Mike, there is an addon to XP Professional called the Multi Language Interface(MUI). The catch is that is is only available with their Volume licensing program or when purchasing a New computer with the OEM version of Windows XP Pro. In other words you won't find it on the shelf. You can order this with a new computer from Dell, but you will need to talk to them directly and they will give you a hassle. I can lookup the Microsoft license info if you need it. The other way is if the company you work for has a Volume License Agreement there is a chance you could get it through them. I just loaded it here and it works great, all the default Windows icons and menus are in Chinese. There is also one for Office as well. This does not do much for programs you load unless they provide the multi langauge files, not many have this option.

Mike, another thought. With the additional delay in GZ and the K3 status with the odds of follow later being marked. You might want to contact King and see if there is a possible way for him to go to this "Interview" and be included explaining the custody change. I know this is reaching, but worth a shot. Mike, you need to check a couple of things to avoid the visa number waiting game. Is the child under the age of 21? YES Option 1 Was the son listed on your wife's DS-230?YES Call DOS have them look at the son's record on the case, the odds are he is flaged as "follow later", if so the process can jump ahead real fast. Not sure of the exact steps but you will need to get a DS-230 part 1 on him and collect the P3 documentation. There are others who can assist you as to the process, but as I understand you jump real close to the P3 stage. ( if not set to follow later a lawyer may be able to get this modified due to the change in custody) Option 2 If not on follow later status, you need to look at the following site, specifically at the section titled Who is Eligible to Be a Sponsor? http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/child.htm

They only accept overcome evidence Monday - Wednesday. Hopefully, Jim will get everything completed the day he arrives, with a visa on Friday. Only having 3 days a week to present overcome evidence is a bit strange.

not sure what you mean by having to wait for the friday ... overcome evidence can be submitted every day between 2-3pm.. and they have two days to decide (give you a response). Adam most of the information I have been able to find has been limited.to a few small books on business travel and a couple on tourist do's and don'ts. With this I have spent time searching the web trying to understand the customs and traditions, finding a few jewels out there. The major festivals are extremely important, I impressed her recently when I ask about the dragon boat festival. She told me this was a small festival that takes place in an afternoon and not heavily celebrated in her town. I expect her to arrive before the Autumn festival and trying to see if the local Chinese community has something planned. At the very least I will find a place for us to sit and watch the moon together that night.

Jim, The cash is a good idea, I dont think they take checks and in most of China they don't accept Visa or MasterCard. I'm still hoping for a last minute mailing of P4 that would put me in there during the same timeframe, figure my luck has got to be good in GZ atleast once.

While KC has it's share of crime and stupidity, our house is in a very quiet area of town where neighbors actually know each other's names and socialize.

Don't give up on this, I have had more calls with nice people than the ugly kind. I try to call when the first open at 8:30am EST, then when they get the number they usually tell me it will take a few minutes to retreive the case and I ask them why they haven't given the computer it's coffee. This usually gets a chuckle and the conversatition becomes much friendlier. I even had one lady tell me to hang in there and not to worry.

My email to GUZ about this was deferred to the pay for use line. Still don't know the date. acw Give the DOS a call, I seem to get a better quaility response.

I have found that when I put more than one question in an email to GZ, only one question was answered and it is debatable that the answer applied to any of the questions ask.

I'm not sure how much affect this would have on processing, I gather they have been increasing their staff in preparation for the move. I believe the move will probably have a bigger impact on us, possibly 1-2 months as they learn how to manage the new facility and they if what they predict is true things should start to pick up. If they are anything like US companies simple things like learning where the light switches and coffee machines will bring things to a crawl for a few days. Unless you need to include them to meet the minimum guidelines you might consider leaving this alone as it can only increase the amount of paperwork and possibly add a request for information to validate the value.

Advanced notice on the delay, now if we could get this kind of action on interview dates?
