  1. Well, no such luck... today's call was just as depressing as all the rest "call back next Monday..." and when I started asking too many questions about the amount of time it was taking and what recourse do I have...? "Sir, sometimes it takes 3 months... call back Monday or you can wait another month and call" haha She really is very nice, she knows my case the second I state my wife's name (she's had the bad luck of answering 5 of my calls out of 7), so I am not complaining about her or any other person working for DOS, but rather the process itself and the amount of time it takes to receive packets from NVC. USCIS is starting to seem like a pleasant experience in retrospect! Sorry to hear you had no Luck again... I haven't called yet probably do it tomorrow and of course based on what you were told I am not holding out much hope - In recent history the timeline for logging in the receipt of mailed packages to GUZ has seemed relatively quick (2 - 3 weeks) so I am surprised by this recent development
  2. In the same boat as Stephen - hoping my next call to DOS I receive the good news that GUZ has received the package and logged it in. I have noticed that many cases have the good fortune of only sitting in customs a couple of weeks and then there are those of us who wait for some time. I have also been hearing some rumors about some delays in the mailing process with DHL and NVC but not really sure. I do strongly suggest that you call DOS to find out the status of the case.
  3. I prepared my own P3 supplemental OF-167 using a word document - Nobody has complained thus far and we also used the fillable PDF DS-230 (you just have to wait for the DS-230 to come in the mail before sending it in as there is a separate barcode sheet that needs to be returned with the DS-230. If you want a copy of the word document send me a message and I will email it to you.
  4. My wife just told me that the chinese address she provided for all the visa forms was not complete. The K3 package is at GUZ, but she has not received P3 packet yet. The CR-1 and CR-2 packets were just mailed to GUZ by NVC. The english address is correct (everything I have ever mailed to her has been received) so is the chinese address being incorrect a big problem? Can I email GUZ to give them the correct address?
  5. Sounds like the process is moving along well for you - I hear that filing thorugh HK is quicker
  6. Ditto SirLancelot absolutely not needed and would be impossible to get - also not needed for K-3 only needed for K-1.
  7. Yeah I am not interested in tracking DHL - I was just going to wait 30 to 40 days and then call - just wasn't sure who to call and if they had automated response system for status like NVC has - so it sounds like I will need to cal DOS at the 202-663-1225 number during regualr business hours and ask for status? Maybe around October 8th. you've got a logical and laid back plan I agree with... Call the DOS... even next week... talk to a real person. You should get P3 in about a month later .. return ASAP... Thanks for the help - For me the laid back approach is the only way - micro-managing the process would only serve to stress me out
  8. 9. Prepare the DS-230 part I for your SO - she needs to sign it, but they will accept a scanned/printed copy of it with her signature. So get the pdf fillable form, complete Part I and print, scan into computer and email to wife in China, have her print it, sign it and re-scan it and email back to you (You can also do this with a fax, but the quality is much worse). Then you will have it ready to go when they mail you the Immigrant Visa application (DS-230 part I). You have to wait until you receive the P3 package because there is a barcode sheet you need to return with application. GOOD LUCK - In these K3/CR1 cases timing is the key

  11. My K3 was mailed from NVC to GUZ on 8/29/06. Is there a number I can call for automated response regarding receipt of application in GUZ or do I have to use the pay service at the call center? How long does it usually take for K3 to go through customs and be logged in at GUZ?
  12. If your K3 package was sent from NVC to GUZ on 9/12/06 - you are still looking at January or February for an interview date. P3 package will probably arrive at SO's middle of Oct. send it back and then the name check and P4 letter probably in late Nov or early Dec. with late January interview date. This still gives you some time to complete the CR-1 process - You could probably have it on its way to GUZ by the end of Nov. if you are diligent.
  13. I fully believe you. The younger generation currently is in a mode to fully embrace all things western. All photo shops doing wedding photos all have western white wedding dresses. So I understand what you're saying. The authentic Chinese color for wedding/marriage is red, but certainly white is in vogue now a days. No argument there. My wife and I were married in Zhanjiang China on 1/1/9/06 - for wedding photos she had many different dresses, 2 were red, one was a western style white dress and another was a blue traditional chinese dress. For the wedding party/dinner she wore a traditional red chinese dress. I have also attended 3 weddings in my wife's hometown of Zhanjiang and all the brides wore red - but I suppose it just all depends on the bride, family and how westernized the city is. I personally liked the red as we are hoping for pink slip. It took a while for me to get used to the idea that a pink slip is good as opposed to getting laid off at work with a pink slip
  14. There is still a good chance that the CR-1 will get to GUZ before the interview, if this happens they will convert the K-3 interview to a CR-1 with out changing the interview date. Of course this is dependant upon you completing the P3 packet for the CR-1 and paying all the fees ASAP. Eventually you will need to complete the I-130 process even if your SO gets to the US via a K-3, you just have to file for an adjustment of status and that whole proccess in the US. I am pretty sure you can't cancel the I-130 (CR-1), but you may be able to delay paying some of the fees.

  16. My wife is currently a student learning English. When I completed the forms whenever it asked for current occupation or employment I answered "Student at English School". Thus far there have been no problems with that answer.
  17. Same thing for me - I received the DS-230 part I packet for my wife CR-1 and daughter CR-2 exact dates as you August 14th and then received the checklist packet listing the DS-230 part I as missing for both again dated the same as yours - August 19. I have called NVC and also have received some responses at VJ about this - It is no problem - they are just sending out checklists to show where you are in the process. You don't need to reply to the checklist letter - just send in the DS-230 Part I packet as planned if you haven't already. Again this letter is simply to let you know what NVC is waiting for before proceeding with approval and forwarding to GUZ.
  18. I was approved 8/8/06 and on 8/23/06 my case was sent to GUZ. I got 2 IMBRA RFE's, returned them both and never received an email acknowledging receipt and my status continued to reflect the first RFE sent on 7/1/06 until they approved on 8/8/06. They don't seem to put much energy into keeping the status updated or to sending prompt emails.
  19. I received NOA2 for K3 with a notice date of 8/8/06. On 8/25/06 Received a letter dated 8/23/06 from NVC indicating that the visa was approved and that the petiton is being forwarded to GUZ. I had previously sent an email inquiry to NVC asking for status of my K3 petition to which they replied in 2 days that it had been received and was in process. In the reply they indicated the GUZ case number assigned.
  20. I also agree with Lee and Carl's advise - Get a Lawyer now - don't wait, don't hedge - just do it! You really need to keep it in GUZ. I am so sorry for you & your SO's difficulties and truly hope that this is just a bump in the road on your life's journey together.
  21. I thought I would call NVC to clarify and I ended up more confussed than ever - After much research and help form many members here at CFL I was able to see that I needed to provide a separate I-864 for my wife (CR-1) and stepdaughter (CR-2). Since NVC had requested a new I-864 for my stepdaughter based on the fact that I had included her on my wife's as an accompanying child I would think that my wife's I-864 is incorrect as well. Ahhh not so says Sara at NVC, she indicated on several occassions that my wife's I-864 has been reviewed and everything is ready to go once they receive the DS-230 part I (mailed this morning). I just don't understand how a photocopy of my wife's I-864 was rejected for containing an accompanying child, but the original was accepted . I have already prepared a new I-864 for my wife and was hoping to be able to send it to NVC, but Sara would not give me a answer when I asked if I could send in a new one - she just kept saying "it has already been reviewed and accepted..." Any ideas or suggestions ... I really don't want to have to resolve this after getting a blue slip in GUZ
  22. Really Great News - Congratulations! August has been a banner month for pink
