P3 – 6/19/2002 P4 – never received Interview 11/14/2002 Name check cleared – 1/6/2003 Close to 6 months on this one! Maybe 6 1/2 This is not from start to the end. p3 is in the middle of process, which is the first packet that Guangzhou sent to the K visa applicant in China. If this is my case, my time line is: 1st NOA: 1/25/2002 2nd NOA: 3/25/2002 Packet 3: 6/19/2002 Interview: 11/14/2002 Cleared: 1/6/2003 Hope that will help. Yes, before the 9/11 security processes, K1 process can be finished in 5 months. But haven't seen any one get it done in 6 months after the security processes kicked in. I think the reason no one wanted to touch this is because of the security issue involed. The policy change, new proceedure, computer imcompatability, different agencies not ready and the list goes on. It is, in fact, a different tone now. Fact: all systems should be in place to accually perform the function of a name check. Fact: names are running through the name check system. Fact: people waiting much less than 6 months, getting visa. Fact: DOS & CA has somewhat admitted there is a black hole group. Fact: Overtime has been mandated to fix the black hole problem. Fact: we are still somewhat in the black hole,(maybe not for long) Fact: within the next 2-4 weeks, we should see if there is a priority policy for the black hole bunch. Fact: If we dont see a few hundred (black hole) visas issued within the next few weeks, we are still in the black hole. Fact: I will not rest my cause untill the my fiancee is here. hehehehe Whole bunch of facts here.

Today I called to talk with the aid to senator John Edwards (presidential canadate) I gave him the whole layout of how things are now being processed in DC. I explained the black hole thing to him and let him know, at this point it is not a matter of security issue anymore, but a management or mismanagement issue now. I explained it is just not a priority for the black hole bunch. I also explained how others in this process for a visa is now waiting about 6 months from start to finish, but the black hole bunch has waited over 12 months and still just now getting some answers but still no visa. I expressed my feeling of total unfairness and disappointment with the lack of consern for the black hole bunch. He agreed this is not fair. I told him the only fair thing to do at this time was to get the list of black holers and hand walk them through. And if one certain agancy is the hold up, then phone calls needed to be made to get them to finish these first. No more unfairness is what I asked for, he agreed. Im looking forward to see where this goes.

I would like to keep this thread pinned just for the cleared group. Please only the cleared cases post here with time lines and submitted dates if you have. This will help all of us if we don't get cleared withing the next 2-4 weeks. A little ammo for the next letter or call to officials. After 30 days if the name check is not completed, the consulate should resubmit automaticly. It was 90 days. With the back logs that GZ has, they have not had time to perform this task. If you contact somone at CA, DOS, congress, or senator, they can request the resubmittal. Simply put, GZ is overwork and can't get to it. Stings need to be pulled from higher up. I was told that a list of August, Sept. and Oct. backlogs were compiled by CA and sent to GZ for resubmittal, also to DOS to be processed in some sort of priority. This would appear to be true due to the fact that, 3 from the black hole have cleared, and many form the black hole have been resubmitted this past weekend.

Yes, hence, the name check is still inadequate. The whole process and mind set is terribly flauded. The government has the best security assurance in the world for my fiancee, ME! What our goverment is saying when they want a name check for our wives and fiancee's is basic, they dont trust us, although they know everything about us, if not , they could. But yet, to this day, a business, tourist or education visa is allowed much quicker and eisier. Some one needs a calculator to do the math on this one?

We could try the GAO, and in the GAO report, it indicates the DOJ also had a hand in all the new policies.

It is unfortunate we have to deal with some people that dont want to work, refuse to work and makes everyone they deal with unhappy to work with them. Ahhhhhhh, live such as it is. Dont let her unhappieness ruin your life or happieness. Just remember, when we have our loved ones here, we will be very happy. But, she will still be very unhappy. It is her choice to me miserable, not ours. Keep the faith, next call might be better.

Im seeing a pattern folks! Don't want bring you down -- Nov 2nd resubmittion - not cleared today. I don't want to hold my breath, either -- be dead before I would see my daughter here! Charlotte I know, maybe this weekend will produce more. I did find out today, for sure, that even if your name cleared and was sent to GZ, untill GZ confirms the cable back to DOS the info team or the GZ computer will not show as cleared. So, in realality, your name could accually be cleared by DOS, but only DOS will know.

Congratulations!!!! This is great news and info! This is 7 weeks from the resubmittal date. If the system is faster, and more help is in place, well, Im no math wizard, but just maybe, shorter time to process.

This is truely a window of hope. My name check was resubmitted 12/17/2002, maybe just a few more weeks.
