  1. Sorry but that sounds a bit unprofessional to me.
  2. Thanks Jim. So do you think we can go to another office and say we haven't received the initial card and would like another one but with a different name? Or are we stuck with the original office and the original name? I think that changing to a married name is one of the "free" duplicates you can order. Even if we haven't technically gotten the first one yet?
  3. I say more "power" to 'em. I imagine the costs of such an endeavour would be very high. If they can pull it off, maybe we can too.

  5. We filed for a SSN on Nov.1 and still haven't gotten it. My wife is a little anxious and a little pissed. She didn't like the looks of the lady who took our application and thinks she may have misplaced it on purpose. Anyway, she wants to go back to the office this week and ask them why we haven't received it yet. Being the obedient hubby that I am, I told her we would despite the fact that after 30 days we can just go and apply for another one anyway. I would rather just wait because we ended up applying for the first one in her Chinese name instead of her married name due to confusion on my part. So even if we get the original one, we'll be taking to get the name changed to her married name. I'm actually hoping we don't get it so we can avoid the confusion of a name change. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the SSA office will even be able to tell us anything about why we haven't gotten the card yet? Is it a waste of time? If we don't get it and go to a different office to re-apply in a different name than the first one, could that potentially cause a problem if the first card shows up in the meantime? I think I'm stuck going to the office to inquire about the first card unless someone here has personal knowledge that we definitely won't be able to get any specific information from them. But could we make things worse if we turn around Monday (after 30 days) and re-apply in a different name?
  6. Good luck Ron and Li Ping! Sounds like you've both got all your little pink ducks in a row.
  7. Thanks Dan. I have the transcripts from 2004 and '05 left from the interview but since I had my accountant make extra copies of my 2006 1040/W2 when I had them done, I thought I would just use one of them. I should be ok just sending it in without the above forms then? Make a copy of the semi-1099 and attach it, though the amount reported on it is in-significant. Thanks. Will do.

  9. In checking the instructions for the I-864EZ one last time, I came across this: 'If you provide a photocopy of your tax return(s), you must include a copy of each and every FormW-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your return(s).' The only 1099 related forms I had in my return were a 1099G for my state tax refund and a letter from my life insurance company showing interest income of $12 that says "ISSUED IN LIEU OF A 1099 U.S. INFORMATION RETURN." Should I include copies of these as well?
  10. EAD #3? Geez. I'm obsessing over EAD #1. You mean I have two more of these to go through? Hey, at least yours are at no additional charge! Yeah, I got that goin for me.

  12. I just want to make sure before I send this stuff in. We DO NOT have to send original copies of her Birth Certificate and our certified Marriage Certificate correct?
  13. Looks like it's about the same distance from Beijing only instead of going slightly Northwest from Beijing, you go slightly Northeast. After reading more about it, I'd definately want to go there in a future trip, preferrably in the fall.
  14. Deleted my post as well. I think you could have made your point equally as forcefully by saying "I'm still educating them on how immoral some of our politicians are." Just seemed to be unnecessarily political to insert BC into the conversation. P.S. All those I listed with the exception of Foley were/are MARRIED.
  15. Thank you again. She was the beneficiary of the K-1 visa application, but she is applying for AOS herself. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.
  16. For the purpose of AOS/EAD/AP should I check "beneficiary" or "applicant" or both for my wife? It seems like she qualifies as both. Thanks
  17. Thanks Dan. As always an answer and an explanation.
  18. Are they available at any retail stores, or only on Ebay?
  19. I had those same questions Dave. G-28 Questions I left the "File No." blank. Thank you.
  20. In the instructions on who can use this it mentions the I-130 but not the I-129f. Can K-1s use the EZ form as well?
