Interesting. So you're suggesting that we can have any doctor/place inject the shots and then go to a CS to fill out the I693A form? Why was I under the impression that it must be a designated CS only who can do the physical and inject the immunization shots if in the USA? We have a family friend who is a doctor who would probably inject the shots at cost. My wife would be able to have this family friend doctor inject the shots and then go to a CS to fill out the form? Yes - let someone else verify what I'm saying, but I think he needs to fill in the Yellow Book. I know others have gotten the shots from other doctors, but I'm not sure of the mechanics of getting it on the I693A

It works for Californinians, too, but only if they come visit the civil surgeon here. I think the higher prices are if they require you to redo the physical exam. You don't need to, but you may have to be ready to go somewhere else. SHOW them the Vaccination Supplement (NOT the I693) and the I-485 instructions, and TELL them this is what you need. But I think you can do better than $150 for just the shots - shop around. Jim_julian keeps suggesting the community clinics for free.

You can pretty much much use what we paid for her son as an upper limit - it was around $150 at the civil surgeon who had transcribed Jiaying's yellow book for only $10

He turns 21 in October - it shouldn't be a problem getting an interview before then. Our K-2's took 5 months. The Child Status Protection Act, as I understand it, tells them to use the age at the time the I-130 was filed. K-2's don't file an I-130, so the USCIS says that ours wasn't protected.

But 16 + 5 1/2 = 21 1/2 ?? How old was he at the time the I-130 was filed?

Another question for the united ones

I live in a town with 3 Chinese markets, all of them sell food only. Besides if only she can read the labels how will I know if I'm being poisoned. Swallow, and say "XieXie, mitang" -

Passport & Medical Insurance for SO
Randy W replied to michaelt's topic in AOS & Immigration Challenges
One other thing your post title implies is getting passport for SO, again your SO needs to be a US Citizen to get a US passport, so 3 years form getting LPR, your SO can naturalize, and once a US Citizen can then apply for the US passport, the US passport will allow easy travel to countries that have Visa Waiver Program with the US, and wont need to apply for visas to visit those countries. So, does this mean that I CAN get her a passport to go to the Bahamas for late honeymoon after receiving advanced parole? I have also read somewhere that it may be best to wait until after filing for advanced parole and EAD (I think this is early work?) before acquiring ss #? Does this make sense to you? Thanks so much. US passports are available ONLY to US citizens. She may apply for citizenship 3 years after she gets her green card. She already HAS a Chinese passport, and MAY need a visa to be admitted to the Bahamas. She will need the Advanced Parole (AP) document to return to the US. For SS, there is no reason to wait, once you have documentation for her in her desired name (e.g., marriage license). If you wait longer than about 75 days after her arrival, then you MUST wait until she gets her EAD (Employment Authorization). -
An example of what you guys will be looking at for awhile - They are updated if it changes service centers, or when the green card is ordered - not much else.
-
You're learning the easy way - we just tossed them our second year's worth of EAD money.
-
Randy W: the I-551 stamp is an indication of a green-card, not EAD, from what I read the local USCIS offices wont even put a temp EAD stamp in the passport anymore. You're right that the I-551 is the green card (sorry about that). From the EAD application, I didn't read any further, but I assume you could take this application to an InfoPass appt. That's academic, anyway. You'll get it within the 90 days.
-
No, but if you don't get the EAD within 90 days of the date on the I-797C receipt, make an InfoPass appt. at your local USCIS office to get the I-551 stamp in his passport.

Yes. It was sent to a P.O. Box. All of their mail goes to a box. Someone goes to pick it up every day first thing in the morning and signs the receipts on the ones that require it then takes all the mail back to the office. At least that's how the rest of the country does it. Supposedly. It says it was signed for at 2:12am. So the .gov has a graveyard shift huh? But it only works on Wednesdays apparently. Oh well, not like I don't have lots of experience waiting for the .gov..... Yes - it is usually advisable to NOT request signature verification for this reason. Delivery confirmation works just fine for this part of the country.
-
If a signature was required, this can require a couple of extra days, since the recipient (at a P.O. box) is notified that they must sign.

The guy from VJ went to Washington to discuss the matter more directly - this response was from the 16th Congressional District in San Jose, California "Congresswoman Lofgren who is working on the House¡¯ version of the Comprehensive bill has asked us for short letters (say a paragraph) about our personal K-2 immigration situations that she can then enter as testimony with the Judiciary subcommittee"
-
I believe it's usually removed at the AOS interview, and is no longer needed.

You can buy a ring now, estimating the size (or take sizing rings with you on your next trip). Most jewelers will allow you to re-size it after she arrives in the states. What I did was to keep the ring here, and sent her a picture of the ring and a copy of the receipt for relationship evidence.

Jiaying got a lot of attention once when she used hers to go outside and wash her car in the rain (didn't need the hose that way). But other than that, no, she doesn't use it anymore.

Slow down, people. The question has to do with his son. Would his son need to co-sign since all assets (including the bank account) are in two names? Should he NOT include the letter from the bank, since it has both names on it, and this moght be a complicating factor? I guess the W-2's and tax returns should do it since it's enough and does not indicate any joint ownership.
