  1. It's as easy as handing the appt letter to the guard at the ASC (there's a box to check for a rescheduled appt). But like I responded to your email, maybe someone can respond about when your recycled appt would be.
  2. Just for future reference - it's relatively painless to reschedule the bio-metrics - just take the appointment letter to the ASC. They will mail you a new one with a new date.
  3. I think this was a very good write-up, Roger, especially when viewed as advice to someone preparing their petition. But I think the question here is what percentage of cases are effectively pre-determined before the interview? I don't think it can be as high as you are indicating ("most"). My guess would be closer to 20% (and only approvals) - that the final choice IS left to the VO, who at least goes through the motions of making a decision. As long as the interview goes as expected, then everything goes per what's in the file, but by and large nothing was actually pre-determined. But at the "most" level, I think we'd be seeing a lot more rubber stamp interviews, and a lot fewer that are reported as random. In any event, that's a layer that we can never hope to get more information on. That and the quality of information submitted by the applicant and beneficiary are factors we really don't know. And yes, you hand-carry the full I-129F package to the POE, which will be in the IO's hands when you go in for the AOS interview.
  4. 1. Don't send them any more money. 2. It's your choice whether to go for the AOS or CR-1. 3. You probably need to cancel the CR-1 to get your paperwork forwarded back to the US. 4. Send an email to GUZ if you want to cancel the interview. http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzhou/iv/email.html
  5. It's all over with! Congratulations!
  6. USCONGUZ has stated that the VO for a particular would not even SEE the file until right before the interview).
  7. They are flat-out lying to you. You need to report them to the state authorities. There is nothing wrong with her SS card. My wife has been working for over 2 years with the same notation on the card. The problem is with the employer, not the SS card, although they may be holding out to see the EAD card You will not be able to remove the notation until she gets her green card.

  12. Oh EK01, I didn't know you had a choice about post offices. Is it sent EMS, and will it arrive reasonably quickly ? Congratulations! ONLY within Guangdong
  13. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/update_lockbox_053008.pdf The post office box address is the same, but the private courier address changes. They will forward packages mailed to the old address for 90 days.
  14. It's either your entire visa petition which needs to be in your file with USCIS, or it's the chest x-rays, which no one wants.
  15. Advance Parole is someone who is otherwise ineligible, being allowed back in the country (parole is immigration-speak for being allowed in the country in this way). You request permission to re-enter, BEFORE you leave. K-1's are not eligible to re-enter the US, thus they must be paroled through this document It is also needed for green card holders who remain outside of the US for more than 1 year.
  16. My extra-firm mattress with no springs and a platform bed has done just fine.
  17. Yeah it's amazing what they can do when they actually do something. Congratulations.

  19. Good to have you back, David! Actually, it was good to have you over there, too, but Welcome Back both of you!
  20. Your SO is K-1. She may apply for SS between around 10 days after arrival in the US, and before the 76th day after her arrival in the US. OR . . . AFTER she gets her EAD or green card The SS card arrives within 10 days to 2 weeks. The JFK stamp may look pretty in the passport (to some employers), but does not affect anything immigration-wise. She is work authorized for 90 days (going through ANY Point of Entry), and once she has her EAD card, or her green card.
  21. >K-1's are eligible for SS between approximately 10 and 75 days of arrival. Do you mean 10-75 days after you hand in your AOS application? But 10 days!!! I would have never thought the gov't could be so efficient! AOS and SS are not related. You need employment authorization (or the green card) to get an SSN. K-1's are work authorized for 90 days after arrival. During this time they may apply for SS. However, since the USCIS and SS are on different computer systems, there is a little slack at either end. The EAD card is also good for applying for SS
  22. Not true - K-1's are eligible for SS between approximately 10 and 75 days of arrival. K-3's need to apply for (and get) EAD (with or without the AOS application) to be eligible for an SSH
