  1. Wow, I just can't imagine a wait like that. tsap seui good one tsap
  2. Had the same problem. My wife got here about the time the credit crunch hit. She even got denied for a damn Macy's card. We did what Sam suggested. She has had it for about 6 months. We are gonna wait a bit longer and then she will apply for another card and maybe a small loan at some point. Other than adding her to your own accounts like Randy said, there is not much else you can do.
  3. Yea, talk about a catch 22. He would be screwed. Its fairly common for those with early interview times to get called to this window too.
  4. Come on guys, I was trying to make him sweat it out a little more. He seems too calm Ok, ok, time doesnt mean a thing Robert. Congrats.
  5. Generally they get the tough cases out of the way early so they can whip out the easy cases towards the end. Prepare well.
  6. The Japanese ramen place is further down past the IKEA if walking from the consulate, on the opposite side of the street. There is that waterfall thing and then you will find the bus stop/subway. It is on the street level near the pizza hut(?) I think it was a pizza hut. My hubby and I ate there I think 3 or 4 times! Good luck...just a few more days to go! Yep, xiaofeizhu is right. It is just past the pizza hut on the right I believe. We ate there several times. Get that pink Louis! Be sure to include good photo's of your body mass and make sure they know your right downstairs and you will be fine. If I was the VO I sure wouldn't wanna piss ya off
  7. You can wait right outside of the terminal 5 customs gate. In fact, there is even a little parking lot close to terminal 5 that you can park at. Edit: sorry, misread your post. No you cannot wait in the baggage area. first you clear customs, the get baggage, then clear your luggage through customs, then is the baggage terminal drop-off for connecting flights. right after that is the exit gate. You can wait right outside there.
  8. Wow, that was a good watch. It touches on a lot of subjects being discussed here at the moment. Thanks!
  9. At least you aren't Flying . Hilarious story. He sure made them pay.
  10. My wife got ripped off to the tune of about 2,000rmb doing this a couple years back. Another thing to keep in mind Danny is to keep your US bills is as good of condition as possible. Its not as bad as it used to be, but still some places can be picky and reject some bills for even the slightest markings or wrinkles. I have found that hotels are more lenient for me, but I am sure experiences of others vary.
  11. Bank is the best option if you are concerned about getting the best rate. But as Sam mentioned, sometimes the wait can be a bit much. It usually takes me about 30 minutes or so at the bank, not including the time in transit to the bank. Most hotels offer a very competitive rate to their guests, usually just a little bit less than banks. And exchanging at your hotel is much much more convenient You will usually get the worst exchange rate at the airport, and sometimes the wait can be just as long as the bank depending on what time of day. I usually do most of my exchanges at my hotel unless it is a large amount, then I might seek out a bank. And I always bring back some rmb with me to the states to take with me on my next trip to China so I dont have to mess around with exchanging money right away at the airport.
  12. Pretty hard to argue with that...at least until technology catches up to allow us to adapt and sustain ourselves more on less natural resource inputs.
  13. Not prudent to say this is NOT a red flag. I never said this WAS a red flag. I said it COULD possibly be considered a red flag by a VO so avoid doing so. #1 2 Immigration fraud is not just for the poor, destitute souls looking for opportunity. Lots of wealthy Chinese want to immigrate to USA. I know of 2 wealthy Chinese that are looking for a way to immigrate here at this moment. Max, I am not suggesting in any way that this is the situation in your case. But I am confident that this is a type of situation that they might think twice about if they happen to notice it, especially if the petitioner is not well off financially.
  14. I think he was pretty mild compared to some of his past remarks. He might be making some progress. Praise you.
  15. Haha, China considered it a mental illness until 2001. Thats funny.
  16. My wife had the opposite experience. She was the top English student in her high school class. The top student was to get admittance into the leading foreign language university (cant remember the name but it was in Beijing). Well, the person that got the ride was the #3 english student who also happened to be the daughter of a top level sichuan province official. At that time, my wife's dad was a low to mid level official in their county. There was nothing they could do about it. But the interesting thing is, 1 year later he was appointed director of Land and Housing bureau in their county, which is a pretty good gig. So maybe it worked out ok.
  17. Yet another unnecessary thing you are worrying about Robert. Several on here, myself included, have met our SO before our divorce was finalized. And most, if not all, got pink. And I understand your divorce was final for 3 months before you even met her. Therefore, I could not imagine this being even the slightest issue for concern.
  18. Dont sell yourself short. I dont think every parent would do that. I wouldnt have done it. As a guest in their country, I would have honored their rule and not wanted to make waves. I think a lot of people might not have had the courage to do what you did. And thats what makes it special. Good for you.
  19. Wow. And I mean wow wow wow. You got a bigger set than I, Larry.
  20. b.c
