  1. Good Luck Buddy, Can't wait for Y'all to get home. Yanling has her license now and is ready for a road trip. She looks good in the old Dodge Ram
  2. First and foremost, Do not use the H&R block software to do your taxes if you are filling out Form 2555. After I was through I found 3 gross errors which would have cost me over 600$. I am not sure how good the other tax software is. You will have to use Form 1040 1. You will claim her income on Line 7. My wife only worked the first 6 months of 2008. I just used her monthly income and converted it to dollars using the average monthly conversion rate. I put this on a spreadsheet and have a copy for my records. Since there is no record of her salary I am treating it the same way I would treat tips. Unless her income is over ~85,000$, the amount is a moot point (as long as you are close). You will be deducting the same amount from the total income 2. fill out Form 2555EZ ¨C You can use form 2555, but it is a lot of unnecessary work if she made less than ~85,000$ 3. You will record the amount on line 21 as a negative number (unless she made over ~85,000$) and subtract it from the total income. 4. You will also have to make a statement to the IRS that your wife will be considered a resident alien when it comes to taxes for 2008. That is explained in Pub. 54.
  3. I am not sure My bride received her visa this morning!!! She will give a 30 day notice at work tomorrow. then go see her mother in Boaquanling for couple of weeks. She Has not seen her mother, but 1 time in 17 years. Date of arrival July 29.
  4. Visa is in the mail!!!!!!!!!
  5. Love to. No beer though, Whiskey? Oh, and what kind of weed?
  6. Oh EK01, I didn't know you had a choice about post offices. Is it sent EMS, and will it arrive reasonably quickly ? Congratulations! I didn't know that either. I was thinking that she would have to make another trip to guangzhou. Yes sent by EMS. Even checked on it today, but nothing. What is taking so long?
  7. More update My future bride went to have the medical about 2 weeks ago. While she was there she decided to pick up the package on the 9th, the day before the interview. No worries, until I find out that there is a holiday on the 9th. I told her on Thursday the 5th that I thought there was a holiday on the 9th. She told me, no everything is fine. Well Friday the 5th she called the doctor to make sure. UHOH! Holiday on Monday the 9th. I am not sure if she talked the doctor into having someone there or if it was scheduled to have someone there but the doctor told her that someone would be there so that she could pick up the package in the morning. She was planning to pick it up in the afternoon. My bride arrived at the consulate at 7 am. When the fellow with the bullhorn got there, he formed 2 lines, one for immigrant visas and another for Non-immigrant visas. She got in the wrong line. We had talked about this, Technically, this is an immigrant visa, but on the face it is a non-immigrant visa. To sum it up I am glad I was not the guy with the bullhorn. When she was called she gave the medical package to who I guess was the prescreener. He opened the package and found that there was only one copy of the I-156 and the I-157. He gave her blanks to fill out but she reached inside the kitchen sink and handed him the extra forms.
  8. Update. The VO also asked to see how much I make. She handed Him The I-134 but he handed it back and wanted to know about 2007, she told him how much I made and handed him the Tax transcript for 2007. I file as early as I can.
