1. I just went through the whole changing of address. It isn't difficult. I felt it was wise to do this. Earlier in the year, there was like a two week span between receiving P4, and the interview date for some other members. Given this information, I felt there might not be enough time, for the couple that took over my wifes apartment to mail it to her. We have had enough delays already. I would not be happy if the couple didn't send it to her. Or, even if they did, there wasn't enough time to accomplish all that is necessary. Just a thought. The way things have been going, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a two year time span between P4 and Interview All I know for sure is,,things change frequently. I'd hate to get caught with my pants down on this part of the process. Once again, just a thought. Good Luck on whatever you choose to do.
2. frankly, these are good questions.. and in the past, we tried to rely on data to determine this... if nooneufo reads, this, he could give the best historical answer based on data... But I agree we have to separate out CR1 vs the rest when we talk about some of this, as it will confuse matters more. --- Another few quotes from the consulate, which i do agree with and past data clearly shows us to be true.. but again, we have to remember this is K# visa types... I have seen it differently for CR1s... --- - The case is sent to GUZ, usually electronically and for K#s the namecheck usually starts (prior to GUZ getting the physical case). - When the physical case is received, it is entered into the computer (I'm following a K# example here.. I question whether CR1s get into the computer at this point or not; I see some differences in the data). - When P3 is received back at GUZ, that is entered in the computer (not sure if there is any delay to enter this if the namecheck is pending)... - At some point, the namecheck is completed.. historically, it appears that if a namecheck was done in expected timeframe, that one can use the P3 dates (sent back to GUZ) to determine (or predict) the interview... as if they start in some queue at the P3 stage (as opposed to a namecheck stage), as long as the namecheck does not have a delay... [again.. this is a K# example] clear as mud I assume... added: If a mod wants to break out the K# discussion going on here to another thread.. I know there is cross-visa-talk going on here.. 215848 NVC told me they were waiting for my K3 name check to be completed before sending the file to GUZ. A few days later, they confirmed the name check was complete and that they had sent the file to GUZ that day. 215853 Your wifes name check, and possibly another for you will be done after they receive the case in GUZ. At least that is how I've been reading this for a year now. Good Luck to you to Mike. 215860 Thanks, and that makes sense. I've seen several references to a "second name check" but USCONGUZ has commonly referred to "the name check". Maybe David could ask for clarification on those questions in his post to GUZ Speaks. 215863 Mike, for some reason, I have been thinking you were straight CR-1. I just noticed you have a K3 in the running also. I have only studied the CR-1 religiously. The name checks are a big one on the differences in timelines. K1/K3/Cr-1. It's all so confusing trying to keep up. There is a different difference between CR-1, and the K1 visas. But adding the K3, can really change things from what I've seen. It's all guess work
3. To make matters more confusing There can be a second name check at GUZ

5. Amen to that!!! Did they tell you what date Guz entered you into their computers? 215846 No! it's like pulling hind teeth to get answers. They know all the questions they will be asked. Yet, they leave it to us, to ask specific questions. It seems to me, since they already confirmed you are legitimate. They should read the screen, tell us where the dice are laying. What the heck, they know by the time they start answering our questions, that we are the petitioners. This is such a screwed up system. Believe me my fellow Americans, and soon to be. Not all agencies of our government is this bad. I guess we just need to have patience.
6. They're trying to keep all of the small Chinese female terrorists confused. If they told us everything, then the bad guys trying to do this legally would know all of their tricks.
7. Let's not confuse, CR-1 with other visa types Mafan, since you don't have a sig/timeline, and since you sent P3 to Guz, whereas we sent ours to NVC,,,Might make this a little confusing to you.
8. The difference might be on where you filed for the marriage. My wife is from Henan Province. I can never remember the spelling of the capital city. Zhengzhou? Zhengzhou? Anyhow, I can see where the same form from a given consulate, or embassy, might need additional documentation. From what I've read over the last year here. It seems to be easier, if you have a day or two, to obtain the cert in China. We made a good sight seeing trip around Beijing while accomplishing this task. For about $30 us, and 40 minutes . Life's an adventure, if you want it to be
9. Thanx for the replies fellas. I thought I had seen two or three people asking the same question a little earlier. They definitely have the case, as I was told today. That was after a direct question. After the lady told me,,she is eligible for interview, is when I asked about name check. I thought I had seen you guys say, you were told eligible for interview,,then something happened. I try not to get too excited anymore, until proof positive.
10. Actually, I went the second route in Beijing. I only received cert. in English. I had to have a translation prepared in town we got out marriage books. It took about 30 minutes at the embassy. I seem to think about $30 US. Then the translation took about 20 min. and about $13US....Good Luck
11. I called DOS today. I was told that as from May 4/06 Wife is eligible for interview. I was told they, Guz, had received some forms from wife in march. We both have faxed her address change. I re faxed again earlier this week, after emailing Guz. Anyway, I was told she had cleared some of the clearances, but not name check yet. Is this anything to be excited about, or human canned response? It seems I have seen this topic before, but couldn't find it in the search. Thanx in advance for all replies
12. from my understanding from our lawyer we were told that if VO asks if she plans on working in the US she is to say no... 215101 I don't understand why a lawyer would say that. Our So's will most certainly have the right to work. If you, and your So, decides other wise, so be it. I don't understand why a VO wouldn't want your wife to work either. They could probably care less, as long as the petitioner is above the guideline.
13. He, he, he, he, he, he, somebody said "bush"
14. I snore, and sleep with one eye open It doesn't make me a bad person
15. If the Consulate didn't go buy the Federal Standards of Poverty that they say they do,wouldn't that make them liable for fraud?
16. Bottom line, I'm sure there are explicit instructions on the actuall form, and it's instructions. That you have....Do try to have the most recent released forms. Take ten minutes, read the forms you have in your possession. It isn't Rocket Science... And look at my timeline,,of which was at NVC over the new year. It's you life...
17. You definitely need the last three years for CR-1. I might add, they didn't accept copies of my taxes,,they wanted real tax returns, and, they especially wanted the W2's I-184=last three current Tax returnes.
18. When I was a lad in the sixty's,,all the older folk in our area were convinced it was the space shots, screwing up the weather.
19. Yes I X*%*# the system. And Yes I truly do know the our government worker. I am retired from the US Marine Corps, and The department of the Navy. Thanks. 213308 OOOHHHH RRAAAHHH Semper Fi my friend
