  1. I'm really surprised you'd have to ask Dave. BOTH if you're smart and don't want to be "mop-slapped". If you had to choose one? Chose the Chinese date, after all she's Chinese and in China. I don't know how long they've been celebrating "Qi Xi Festival" but celebrating western Valentine's day (2/14) is a rather new phenomenon, mostly for the young crowd who likes to embrace many things Western. Older Chinese folks do absolutely nothing special on 2/14. What was I thinking?
  2. Rollerskating? In Shanghai? Holy Crap! Not in the streets I was on.
  3. I think our own "Valentine's Day" is based on some shaky legend as well. So who's to say which is more real? Probably best to do as Lee suggests and celebrate both. Never hurts to practice a little CYA no?
  4. I just got a message from Annieflower reminding me that Chinese Valentine's Day is August 19. How does everyone deal with this. Do you send something for this one or for ours in February or both? Just curious.
  5. 5 months from mailing to interview! I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous.I am not jealous. Congrats.
  6. If you go to that link and click on CFL FORMS LOCATOR I think you'll find forms for both. If not, David will correct me.
  7. Congrats Carlos! Check here for copies of the forms: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19303 It's under Links and Resources. Good luck.
  8. Have to admit, that lukewarm beer wasn't bad, David. Damn Dennis a hot one will work too in a pinch I knew a guy where I grew up who kept warm Schlitz under the seat of his car. And yes, he drank it that way. Yuk!
  9. The instruction sheet is the key. It is not contradictory. Don is never contradictory !! If they allow a by mail response, it will be indicated as such, on the instruction sheet. If not, then like most here in your situation have done, you must utilize the phone pay line, and be patient to obtain an appointment date for the overcome submission of required documents/proof by your SO. Good luck to you !! I think everyone may be right here but not seeing the confusion pb is having. I think he may be confused as to who physically makes the actual phonecall, him or his SO. I could be wrong though.
  10. Sorry to hear of this pb. As usual, Lee has given you great advice. As Lee said, the more info you provide here, the more help members will be able to give you. Whatever the reason for your denial, someone here has almost certainly had it before. If you can find out from your wife the exact details on the blue slip, others here will be more than happy to help you try to overcome them. Good luck.
  11. Great write-up. Thanks. It's definately helpful. I plan on being in GUZ for the interview so wasn't going to notarize my passport. Now I will. Congrats again.

  15. Try them now, sometimes the BBS software gets confused by bullets and links. That did it. Thanks.
  16. Dan, for some reason I can't get your links to work. Maybe others can.
  17. You both need to write and sign separate letters of intent. Check out this link for sample letters. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=examples Good luck.
  18. That's 2 reminbi, my friend.... THAT puts a different spin on this story, doesn't it? I once sat in a KTV Bar for an HOUR waiting for Lao Po's best friend while she hammered the manager over a 20 rmb discrepancy in the bill. It was at the end of a birthday party. Happy frickin' Birthday... but, you DO have to love them. Well, 20rmb, now THAT'S worth fighting for.
  19. 13 cents! Outrageous! Geez, youd've thought they lost his pants or something.
