Yes Dan - please realize that he does NOT have his green card - thus the information about AOS DOES apply - removal of conditions is not a concern - since, as you point out, there is no age barrier. Thr K-2 process should get everything done in a comfortable time frame.

The age limit for a K-2 to file his AOS application is his 21st birthday. However, some USCIS offices interpret this (more restrictively) to mean that he must be under 21 at the time of the interview. Your wife's child is always your step-child. But if you marry before the child REACHES 18, then he would be considered your child for immigration purposes, and you could file an I-130 which would preserve his status.

The Chinese phones are unlocked - I think that's the way to go with a US SIM card I think the Blackberry's also support Chinese input, if you can find any more detail on that - check the BlackBerry forums.

Don't think taxes - you are providing proof of income here. In your case, it sounds like it's simplest to provide the transcripts - these don't need either W-2's or the 1099's. The state taxes add no new information - they don't want these SS long as your income is sufficient, you are good to go If they send an RFE, simply provide the information requested. You can include an accounting statement if you feel that will better explain your financial situation

Yes - you can get a replacement I-94 by filing an I-102 with your USCIS office, if jt's not in her passport.

Clarify - by "English" name, are you referring to her given name, or your family (her married) name? SS may require that her SS name match her immigration name. Yes basically due to circumstances out of your control, it's a personal decision as to whether to be there or not. Trips to China are good (healthy to your visa chances), but short periods between trips is good also, Comfort levels are good. Use your best judgement.
