  1. http://i47.tinypic.com/rj0gog.jpg Gong Xi Fa Cai ´º¹ In light of the back-to-back blizzards that hit the norheast, the TIGER is most appropriate for the year because the year definitely came in like a tiger and not like a lion. The last time I saw back-to-back snows was in 93 or 96 but which ever year it was, it was alot of snow, over 30 inches! Fortunately we didn't get the brunt of the snow this time. It was too far east of us but we got some, around a foot. But yes; "2010-the year of the Tiger". The Chinese calendar was right on the mark! Happy CNY!
  2. I was curious, so I did a search for 'Hung Lou Meng' and found nearly nothing posted about the story except for a very little. Classical Chinese just doesn't cut it here, I guess. And I guess I should've known that already, eh?... http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...ost&p=34470

    Snow coming!

I heard on the news that Baltimore and areas up north have gotten more snow since 1899.

  5. Thank you, finart, for the videos. They are very beautiful with the music. It has me thinking all about the story and the many characters again. Yes, Tan Chun. I remember a little of her, mostly when she left the family forever. I remember Wang Xifeng, (Splendid Phoenix), and how cruel she could be when she wanted to. She left a man, who was interestd in her, outside and told him to wait for her. The man waited a very long time in the cold for her but she never showed up. The man died. And as you have mentioned, Xue Baochai. I remember her too. And especially, Lin Daiyu, (Black Jade). I made a post one time about the actress that played Lin Daiyu, Chen Xiaoxu, when she died. Again, sad, but a real story. But who's to say 'Hung Lou Meng' is not a true story, or at least based on a true story? That has been debated by scholars for over 200 years!... Even Xueqin Cao's story is a most fascinating tale. Phoenix met a rather disasterous demise near the end of the story. She was alone at the house and grounds which had become ruined over time by neglect. She was running around outside all alone and in a panic when the ghost of all the people she betrayed started appearing before her. Reading that was a bit spooky. Yep, great novel! Thanks again!
  6. I remember the fate of Qing Wen, (Sky Bright), one of Jia Baoyu's servant's. She was very beautiful and because of that, she was casted out of the household and thrown unto the streets. She became a destitute poor woman and paid for it with her life. Very sad.
  7. Congratulations to you and your wife, Allen!
  8. Pretty cool, Tony. I put in ÁÖ÷ìÓñ and she pronounced it good, Lin Daiyu, (as soon as I get it all set up accordingly).
  9. I got my taxes done today by H & R Block. Came out pretty good, $4218 on federal and $798 on state. Sounds like time to take that vacation I always wanted. Take my qizi to the Mariana Islands to Marpi Point. It's not too far from Shanghai, only across the Philippine Sea to the Yellow Sea. Sounds like the trip but it sounds more like a dream. I'll think about it!
  10. Maybe Candle can bring back their "dating room"?............ And it won't cost anything! A bad idea of Biblical porportion! There used to be a "dating room". It was up in the top right of the screen where FAQ's, CFL Chat, Gallery,.....etc. are located. No one can verify my claim. Don says he does'nt remember it. I guess the only one who could verify it is PJ. Oh well, it used to be here, (along with the Russians),.... I think you are right, Sammy. There was one for a very short time that P.J. put together. Tony might remember it? Yep. Tony might. That's what ran me off! The "Dating Room". I was in a big hurry searching out something to do with K3 when I came across Candle. It caught my eye and I did pause in my search to open it up but when I saw "Dating Room", I quickly thought it was just another Chinese match-making site and promptly left to continue on my K3 search. And as they say, the rest is history. I bet Candle wasn't up a week when I saw that.

  12. "Lin Daiyu burying fallen petals." A very profound scene out of Cao Xueqin's ²ÜÑ©ÇÛ 'Hung Lou Meng' ºìÂ¥ÃÎ where Lin Daiyu is saddened by her destiny and what is to become of her. She burys the flowers to realize her own and soon inevitable death. She is a tragic and most loving figure, Lin Dai Yu ÁÖ÷ìÓñ. http://i50.tinypic.com/minu6v.jpg

  16. We got our books on the same day. My qizi bribed them with candy!... What do you mean by saying "married" and then picking up the books? You mean you had a ceremonial wedding first?

  18. There was a news video on Yahoo yesterday showing a new dating service in Beijing offering the "perfect match" to Chinese citiens who could actually afford it, only $3 to make public your bio and photo, not $44,000!........

    Snow coming!

The ice storm snapped pine trees in half. I went to bed hearing the ice slamming into the house and then I heard a big breaking sound. I'm trying to figure out what it was when I heard another. At morning I could see what it was. The ice snapped several pines taking down power lines with it. It was a hell of a mess around home and the county today. Trees down everywhere! Ice storms are treacherous!

    Snow coming!

Back online finally! The power just came back on after being out for 25 hours and let me tell ya...that was a bone-chilling 25 hours! The snow storm turned into a ice storm which is even worse! There's nothing worse than living in the cold. It turned off about 7 pm last night and sleeping wasn't so bad due to the house still retaining some heat but all day today it was cold and I was told the power won't be on to tomorrow so I was dreading tonight! I wasn't looking forward to a freezing night without any heat when temps. are whipping around 12 degrees F!. All is a okay now, thank goodness. But nothing is fun about not having heat, lights, and TV at all! It's like living literally in the stone age.
