  1. In China it is very common for a business owner to have rooms of 100 computers, or more. They are called "wanba" and cost about 3-5 yuan per hour. They are usually filled with students playing video games but you can easily access the Internet there. Avoid the Hotel business centers which cost 40-50 yuan for 15 minutes.
  2. Great news, congratulations. It's stories like these that make finding CFL so wonderful.
  3. You can find that data in "links and resources" on the main forums page. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index....2734466aa73d22f
  4. Well, David, I agree but it seems to me the way of the bluethongy requires each of us to do what we gotta do. In my case, I went to China for that month and didn't give a hoot what DHL did or didn't do.
  5. Yes, the news is great. What are the hoops you had to go thru? Who did you talk to? Tell all.
  6. Maybe a child with a mother from any country but China could get a hardship visa the first try.
  7. This has been discussed in other threads. You must hang with the sheep. The hens cannot peck them throught their thick skins.
  8. If you are using XP and Internet Explorer for a browser, go to the tool bar and click: View/Encoding/Chinese Simplified (GB2312). If Chinese Simplified isn't in the pick list, click on More to open a much larger pick list where you should find Chinese Simplified (GB2312). If it's not in 'big' list, you'll need to download the language support from Microsoft Update. If you are using a different operating system or browser, the commands may be a little different. Candle's default language is English, but supports unicode which includes chinese characters. The browser setting just needs to be set to recognize them and display them as Chinese characters rather than jibberish. Inputting Chinese is a whole different thing. Also, Chinese Simplified (HK) will not properly display. could you write it in Chinese if you know? I also want to know how to do it...But I don't understand all what you said.
  11. ai ya- you have too much time on your hands........
  12. Last time I left China my mother-in-law, (ha! don't hear that much here!), gave me a 3 pound sticky rice thing wrapped in banana leaf to bring to America. She said it would last at least 3 weeks unrefrigerated. I graciously left it behind.
  13. I agree don't worry- that's also the only choice I have. I could not (in my non-GUZ, non-fraud trained brain) imagine that in the day of Internet, hand written was considered more important. Today I was reading OF-171, K-1 Appointment Packet No 16 posted here: http://home.comcast.net/~donahso/P4/OF-171.pdf Not only does OF-171 recommend handwritten letters, it recommends they be dated prior to the application date. I guess that is nonsense. Note: I was reading it here, but is not part of my SO's P-4 packet.
  14. The I-129 went from USC to NVC-CSC to DOS to DHL to limbo to GUZ and VO. VO asks SO "what you got." SO saw CFL. The two will correlate. bingo- some colored paper.
  15. I also was not planning on going to the Interview until............she said "please meet me there." And, I want to be nearby to see her face after the VO says the magic words that he saw what he wanted to see.
  16. On the other hand, I Googled my own name and came up blank. Internet results are interesting but not necessarily reliable.
  17. Yeah, it sounds like GUZ +30 - 0 days but hey It's better thann lost at NVC!
  18. So many conflicts. My mother's 87th birthday and her 65th wedding anniversary is June 17. But, "they" moved the celebration to July 1 to see Fireworks in N. Calif. I had already told her sorry, the interview has higher priority. and, then, bingo- DOS told me the Interview date.
  19. My condolonces on your loss. Walk the line between the two- listen to what you know your Uncle would say and listen to her then you won't go wrong. She's right- get some rest.
  20. another example: Nonresidents/First-Time Immigrants Duty Exemptions for Household and Personnel Effects You may import furniture, dishes, linens, libraries, artwork and similar household furnishings for your personal use free of duty. To be eligible for duty-free exemption, the articles must have either been available for your use or used in a household where you were a resident for one year.
  21. an example: Money There is no limitation in terms of total amount of monetary instruments that may be brought into or taken out of the United States. Monetary instruments include U.S. or foreign coins, currency, traveler's checks, money orders, and negotiable instruments or investment securities in bearer form. If you do transport, or cause to be transported, by mail or other means, more than $10,000 in monetary instruments on any occasion into or out of the United States, or if you receive more than that amount, you must file a report (Customs Form 4790) with U.S. Customs (Currency & Foreign Transactions Reporting Act, 31 U.S.C. 1101, et seq.). Failure to report the transportation of the reportable monetary instruments may result in seizure of the unreported instruments as well as imposition of civil and criminal penalties.
