  1. CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! ! We hope everything goes well! Mike & Yizhen
  2. Good Luck Charles ! ! ! , Mike & Yizhen
  3. We actually filed the I-824 to have the CR-1 in China, 5 mos. before we received the K-3, we could have chosen to AOS in the USA, but we have chosen to follow through with the IR-1. We think that this will work to our benefit, we have worked together, and Yizhen has had more time to learn English. We will be even better prepared for the IR-1 than we were for the K-3. We appreciate everyones opinions and help. Because this is not a path well traveled, we have no specific information about the process we are undertaking. We will try to study as if we were going for an IR-1, keeping in mind that we already have the K-3. With your help, we will spot anything that is not normal for this process. We will be doubly cautious and doubly prepared. Thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  4. I am sorry the link didn't work before, I changed it and I think it works now. Mike
  5. We don't want to waste time defending our choice, but as far as we see it, USCIS is no better than GUZ as a option for processing, they are both equally dysfunctional. This is the path we chose from the very begining, we have had our problems with the USCIS, and it has taken much longer than we expected, but we will gain some benefit from the delay (10 yr. greencard). We are cautiously optimistic about our chances in GUZ. We have a good idea what to expect as far as processing in GUZ, we have been there for K-3, though there is not much data for our situation. Mike & Yizhen
  6. Jimi, here is a link to the newer easier shortcut at VJ, I got it from dnoblett. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut Mike & Yizhen
  7. It has nothing to do with the length of the process, we like GUZ we have spent several weeks there besides the interview, we thought it be good because we want to return to China to visit our family and we could do it while we were staying in GUZ. Mike & Yizhen
  8. Hello David, Dale, and others, we are not taking this lightly, we are talking about the immigration process? in GUZ? If by some chance we did not get approved, we could still return to the USA and file for AOS in the States? I was well coached here at CFL, and we got the K-3 in 8 months! With your help, we will do the same kind of preperation and get the same outcome. Our biggest problem is we don't have anyone who has done this before to give us any specific guidance, there is no historical data, no list of interview questions, we must be prepared for anything. We will not be taking this lightly! We want "PINK", Mike & Yizhen
  9. It became IR-1 10/28/2008! 12.5 mo. after I-824 approval and second I-130 approval. What about the proof of ongoing relationship?, Mike & Yizhen
  10. I was just pointing out that it was because of their delay, not our waiting to file after the 2 year wedding anniversary. Mike & Yizhen
  11. Since my wife has been here in the US since the K-3, will we need a police report for the 15 or so months in the US? and will we need to get a new police report from her city in China? What else can I expect that might be out of the ordinary? Will they require a lot of proof of ongoing relationship? We have family photos, mail, property tax bill, and medical bills paid by my insurance, anything else we might need? Will it be any different because we already have the K-3? I am a little nervous just begining again, thanks Mike & Yizhen
  12. Because of the delay, we will be getting an IR-1, (10 year green card). We try to look for the good things. We had good luck with the K-3, we are also expecting pink with the IR-1. I hope I can get back into following instructions to the "T", we want to try the shortcuts, but mistakes could make it take even longer. Thanks for your help in advance, I know we will need it! Mike & Yizhen
  13. Today after more than 1 year, the DHS Ombudsman's Customer Service rep. sent me an e-mail and called me to say that my I-130 was finally shipped to the NVC via DHL, today! She also said that because it has been 2 years since we filed the I-130 she asked that the NVC expedite our case, maybe/maybe not? We are hoping to get an interview soon enough so we can be in China for CNY and interview before we return to the USA. We are planning to stay about 2 months. Our problem now is I have forgotten what steps will come next. 1. DS-3032 (ready to be sent via e-mail) I need the e-mail address for this 2. bill for I-864 3. bill for IV fee 4. D-230/P3 and I-864 filled out and returned (these forms have been completed for more than 1 year) they will need to be updated 5. sent to GUZ 6. P4 Have we forgotten anything? Thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  14. Aren't we supposed to receive our stimulus money when we file our 2008 tax return?
  15. When Yizhen arrived here, I had no problem getting her signed up with my union health insurance, we went to the office right after work so she could sign in person. We did the union life insurance, annuity, and pension at the same time. Zhen received her coverage cards within one week. They did not even ask for the translated version, the insurance companies have seen these books and the are familiar with them, they just made a copy of the red book. (Blue Cross&Blue Shield) "Mountain out of a mole hill", rest easy! you will have no problems. If the US notarized translation makes you feel better, it is a simple and inexpensive to get a good nights rest. Mike&Zhen
  16. CONGRATULATIONS, ROGER AND FAMILY ! ! ! ! ! We have been watching and waiting during your long ride. We are so happy for you! Mike and Yizhen
  17. Hello Jim, CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! I am married to a wonderful woman from Liuzhou, also. We were married during my first visit to China, and we applied for a K-3 visa immediately. She got her visa in 8 months and is here with me now! We had hoped the CR-1/I-130 would continue processing and that it might even catch us at the interview, which happened to others in front of us. But the process was changed and our I-130 was held in the US for future AOS (adjustment of status). We have petitioned (I-824@$200) to have the I-130 sent to the NVC and continue processing, with little success so far, but we are hoping it will be slow enough that we can return to China for CNY 2009 with the added element of receiving a 10 year green card. I am glad Yizhen is here now, but we need to get EAD if Yizhen wants to work. I think I would choose to wait for the CR-1 if i had to do it again. Good luck with whichever path you choose, Mike and Yizhen! PS I am 10 years older, and her son is 22, he will not be able to come to the US soon, but he has a large family that is very close, many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmother and his father.
  18. Hello ! you can fly Asiana Air from O'hare for a reasonable fare during Chinese New Year, 1 stop(seoul), about 20 hours to Guangzhou(I paid $915 rt). You will only pass through customs 1 time(China) not (HK and China) easier. Great pilots and on time! You will have one leg of the flight about 15 /16 hours with any airline, from any US city. Welcome and good luck! If you get married in HK then you must get K-3 in HK or if you choose CR-1/IR-1. you will still go through GUZ. Mike & Zhen
  19. That is the answer we have been looking for! Thanks,Mike & Zhen
  20. CONGRATULATIONS! ! ! ! ! ! ! We hope everything moves quickly from now on, Mike & Zhen
  21. We are still looking for the e-mail address to send the DS-3032, we have spent hours looking, please help or point us in the right direction, thanks Mike & Zhen
  22. While we were in GUZ for the interview, and taking the Medical Exam, we told the doctor that we wanted to return for the CR-1/IR-1 and we wanted the vaccinations, he recommended that we get a Certificate of Health Exam Book, he said it would be good for the second interview. We tried to prepare for this, but we seem to be in uncharted water, we are looking for anything that we might have overlooked. We want to explore all possibilities, so we can choose the path that suits us best. Thanks, Mike & Zhen
  23. If we have this 6 mo. window, what other things will we need to prepare for? How long are the police report and medical exam good for? We have the yellow vaccination book. We don't want to overlook anything, while we still have control of the timing. Thanks for helping, Mike & Zhen
  24. So is it 3 mo. or 6 mo.? Can we use the CSC receipt # to e-mail the DS-3032 before we get the GUZ #? I called today and they have not issued the GUZ # yet. What is the e-mail address for the DS-3032? Thanks, Mike & Zhen
