  1. That is a welcome problem, especially now that we finally have a friend in the GZ consulate who I can contact and get an answer the same day. She has said that if it does not arrive to contact her personally, I am just assuming that means she will help us once again.
  2. Before they were not required to keep the names if there was no hit within 30 days, because no news meant good news. Now they have to wait until everything is finished down to the last little dot on the i and the cross on the t. So now the common name factor could very well have more detrimental effects on the namecheck than it did before. If you have to check everyone with the same name and there are 20,000,000 wouldn't you think it would take longer than someone else?? Just common sense.
  3. Daniel, OK! her appointment has been schedule for April 14, 2003 at 8:30 AM... Now: e-mail guangzhouiv@state.gov. 1. ask when xxxxx xxxx appointment will be scheduled. 2. ask what happens if she doesn't get the appointment letter in time for the appointment? IV is about five to seven days so e-mail them now.... Let me know... xxxx xxxxxx Office Management Specialist U.S. Consulate - Guangzhou Tel: (8620) 8121-8000 x xxxx Fax: (8620) 8121-8428 Email : xxxxxxxxxxxxx This e-mail is unclassified based on the definitions provided in E.O. 12958. This is the exact e-mail we received from a friend in GZ, according to her records they received the approved namecheck on March 19. So the interview is scheduled less than a month away. It looks we would have had the same problem some others have had recently (believe it or not) that the timeline is too fast at the end. We will not have it because we were warned by some of you who it really was a problem for.
  4. Whoever moved my post about trade in China to the Culture and Language forum, why did you do it. I did not ask to have it moved, and I might be wrong but it does not have much to do with either Culture or Language. I ask that it be moved back here for at least a couple more days esp. since this is where I posted it to begin with.
  5. I think everything I have read so far about that is you have to do it in the 90 day window before the two year anniversary.
  6. Whoever moved this please give it one more day in the original forum. I did not ask for it to be moved and do not think it is a topic of language or culture anyway.
  7. OEM printer cartriges... You'll make a killing... ??????
  8. P.S. we are not afraid to move back to China if it helps financially. In fact we are trying to think of ways to make enough money to retire at 50 over here.
  9. We are seriously trying to think of ways to get into some kind of business between America and China. If someone has any ideas we would appreciate it if you threw them our way.
  10. I have heard from people here about all the shopping that their girls have been doing. My question is where to find the best deals and areas in GZ. I have been there a couple of times but never shopped too much. Any info would help us, so my wife can spend more of that money here instead of the states.
  11. They might not be open to the public today on Friday, but I just got an e-mail from a nice lady telling me that our case was finally over. We should be getting P4 real soon now, hopefully.
  12. Hi Daniel, We received the visa clearance on 3/19/03. This will review and finalize her file, then they will schedule her interview appointment. XXXXXX XXXXXXXXX Office Management Specialist U.S. Consulate - Guangzhou If the above is true we will be home in time for all the fireworks American style.
  13. I know who you are Dave sorry about that, but Eric called me Dave a few minutes ago, I forgave him because I was sure he was still drowsy from all that hard work. And yes Mick I don't feel too bad, I have seen the 1001 times he has called you Mike.
  14. Remember it was only in the last few months that they were required to keep the name if it had no hit in the first 30 days. They have been changhing so much so fast even they don't know what is happening. I wouldn't be surprised at any new development that had no reasonable explanation. How many times have you seen reason in what they do anyway?
  15. Who the heck is Dave, it looks like someone spent too much time under the covers these last few days, although no blame will be given from me for that.
  16. Here in Changsha everything is the same, and this has been known as the hotbed for change in China for the last few decades. Example Mao in 1949, he started here and so did a few others. Anyway during the whole time the Chinese people have noto agreed with the war, but if you are not stupid and go through the s treets yelling good thing about America and bad things about China noone is gonna bother you. Government has too much to lose right now.
  17. Maybe that was the problem the whole time, my drivers liscense from when I was 21. I had a full beard and all my students over here say right off that the picture looks like Bin Laden. So 3 months in Europe growing a beard is what has been holding us up so long, I guess I shouldn't have been in France those 5 times.
  18. As a bunch of you should know I have been in China throughout this whole process so I have had to have family members call the correct agencies in the states. Well to make a long story short my grandmother told me by e-mail this morning that Diana's name had finally been taken off hold. I am not sure what that means, but it is giving us a feeling of hope, at least a little bit. On a side note when I called GZ this week and actually talked to an American lady she told me the name was not on hold at all, but in actuality there was a hit on the name. Not sure what the difference is, maybe it is because my wifes family name is one of the top 3 most popular names in China.
  19. Where is Myles when you need him. Seriously since Hawaii is a U.S. State as long as they have an international airport there shouldn't be a problem should there?
  20. My wife has a family visa and got a number immediately. That is standard procedure according to GZ, family like wife and children of American citizens do not have to wait like others do supposedly. I think my question should have been clear enough, but here it is again just in case, with something else added to it also: did the husband start the petition, and on what date did he start the filing procedure? If it was the husband, who is an American citizen, then the wife does not have to wait for a visa number, at least that is my understanding. If I am wrong please correct me, because in this crazy process I have been wrong before, that is one thing I am really sure of.
  21. Yan when did your sisters fiance/husband start the petition. Did he do it 12 years ago or do it last year. If it was not 12 years ago then she has not been waiting 12 years because of GZ.
  22. It's good to hear of so many people getting their visas. Now maybe some of us who have been waiting for their interview since this time last year, will get a chance to go get theirs too. I am happy all of you are able to be together again, if Diana and I were not together throughout all of this, I do not know what insane asylum I would be in, but I would be in one for sure somewhere. We are luckier than most of you who have had to wait for so long apart. Now if I can just get her to the states to meet all her new family over there.
  23. We are CR-1, so our packets might be different also, but we received everything in P3, including medical papers. The only thing we are waiting for right now is the paper telling us when to go to the interview.
