  1. We have an Infopass appt tomorrow to find out more about it. Patrick & Li
  2. While this could be good news, it certainly sounds like something out-of-the-ordinary is going on. Patrick, is it true that you've been waiting two years for a fingerprint approval? Were you ever notified that your petition would be delayed for a suspected hit on the fingerprints? Despite the need for all of us to reach for optimism, this indeed sounds very unusual... They state that "processing on the case continues." That review of the fingerprints is completed; what are the findings? No, In fact, We were in NAMECHECK hell. For all practical purposes, we have been approved except for that namecheck. I wrote my Senator about 2 months ago, and they sent me a letter stating that they could inquire about the status of our case with USCIS but there was nothing they could do about the Namecheck. So yes, we have waited since 10-2004 for our Namecheck to clear. Our interview was approved pending the Namecheck in February 2006. Patrick & Li
  3. I checked our status online and got a different message this time. The message previously was there for almost 2 years. This is what they said...... Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS Current Status: Fingerprints review completed. Review of the fingerprints taken relating to this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS has been completed. Processing of this case continues. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our MISSOURI SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register. I cannot find Missouri Service Center. Is that the Kansas, Missouri SC office? I am still in shock. Patrick & Li
  4. I am not quoting anybody nor am I agreeing or disagreeing with anything said. BUT,..... In my own experience with dealing with all of this mess. Nobody in Immigration is so organized that what one says all others will follow. Pat
  5. OH!!! THE HORROR!!! I am not usually a very patient person, except with my wife. I was always soooo patient with her. But then I convinced her she needed to learn to drive. OH, The HORROR! I still wake up at nights with the cold sweats. I feel very fortunate to be alive. My wife got here in June of 2004, We started very soon after that with Driving lessons given by me. - OH, The HORROR!!! We started out in the High school parking lot, very benign. After about 2 months of learning to stop, learning to drive on the correct side of the road, I figured it was time to advance to "The Country", OH, THE HORROR! I'll never forget our 1st "Uh Oh", She was driving down this certain country road, and I as always was sitting on the edge of my seat, with that certain tenseness waiting to spring into action when she made any mistake that could kill us. I told her to take the next Right. We get about 50 feet from the road to turn but she is still going about 40mph, So I say " Honey, Are you going to turn", So at 40mph, she tries to make the turn, WOW! She actually made the turn without killing us, BUT, In her excitement, she forgets to let the steering wheel go back straight and we run off the road which is actually a 10 foot drop off. After the truck comes to a complete stop, and I get out of the car, I shake and I cuss, and she sits there and cries. I manage to get the truck out of the ditch without a towtruck. I am steaming, and she is crying and swearing she'll never drive again. 5 minutes after this incident, I realize that I was a little too strong with her and I apologize, and then I pull over to the side of the road, collect my nerve and make her drive again. Now, another story. Our house was on a incline that led down to a lake. One day we get into the truck for our daily driving lesson. By this time she was about a D+ driving student. She gets into the truck, and I get in the passenger side, I wasnt really paying much attention because she had done this 100+ times. She put the truck into reverse, but instead, our truck lurched forward. I tell her to put on the break, but still rolling forward. Now, I am yelling at her, PUT THE BREAK ON! She's yelling back, I AM , I AM, Its too hard. Now we are starting to roll down the incline, and I can see the lake in front of us, and in a panic, manage to force the truck into park on the steering column. We are literally about 10 feet from disaster. After I manage to get our truck back to the parking spot, We both go back into the house, I am cussing, she is crying. Later, I realize what she has done. I have a Ford truck, she got into the truck, and before she started the truck, she put it into Reverse, Now she has no Powersteering, and No Powerbrakes, but yet the truck was rolling downhill because the Reverse wasnt stronger than gravity. To me this is a Hazard that needs to be address by FORD. My wife now has her Drivers License, and she is a pretty good driver. I no longer watch her while a passenger. It took her a long time to get to this point, but it was from neccessity that she did. Good luck to ALL you newbies. I have lots of HORROR stories, but those 2 are my best. OH THE HORROR, Patrick
  6. Ummmm... What is I-751? I thought that once the AOS was filed, only thing left was either filing for citizenship after 10 years or extending greencard. Is that what I-751 covers? Patrick
  7. I was informed by the person on the other end of the line that they no longer gave out information about NAMECHECKS. GRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I am about to reach my cussing stage!
