat, especially given the reassurances that no other paperwork was needed after the interview. Having that bubble suddenly burst under these circumstance and the manner of poor communication by the Consulate - call me a hot head if you want, but it's all extremely frustrating and I expressed it!
  9. We didn't submit a resum¨¦. Perhaps that is what they need. If so, I'm glad they decided not to ask for it during the interview and wait two months to send a letter to ask for it. ...Being patient. What else can I do? Rage that the government has the power to interfere with my personal life like this? It's just how it is. Just accept it, because you can't change it. meh. As you can see, I'm in a very bad mood.
  10. Here's the front of the blue slip as well: http://i.imgur.com/swWs3.jpg No additional documentation was requested.
  11. My fiancée had her interview May 17th. She had the CCP membership problem. She went into the interview with her written and signed CCP membership explanation. The interviewing officer said everything was fine, but the case would require additional processing because of her CCP membership. He took the written explanation and told her no other documents needed to be submitted. On the blue slip he gave her, no additional documents were requested. The only box that was checked as for the explanation of the blue slip was that "additional processing" was required. It then advised to contact the Consulate every "few months" to check on the case status. I know better than to wait a few months to contact them, because if they ever have problems with the case, they do not contact you to let you know. If they actually do send you a letter and it doesn't reach you, you're just left sitting there twiddling your thumbs totally oblivious to the problem thinking all is well and being processed. So, I emailed them on June 13th, about a month after the interview - not content waiting a "few months": "My fianceé received a blue slip after her interview due to her Chinese Communist Party CCP membership. She gave the interviewing officer a written explanation as to her CCP membership at the interview. It appeared nothing else was needed by the interviewing officer. We just wanted to check if any other documentation was required. Also, can you please tell us generally how long it will take until we receive a decision about the visa? Their response: This case is still under administrative processing. Though we do not have an exact date as to when we will finish this processing, we will inform your beneficiary by mail once her case is ready for further action. Then I emailed them on July 17th, 2 months after the interview: My fiancée's visa interview was on May 17th. I am writing to check on her visa's progress. Also, will she receive a phone call with the decision? Their response: Please be advised that your beneficiary should follow the instructions on the instruction letter that she was given after the visa interview and submit the requested documents to us first. We will further process the case once receive her supplementary documents. I responded: At the interview, my fiancée gave the interviewer her written explanation as to her CCP membership. He said that he didn't need any other supplementary documents. Furthermore, on the blue slip it doesn't request any further documents. What documents are needed then for Guangzhou to further process the visa? Please advise. Their last response: Please be advised that we will send an instruction letter to your beneficiary indicating what documents she will need to submit. Please advise her follow the instructions on the instruction letter once she receives it. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm raging inside, because I leave China in a week to go back to the U.S. without my fiancée for who knows how much longer. From the Blue Slip and the June 13th communication, the Consulate seemed to be processing the Visa after the interview without needing further documenation. They mention nothing about needing more documents. Then 2 months after the interview, they suddenly tell us to submit the requested documentation that was requested at the interview. I've gotta shout: NO FURTHER DOCUMENTATION WAS REQUESTED AT THE INTERVIEW!!!! It's 2 months wasted! We still don't have any idea what documents they *suddenly* still are waiting for to continue processing the case. You can't call the Consulate. Their email replies are curt and sometimes non-responsive. Why can't the Consulate use email for communication?! I'm afraid my fiancée will never receive a letter from the Consulate in the mail. She had trouble receiving packets 3 and 4, before - and we only found out after several emails that the packets had been sent out and should have long arrived. (Yes we double checked and even re-submitted/updated the mailing address) The communication on the part of the Consulate is so frustrating. Bad communication = mistakes. Even little mistakes = many months delay. [/vent] Here is a picture of the only thing checked/ written on the blue slip:http://i.imgur.com/QoNfp.jpg
  12. My fiancee got a blue slip (as expected) due to being a member of the CCP. Everything else in the interview was no problem at all. She interviewed on May 18th. She had the CCP explanation ready to turn in, and the interviewer was impressed she had already prepared it. (Thanks CFL for the heads up!!) On the blue slip it says: "Your case requires additional processing. We will contact you by mail to inform you of our decision when we finish the processing. You may want to contact us every few months to check your case's status. You may email, fax or send a letter to the consulate at......." My question is whether we really should wait a few months to follow up with the consulate while we're waiting for the CCP issue to be processed, or do we just wait patiently and quietly until August if we don't hear something. Is there any downside to contacting them early as long as we don't pester them? Thanks! (Side note -- Many people at the hotel my fiancee stayed at told her she should lie about the CCP -- The thought had crossed our minds when we first became aware of the CCP issue. How could the U.S. ever find out who is in the CCP? However, lying about it is grounds for getting permanently kicked out the U.S. if they ever find out. It might be a small risk that the U.S. could find out...but for those of you thinking of lying about the CCP membership -- everyone can overcome it with a standard explanation, and it only takes a few months. Isn't that worth the peace of mind that you don't have a lie in the U.S. that can get you kicked out permanently??)
