Steve and Aiwen replied to Steve and Aiwen's topic in Consulate Process: P-3 ~ Interview
Yes, you should get your P3 in a couple of weeks, if things move along well....we received the P3 even though DOS was telling me that GUZ was waiting to receive the P3 back from Aiwen....oh, well, as long as it's happening, ha,ha.....I figure we are going to get a mid-September interview.....just 6 more weeks!!!! I am very optimistic we will get the pink!! Steve -

Hello All, I am just bursting to tell every one, that I checked the status of our case with the DOS today....and.....as of July 23, GUZ has completed the processing of our P3, and we are waiting for an interview date to be assigned....since GUZ hands out the next block of interview dates at the end of the month, I hope to know by the end of next week when our interview will be. WAAAHOOOO!!!! All of a sudden, it seems our case is rocketing along....GUZ received our P3 on July 7, so that's just 16 calender days to completion, ready for interview assignment. Hope our luck holds up, everyone cross your finger, toes, etc.... Steve

Thanks Jim. My concern was whether it took awhile to actually get into the waiting room. Sounds like it doesn't. Takes no time, really.....there was a long line of Chinese waiting to be admitted through security; as an American Citizen, you just walk past this line and enter the security area, state the reason for your visit(pre-screening for security on the lower floor before you get on the escalator leading up to the floor the Consulate is on...by the coffee shop), they take your phone, etc, you walk through the airport-type detector, and enter the waiting room....get a number....wait your turn....I waited about 30 minutes before my number was called, they give you a form to fill out when you get your number....you write your questions on the form, case number, etc.....but you are not limited to the questions on the form....the VO who waited on me looked up our case in the computer, made an entry showing I attended ACH, and answered all my questions without any rush...he was very open and friendly.....young American male...I did see a couple of older American women who seemed like "burnouts" to me...they seemed kinda brusque with the people I observed them servicing.... The VO I spoke with did tell me that the visit to ACH shows up at interview time..... Steve

Planning ahead...
Steve and Aiwen replied to Steve and Aiwen's topic in AOS & Immigration Challenges
Many thanks.... Steve -
Hey all, I am trying to plan ahead....our interview will be in a couple of months, I hope, and I'm trying to get ahead for AOS....we plan to marry about 2 weeks after her arrival here. What forms, and documents do I need to be getting together? Since I'm getting hit with the latest fee increase for AOS, the guy you see standing on the side of the road with a sign that says" Need help to pay Uncle Sam" might be me...lol...."Will work for immigration fees" ??? Nah.....be my luck the DHS cowboys would swoop in on me..... Steve

Thanks for the detailed report, it helps all of us who will be following you....congratulations to you both, your wife did a fine job "steering" the interview, I think.....you are a lucky guy!!! I am sure she will be "steering" you as well, to your benefit......I don't know about you, but I kinda like being "looked after" a little bit...(okay, a lot....I'm busted....)..... Steve

Congratulations to both of you!!! Steve

You can get the Chinese visa in about 5 business days with any of the many passport/visa services......where you live determines which Chinese consulate you need to use....there are lots of passport service companies that do this for you...I got my 1-year multi-entry Chinese visa in 5 days via express mail. As for airline tickets, you can book 3 weeks in advance to get the best price...if you have the normal 4 weeks from P4 to interview time, that's plenty of time to book the airline ticket(s)....you can get your SO's one-way ticket in China cheaper after you have the visa IN HAND....the most you will have to worry about is a change fee on your return ticket if needed, so you will both be on the same flight to the US. Use a Chinese travel agency here in the US to book for the best deal. Shoot, this is all the easy part....the hard part is just getting the darn visa, and the waiting....the daggone waiting....and waiting.....grmmpffff.... Steve

Congratulations, and thanks for the follow-up report.... Steve
