  1. Hello GUZ, The GIV-24 in the beneficiary's P4 interview packet contains a section that requests family composition data for their spouse or fiance (according to the copy here on CFL, dated 03/96). This section is titled: I have a four-part question about this section. If the beneficiary is a K1 Fiancee visa applicant, do they enter all of their fiance's (the US citizen petitioner) family data into this section? The form seems to suggest not since all the names are requested in Chinese characters or Pinyin. If the answer is yes (write USC fiance's family data into section #7 of GIV-24), and the USC has one or more adopted parents, should the beneficiary list ALL the USC's parents, both from birth and from adoptions? Or just the current legal parents? If the answer is yes (write birth parents AND adopted parents), which parents should go in the predesignated "Mother" and "Father" lines, and how should the remaining parent entries be labeled? If there were multiple adoptions, and a previous adoption was superceded by a current adoption, do any of the ex-step-parent's other children count as siblings of the USC, even if the USC doesn't even know their names? Thanks, neveroddoreven
  2. SO FAST! P3 arrived at my SO's house today! And yet again, we get another screwup and luck out anyway. I had put down her *work* address for mailing destination on the original application, and confirmed that address with both NVC *and* DOS. Even just yesterday, DOS said they were mailing it to her work address. Guess what! The GUZ EMS'd it to her house instead. Luckily, EMS called her mobile phone during delivery, and she immediately called her neighbor to take delivery of the P3 for her. So it's waiting for her now at home! That was a really fast delivery, only four days.
  3. Are disability and Social Security checks cut from the same place? According to the SSA site, you can still get your checks anywhere in the world except for Cuba and North Korea. http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10137.html#what Edit: I take it back, they say the payments stop after six months.
  4. Hi all, The DOS said on the phone this morning that GUZ received the hard copy of our K1 fiancee petition on Thursday Dec 14th, and has sent out the P3 to my fiancee. Which I find hilarious, because I called on the 15th only to be told they hadn't received it yet Anyway, we're pleased as punch that things are finally moving along again.
  5. I hear that getting pictures with you and your honey all dolled up together in traditional Chinese clothes is often quite amusing to the US Visa Officers. You should try to do this, and you don't need to get the expensive all-day wedding photos for this-- I had five-minute costume opportunites at the Great Wall and a wax museum. My SO wouldn't go for it though, she thought it was stupid Maybe you'll have better luck. Anyway, something that is cute and will make them laugh, I hear that's the best way to get started on the right foot. Make sure it's on top of the photo pile.
  6. I've also written my representative and both of my senators. Feel free to plagiarize. (Now updated so you can copy the full links directly) Hello, In MONTH YEAR I applied for a K1 fiancee immigration visa for my fiancee, who is currently waiting in CITY, P.R.C. to rejoin me here in CITY, STATE. At the current processing pace I don't expect her to arrive safely in my arms until MONTH or MONTH YEAR. At present, my petition is approved and has been forwarded by the National Visa Center (aka NVC) in New Hampshire to the US Consulate in Guangzhou, China (aka GUZ). NVC sends the documents to the GUZ Consulate via DHL international airmail. It is possible to track shipments going from the NVC to all of the US consulates around the world via the DHL tracking website. According to the DHL tracking system, it seems that GUZ is the *only* consulate with a two to three month delay in receiving and processing the applications from NVC; most other consulates take a week at most. Listed below are four DHL tracking links for packages sent during early to late September from NVC to GUZ. The first link is a very small package that slipped right through to GUZ, while three heavier packages (typically containing visa applications) are still waiting to be delivered, up to two months, after being shipped. http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/eshipping/track.low.html?pageToInclude=RESULTS&type=fasttrack&AWB=9189308284&submit=Track http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/eshipping/track.low.html?pageToInclude=RESULTS&type=fasttrack&AWB=9173140885&submit=Track http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/eshipping/track.low.html?pageToInclude=RESULTS&type=fasttrack&AWB=9174541810&submit=Track http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/eshipping/track.low.html?pageToInclude=RESULTS&type=fasttrack&AWB=9190670672&submit=Track Why are these heavier application packages being selectively held up? I would like an official inquiry to find out what is causing the delays. An online comment by a GUZ consulate employee at the first link below insists that the holdup is due to a Chinese Customs issue. I don't believe this; I've shipped HOWMANY packages to China myself, and received HOWMANY packages of various size and content over the past HOWMANY years. In none of these cases did Chinese customs take longer than a few days to release the packages. The second link below demonstrates that this has been a chronic issue for the GUZ consulate. Please help me find out the cause of these unreasonable delays in my fiancee's visa process, so that they can begin to be addressed. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14580&st=0&p=175740entry175740 http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2821&st=0&p=28295entry28295 Kind Regards, YOUR NAME USCIS Case Receipt # ABC0000000000 National Visa Center Case # GUZ0000000000
  7. Thanks everybody, glad to hear we can fill out DS230 part I on the PC and print it out. I initially posted this in the GUZ Speaks subtopic, and it was automagically moved to this one instead without any comment as to why.
  8. Hello GUZ, Thanks for frequenting this forum. My fiancee and I want to type up her DS-230 form using the online fillable PDF form, and then print it out for use in the P3 return packet to GUZ. We're doing to to ensure legibility, and also so we can double-check it together online before she sends it off. Is this allowed, or must we write in black ink on the original DS-230 form sent to her in the P3 by GUZ? Will the form mailed to her have a barcode or something else that, if missing on the typed version she submits, will slow down GUZ in processing her returned forms? Also, are there any official online PDF versions of the OF-167 and OF-169 forms? All I can find are some really old scanned versions from 1991 that are hosted on this site, but none hosted by GUZ or USCIS. We'd like to ensure that we've prepared everything to satisfaction by the time the forms arrive, in other words, that there are no surprises in the up-to-date forms we receive from GUZ. Thanks, neveroddoreven p.s. if we must use black ink on original forms only, do we fill boxes with an "X" or a checkmark? The forms don't say
