  1. dale 7570, I was in the same boat a few years back. At her original interview the VO asked LiWen why I made such a small amount of money. Adjusted gross was $3,572 on the 1040. If you send a copy of your 2007 tax stuff for her to take make sure you put the Schedule C on top of the 1040 so he sees that first. After we filed for the K-1 I went out and got a "real" job just so there wouldn't be any questions about support. Now that she is here I'm gearing back up on my own again. You have to love the deductions ya get self-employed but it gets dicey when you are trying to prove things sometimes. Bottom line is don't fret it. If it worked out for us it should work out for you.
  2. Thanks guys. Now since I've been doing a little reading of past posts what's the thought of going the I-864EZ versus I-864?
  3. The wife says, You fasta fasta green card. Now I'm stuck on question #16. Three sets of parenthesis's there and seems like I should be putting in C 9? If that is right do they go in one set? I know someone out there will steer me right.
  4. Right on Randy. Maybe get a letter from your bank saying you've been a long time client with funds on deposit. The I-134 thing is easier to handle then the I-864, yes?
  5. The good old days are a thing of the past. No more cheap gas because the rest of the world has TV and sees how we live and demands the same standard of living. No matter that what they see isn't how most of us really live. 20 years ago I worked as a field tech doing efficiency testing on coal fired boilers all over the country. The Feds had just started doing NOX testing at power plants. It was cheaper to have the company I worked for be there "testing" than pay for the equipment to clean up the emissions. The Dutch were in the forefront with the technology at the time and Europe as a whole still is. The US is sitting on vast coal reserves but no one wants to build high tech plants to burn it clean because of the upfront cost. Cheaper to pay the fines and pollute. Trade pollution credits? Same with oil refineries, patch up the old ones cause no one wants a new one built next door. BP bought AMOCO and the first thing they did was cut back on safety and maintenance in Texas to boost profits. Explosion took it off line and they got to raise the price because they was a shortage of suprise, gasoline. Call me a treehugger [well maybe I do if I walk a little wobbly once in a while ] but seems stupid to me. Add another what 3 billion cars in Asia and a few hundred power plants...
  6. Good call, Lee. False positive on skin test and negative on X-ray. Still prescribed 90 days worth of meds with a liver test after 30 days. Don't care, follow Doc's advice.
  7. Turtle? I didn't have to go to China for that. Grew up eating snapping turtle here 1st time over there did the family meet and greet in Beijing and they had their fun ordering stuff for shock value to see how I handled it. Joke was on them! I put on weight. 2nd time in GUZ I had the worse meal while waiting to pick up Li's medical packet. Took a walk and ate at a small joint by the tennis club on the river. Had eel balls and they were bad balls
  8. Congrats on upcoming marriage. As to what is expected, it's as varied as women. If you can figure that out make sure you post and let the rest of us know
  9. dnoblett, what does it mean when wife asks you nicely to not speak Chinese because it hurts her ears? I'll listen and learn I think.
  10. Try using common sense, and see where it gets you!!? They are protecting their little turf.
  11. DOS, DHS and USCIS. All different yet the same. If they don't know the rules lets just ad lib. To often folks give up. Until that woman gets direction from higher up thats the way it is, her way. I hope to hear what happens about this. Maybe try to get the press involved?
  12. Right you are, tsap seui! If it isn't written policy, just the way the system is set up has the same effect. Everyone in China through GUZ? Lets make sure to under staff and underfund. Now of course add in the extra layer of "Homeland Security". What PR guy grabbed that tag-line? Instead of doing something like maybe increasing funding to the existing agencies throw 4 or 5 together under a new uberlord. DHS and DOS don't talk to each other but we can pickup the phone and talk to China? What does the new top guy do? Tell them to play nice? Sorry, got on that horse again.
  13. chilton 747, I'm pretty sure that they don't want to spend manpower on a trivial issue like keeping stats How many employees in each location? Average time spent on each case? Like polls how you ask questions can prove or disprove arguments. To the original post, a VO might not like no common language but that in itself isn't a reason to deny. To often that might be a reason listed but it is just a handy out IMHO.
  14. I would guess it would be better to err on the side of caution. Have the three years worth handy in the kitchen sink. Ready in case VO asks. Plus it gets you organized for later in the game, update annually at tax time and it will be handy when it comes time for the I-864.
  15. Li and I went the K1 route ourselves. At the time it seemed to offer the fastest way for her to get here. At the same time I wanted her to be able to see Americe first-hand so that she could make up her mind if she wanted to move here and start our lives as one. The streets aren't paved in gold here. Plus as chilton 747 points out it does seem as if you have fall-back options in case of denial.
  16. NY-Viking, Thank goodness I was born here. You are right, I could never pass exam. Praise spell check cus no one would be able to figure my stuff out. No sarcasm from my end, please keep me honest. Grammar and fact check next tsap seui, I can never imagine the wringer you are going through. Unnecessary, unacceptable_ _ _ without being deleted you get my drift. After HS in the mid 70's, draw down. Never served myself. I bow in your direction for your service. For them to treat you basically worse than ... Oh that's right, classless society. They are yanking the chain, do not give them the satisfaction. When all is said and done my money is on you to beat the chumps at their game on their court and their rules. I for one would hate to se you have to go, but you da man.
  17. tsap seui, Sorry if I came across the wrong way. I agree 100% with you. My sarcasm is only for the pinheads you know where[just two hints-not on CFL and they are on the fifth floor of a building]. The only problem I have is playing the game and not knowing the rules. The darn penalties [time lost] seem so silly
  18. Chip away slowly people will not notice. Death of a thousand cuts. tsap seui, just because you get rejected by GUZ doesn't mean You have lost any rights as a citizen. Oh wait, unless you are referring to that one line in I believe the Preamble that says something about Pursuit of Happiness?
  19. Good point about them "giving" us rebates. Of course then we will have to turn around and pay tax on it next year. Kind of like the "free checks" you get in the mail from the credit card companies.
  20. I knew someone would mistake what I meant. I do not throw my trash out the window[butts] nor do I force anyone to smoke second hand. I am as considerate as can be. Empathy works both ways. Who would have thought this issue would be polarizing as politics and religion.
  21. I smoke. It isn't good for you. I drink. It isn't good for you. Just a thought, after I buy a legal and taxed product [and highly taxed] isn't it my choice? Okay, before I get crucified I am not saying I want to come to your house to do it. I don't light up at the restaurant, but drinks are alright? Whats next, Prohibition again? Transfats. Ban them. Where does it stop, it never does. How about a poll on the next flavor of the week. Drew Careys bit on cheeseburgers hit it on the head. Thanks for taking away my last bit of pleasure.
  22. I couldn't agree more with shyaushu. Well put! Somewhere in the copy of the revocation letter GUZ sent to DHS they said "while the VO can not look into someones heart for intent" then they go ahead and do just that! Got me madder than heck. But that was just turned into ammo against them in my letter to the DHS for overcome. Good point on the drivers license, I used that at the congressmans office when I was dealing with his aide.
  23. Right on Bro. Chilton! Preach to the choir. No rhyme or reason.
  24. I'm suprised no one has said anything about contesting the charge. Something is funny here. Unless you are the former Guv. of N.Y., $300 is something most of us would remember spending.
