  1. Who is not qualified? On what grounds? The blue slip should say it all. What does it say?
  2. Yes Dan - please realize that he does NOT have his green card - thus the information about AOS DOES apply - removal of conditions is not a concern - since, as you point out, there is no age barrier. Thr K-2 process should get everything done in a comfortable time frame.
  3. The age limit for a K-2 to file his AOS application is his 21st birthday. However, some USCIS offices interpret this (more restrictively) to mean that he must be under 21 at the time of the interview. Your wife's child is always your step-child. But if you marry before the child REACHES 18, then he would be considered your child for immigration purposes, and you could file an I-130 which would preserve his status.
  4. The Chinese phones are unlocked - I think that's the way to go with a US SIM card I think the Blackberry's also support Chinese input, if you can find any more detail on that - check the BlackBerry forums.
  5. . . . And we need 2 of these because ? I'm sure the Chinese moderators we have would be glad to turn it over.
  6. Parents are responsible for their children - the only question is whether they're willing to accept that responsility. Parents create little emperors/empresses - this is independent of any laws, whether eastern or western. It makes no difference - these parents do their damage.
  7. i don't see much point in e-filing this because you still need to mail in the supporting documents. it just gives the uscis more chance to screw up. someone correct me if i'm wrong. You are exactly right
  8. Don't think taxes - you are providing proof of income here. In your case, it sounds like it's simplest to provide the transcripts - these don't need either W-2's or the 1099's. The state taxes add no new information - they don't want these SS long as your income is sufficient, you are good to go If they send an RFE, simply provide the information requested. You can include an accounting statement if you feel that will better explain your financial situation
  9. Yes - you can get a replacement I-94 by filing an I-102 with your USCIS office, if jt's not in her passport.
  10. You just have yourself an absolutely wonderful interview !
  11. I think he meant "West End" boys.
  12. That can be complex in reverse, as well.. Jiaying wanted to know if she is my older sister, or my younger sister. To me, they're both just sisters and are younger than me.
  13. Clarify - by "English" name, are you referring to her given name, or your family (her married) name? SS may require that her SS name match her immigration name. Fill out the AOS application in her desired name, listing her passport name as an alias. Thr marriage license won' be invalidated by anything.
  14. Yes basically due to circumstances out of your control, it's a personal decision as to whether to be there or not. Trips to China are good (healthy to your visa chances), but short periods between trips is good also, Comfort levels are good. Use your best judgement.
  15. You could file an inquiry with the USCIS Ombudsman. Maybe the mods will split Thu off to a separate topic so it will get more of a response.
  16. This was the good part. The rest simply made me wonder if he realized the rest of us have been to China, also. I'll bugger off, too.
  17. Then she would need to apply for a visitor's visa as a Chinese citizen. You may need to change your travel plans.
  18. Nobody here (in this topic) is a resident of Canada - and no verbosity is called for. I believe this has been answered before. My guess is "Other", "airport transit"
  19. Thr fact that YOU don't have a job may hurt you, but the fact that your father is supporting your little adventure may help. Of course, there is no clear definition of what will pass and what won't.
  20. Assets are good - it sounds like you're covered there. Overkill is good also (money talks here). The value of the house is it's current appraised value, minus the amount owed. An accountant should be able to draw up a very pretty (and accurate) picture of your father's financial situation.
  21. Just think, Roger. Here on CFL, you can be "Anonymous" anytime you'd like.
  22. Yes and no - if you file your change of address forms in a timely manner AND they process these forms in a timely manner, no problem. With each move, however, the probability of a screw-up increases. It is STRONGLY recommended that you STAY PUT.