  8. Yep, Ours has been expired for 3 months now.
  9. As most of ya know.... We applied for our AOS 7-2004, and had our interview 2-2006. Greencard is pending due to the Namecheck. My wife is planning on going back to China next summer, and has started making all of her necessary arrangements. I am starting to worry that maybe, just maybe, she wont have her GC by then. We are in limbo because I didn't apply for a extension on her K-3. The VO at the AOS interview said it wasnt necessary because she actually has a status now except for the Namecheck. Yea, well tell that to the man at the airport who wants her paperwork complete. Anybody got any ideas as to what I should do? Patrick & Li
  10. umm umm umm....All i can do is cringe when I read of your journeys. I hope to God that we can just get ours smoothly, but then again, nothing has been smooth so far. Patrick & Li
  11. Great news Kim & Jake. Good luck in your future! Patrick & Li
  12. Translator has to be a certified translator. Go to a college nearby and ask for one. Reason I know this is.... I heard a latin couple talking in the DMV and the officer told them that they couldnt just use anybody, the translator has to be certified. Officer recommended a college nearby.Go figure! Patrick
  13. Sounds to me that at least ur making some progress Kim. We are still stuck in Namecheck Hell. I am guessing our fingerprints will expire soon and we will be forced to redo those. I think my wife might have an anuerism if that happens. Wishing for the best for you and yours, Pat & Li
  14. It stands to reason that given a JOINT CUSTODY arrangement, the father would have to sign off on the move. In a SOLE CUSTODY arrangement, he does not. The amount and relative difficulty of a bribe will vary from recipient to recipient. Others have simply decided to wait until the child's age makes the issue moot. 212888[/snapback] Was just trying to offer my limited bit of knowledge. Patrick
  15. It has been a while since we did this, but my wife had joint custody of her son. But, before the GZ embassy would grant him the K4 visa, He had to have a notarized document from his father giving his permission for the son to live in America. They would not under any circumstances grant him the K4visa until this was done. If it makes ya feel any better, You'll be surprised at how easy it was to bribe the father for a modest sum of money to sign those documents. Patrick
  16. Hey all, Interview was in early February. They told her everything checked out good, but still waiting for FBI namecheck, We haven't heard a thing since. Anybody know how I can call a number so they can tell me I am still in Namecheck HELL! Thanks all, Patrick
  17. Hey man, My heart goes out to you and yours. I want you to know that My wife also went thru that BS. She actually had her name checked and then before she could get her interview, the namecheck expired and she had to do it all over again. The namecheck is only good for 6 months. Anyways, She has been here now for almost 2 years. And now she is going thru the Namecheck crap again with her AOS. BUT, At least shes here with me. Cuss, cry and scream, but above all, try to be patient. Patrick
  18. We sent off for the AOS and EAD at the same time. I was unsure about the I-130, but filed anyways. Got the EAD, got the SS#, and got our Drivers license in that order. Still waiting for namecheck, but should get our AOS soon. Patrick
  19. Li passed her interview according to the officer but she won't be getting her card until she goes through another name check by the FBI. One day, when it all doesnt matter anymore. I am going to tell them where they can stick their Namechecks! Patrick Son passed his interview, and because I filed seperately, The officer said he would be receiving his card in the next few weeks. Go figure!
  20. Louis, I can truly commiserate with you. HLS needs to cut their losses and start over. They might be able to salvage a reputation if they would 1st admit their failure to us as citizens of this great country! Patrick < Who is off on his own tangent!
  21. Glad you could attend. Come inside, Come inside. Part2 of our saga. Wife completed her fingerprints in Charlotte. We couldn't figure out why our son wasn't required to do the same. Just figured it was his age. WRONG!! Got a letter in the mail saying he needed to be in Charleston on 2-6-2006 for another set of fingerprints ( Exactly as my wife had done previously. DOH!!!! Now we figure he will also have to go to Charlotte soon for the 10 finger prints. Wifes interview date is 2-16-2006, sons interview date is 3-10-2006. Which is also about stupid considering I filed them both at the same time. All you can do is shake your head and go forward. Patrick & Li
  22. Congratulations! And remember this....... Never look a gift horse in the mouth! Patrick & Li
  23. Just got back from Charlotte today (110 miles exactly) My wife had to do a 10 finger biometric. Its funny, but we just got back from Charleston (about 220 miles) to do 1 fingerprint. DOH!!! Don't ya think maybe they could have done the whole shebang there. Naw, I guess that would make too much DAMN sense! We go for our AOS interview in February, it is maybe 10 miles away ( GO FIGURE) It is at a local branch. Absolutely ready to get this CRAP over with! Patrick & Li
