Hey Michael. I'm at work or I'd send you a copy of mine. I'm sure by the time I get home tonight you'll have plenty of examples. Good luck with it.

How long does it take EAD to be approved?
IllinoisDave replied to kgkg's topic in AOS & Immigration Challenges
For us... 65 days from filing to approval. 48 days from NOA1 to approval. Your mileage may vary. Edit: Oops. I forgot a whole month there. I've revised my figures. Sorry. B) -
Lots of dumplings. Wow we had dumplings tonight also. We had dumplings last night Sorry to stomp on your post Dave No worries Ed, fellow Midwesterners can jump into my posts anytime. I am a little surprised by the responses though. I figured I'd get blasted for liking dumplings so much. (love 'em actually) Glad to hear I'm not the only dumpling fan. My wife laughs at me for wanting them so often. Back home, she says, they're considered a snack or appetizer at best, certainly not worthy of an actual meal. And she's from the dumpling capitol, Shanghai. I could eat 'em for every meal myself.

Congrats! Finally no more EADs.

Thanks Clayton. I'm sure you and Wen Li will continue your smooth road. It wouldn't surprise me if you were able to skip the interview as well. Good luck!

Thanks Mark. I think we had a few factors that added up to smoother sailing for us than for some. First, I think we just filed at the right time. We missed all the problems created by the mass filings last summer. Second, we just had a very simple case with no complicating issues. No divorces/kids,close in age,no CCP issue or other red flag items that can complicate a case. I think that we were just a very straightforward, boring case that NVC/DOS/USCIS/GUZ all looked at and said: "These people ain't gonna cause no problems, let 'em have it." But by far the most important factor that allowed us to sail through the process was Candle and all the incredibly supportive, unselfish and informative people here who helped along the way. Because of the folks here our paperwork was always in order every step of the way. We didn't lose one day because of filing/paperwork issues. And for that we only have CFL to thank. So, our thanks to all. And good luck to all those in a holding pattern over GUZ or about to enter it as well as those still waiting for various steps post-interview to be finished. I plan to do whatever I can to help those who helped us in our journey and will no doubt help in the future.

Thanks Jim and everyone else. If I remember right, our 129f was actually signed for on 2/25/07. So this was a nice anniversary of sorts.

DCF I-130 process questions
IllinoisDave replied to bmic's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
Welcome to Candle bmic. I'm not familiar with DCF as we were K1. But there are plenty here who will have answers to your questions. They'll be along shortly after they roll out of bed. Good luck. -
Christine gave me a little surprise when I got home from work tonight. She had the mail laid out on the table, this time separated instead of in one pile. She was giving me a kinda funny look as I glanced at the envelopes. Then I noticed one of them had that now-familiar blue lettering of the USCIS. Unlike the others, this one had been opened. She couldn't hold back the smile when I looked up at her. So I took the paper out of the envelope... WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA After seeing those sweet words,I didn't even need to read the rest. But I did anyway. I was a little surprised but not shocked. No interview. GC on the way in three weeks. No more dealing with the gov't for 21 months. Gotta love it! B) As always, thanks to everyone in our CFL family. There is NO WAY we're in this position this fast without all of you. Thank you from both of us. Dave and Christine

Great news! I think it's an excellent idea to start in a job like that. There's no pressure to have perfect English right off the bat. She'll be able to communicate with others in her language while also improving her English skills at her own pace and making money at the same time. Ya gotta love that. We're thinking of doing the same.

What some people will do to try and trick others. They should of at least got someone that could do a better job with the picture. on the other hand... I would really really like to take a ride on that train ! The views must be spectacular in that part of the country. True, but don't expect to see any antelope! CCTV9 just had a Travelogue segment about that train. There actually are antelope in some of the regions along the train's path.

DCF - I-130 approval, what next?
IllinoisDave replied to Sadie's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
You can fill out the P3 forms as soon as you receive them and send them back. No need to actually have all the listed documents in hand. You'll have plenty of time to gather them before the interview. -
They do in Houston (at least for the ASC on 290W). If you get there before the appt time, you wait outside until it's time. Same at Jacksonville. They won't let you in prior to 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Okay, I'll amend my post. If you have your biometrics done at the office in Aurora, Illinois, just off Route 59... go early.
-
Glad to hear it. Yeah, we got to our office a little early too and were called right in. I encourage everyone to go early. It doesn't seem like they stick to the appt. times too strickly.

Wedding prices soaring: to be or not to be married?
IllinoisDave replied to shaffej7070's topic in The Middle Kingdom - 中国
I gotta believe the gov't will try do something about this at some point. Housing subsidies for newlyweds maybe? Outright payments? Or could they somehow make it more difficult for women to marry "outsiders" like us? Just throwing stuff out there. -
Sorry to hear about the blue. But like you said, not a real surprise given the circumstances. Give what they ask for and you should be ok. Best of luck with the overcome.

To file or not to file before second trip?
IllinoisDave replied to jhammer's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
This is exactly our experience. I filed after the first trip and we had no problems. Go for it! -
