  1. Well Jimi, consider what month you flew before, it is summer now and more expensive. Did you fly in the fall or winter before? I have flown in May and November, and always cheaper than my next flight in July... yeah,i understand its summer, peak season, but shouldnt a one way ticket be cheaper than a two way? i flew in end of May 978.00 to Guangzhou. for a two way ticket........i flew in september,May 2 times, and in January....... i notice China air is alot cheaper......but am i mistaken,i think China air is a part of "Delta"...when i took Delta last time ,the flight was delta 0018 and also had a china airline flight with it.(delta 0018 and i think CZ 2610)or something like that.....it was the same plane...hahaha
  2. anyone know some good sites to find some good one way airfare prices from CHINA.....shanghai to Atlanta........my wife has a friend, she is trying to fly back with her,she has a flight on Delta(oo18)leaving August 12th,now this blows my mind, If i put into a travel search engine, one way from Shanghai to Atlanta....it will cost me 2052.00,more than i have ever paid for two ways going from Tampa, florida to Chongqing.I put in the search engine for a two way ticket,i get a price of 1400.00.( flying delta).........what???????????? how crazy is this.? should i buy a two way....just use the return ticket? Jimi
  3. It seems things are improving, things are moving quicker,Guz seems to be running a little bit kinder.hopeing things continue to improve. My K3 petition was denied in October 08,it was officially returned to US May 11th,2009.......and what do I do about this K3 anyway, now that our CR1 was approved.? Anyway good luck to all of you who recieved white slips. Jimi
  4. LPR's can file for their children - as my wife has done. Takes closer to 10 years, than 5 (as for a citizen) If she was over 18 at the time they got married, the step-father (the US citizen) can NOT file an I-130 for his step-daughter. K-4's cannot adjust status, if they were over 18 at the time of marriage. So tell us what your situation is, so we can clear this up a little for you. Yes,i posted this early in the morning,a bit vague sorry.the daughter is 21 years old.We are CR1,we had a k3 denial in October 08.The wife says, with cr1 it takes 5 years to apply for her, while the ir1 it takes 3 years.I thought a step father (me)could file.but i guess is not possible? jimi
  5. last night we got into a discussion, and the wife was saying, for CR1,it takes 5 years before we can apply for daughter, and the IR1 only takes 3 years. We were wondering when can we apply for daughter. thanks. Jimi
  6. Thanks Tsap Seui, I am sleeping a little better now that this nightmare part of my journey is over, new life challenges I am sure, but good to move on from our denial in October '08,.i think many of us that have been wronged by Guz,I think we all shall prevail,it just sucks that while they were "swatting at flies with blind folds on "sort of speak, those of us that got hit and knocked down, had to wait to be united with our loved ones.Good luck to you and all the others that had to put up with Guz's crap !!!! to all, don't give up !!! Jimi
  7. Yeah,I suppose....as the saying goes"one more for the road " jimi

    Isolation

it is one of the things i worry about when my wife gets here.Isolation....she has made a network of friends on 001 ,who are now already in USA.and there are a few who are members of CFL,that live here in the Tampa area....I certainly want my wife to have as many Chinese woman friends as possible...is very healthy. Good thinking Jimi. I know you'll try your best. If you want to watch someone die from the inside out, just deny them the opportunity to mix with their own people and culture after they get to the US. It's now been just over one year since I moved to China. I am completely isolated here. I work in an office with over 400 employees, every one of which is Chinese. I am the only Westerner at this office. I can tell you exactly what it feels like to long for someone to talk to, and need someone who not only listens, but understands and can relate to you. I often try to share things with my wife, about the various challenges I experience. She usually listens, but honestly, doesn't get it, as she doesn't share that frame of reference. I've talk to other Westerner's from time to time, who immediately know what I mean when I bring something up, and can relate their own experiences with the same things. It's so validating, and just makes you feel good. One little shot of it goes a long way. Yet, sometimes, there is just nothing to be had. Maybe some people live in and isolated area, where options are limited. What then? The answer to that one is hard to know. Because I've been hungering lately to talk to other local Westerners, I've been spending more time looking for support groups and Web sites where I can meet people. Nanjing doesn't have a strong community yet, but there are some. I'm still looking though. You just can't give up. I know what you mean, when I visit in China, and i get together with my wifes family, they all love me,but none of them can speak english, except for my step daughter, and then my wife would be next in line, but the rest of the family, can not speak english, and we are all sitting around a table and they are chatting away,.having a good ol' time ,laughing etc etc,and I feel the isolation, because i do not speak Chinese,i am learning...but you know what i mean......its isolation, and the feeling is horrible.......now on my last trip...i met up with an american friend who was also visiting his wife in Chongqing....what a pleasure, just to talk to someone in the same language, street talk ,have a beer, share the same experiences or what have you.....yeah,very important for the wife to have friends...to keep her spirit alive
