  1. yeah ask tsap how easy immigration is. On the other hand, how many middle easterners with terror backgrounds have the CIA imported into this country? This country needs to come clean and focus on priorities of righteousness.
  2. My wife wore business casual. Yes I agree with Randy and Kyle. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, we are a very judgmental species and our appearance can certainly make an impression either pro or con. It certainly will not hurt to dress up a bit.
  3. Congrats Griz. Glad you made it through this period. Hope all is well for you and yours. Hard to believe its gonna be 2 years soon.

  5. If its now with DOS & USA legal system, better wait MANY years for any decision of course send many of thousands of $$$$$ to lawyers http://jasonjeffrey.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/awjeeznotthisshitagain.jpg
  6. WHY should China care for USA interests ? usa is destroying itself, why should we help? WE? Jin America is your adopted land now. What about us? Your posts about America are antagonistic and very flammable. Lighten it up a little. http://www.navyjack.info/i/wallpaper/1152x864.gif Former adopted land. They moved to China, Tony.
  7. A guy not responsible for any more than his fair share? Thats cute. Maybe in theory but certainly not in practice. I am in a very similar situation as Rob and I certainly feel his pain. Although I agree that this is a private matter, Rob has chosen to make this matter public on this forum in a couple different threads. The questions above are natural and understandable inquiries to some of his posts. You insinuate that Rob might be able to lower child support based on his recent employment/income developments. I dont see that happening. What he did would be considered as voluntary underemployment by the court and will not merit child support modification. Also most states have a 12 to 18 month moratorium after support has been modified before the matter can be brought back to the court for further modification. But, again, I dont think it would do him any good. It might even cost him more due to not having any regular visitation (weekends, etc) with them. But you're probably right that he is very capable of dealing with this. He seems like a good limey commie.
  8. Excellent point Larry. I had to spend a day in the hospital just west of Chengdu due to food poisoning/dehydration and it cost me 80RMB (exactly $11 at the time) and that included a weeks worth of medicine to go. Plus I was free to smoke as I wished
  9. Well, I am not so sure about that. But my brother, my sister-in-law and her family faced a similar situation. My sister in law was giving birth to their first child and she had complications during the birth. Doctors came out and said they might be able to save 1 of them and gave the family members 1 minute to decide which one had priority. Her family insisted on saving the child. They chose the child over their own daughter, mainly because they felt that would be what their daughter would want. As TLB said, most moms would want the kids saved first. Its generally our culture for kids to be put first in many things. This has caused quite a few arguments between me and my wife.
  10. Ok Jin, I would save kids first. I brought them into this world and it is my job to protect them and they are less developed and cant fend for themselves as much as an adult. Then I would go save wife and I would keep trying to save wife even if it meant drowning because if wife doesnt live then I dont want to either. Right, isnt this what chinese girls want to hear? I have been down this road before.
  11. I posted this in another thread recently. You will see that number drop even further for 2010. A family friend was a consulate worker in China and still keeps in contact with some there. Supposedly the approve rate for B visa's are running about 95% lately. Supposedly they have gotten more lenient in an attempt to booster tourism due to the economic situation.
  12. Spent lots of time in Shanghai. There is so much to see and do in shanghai that it would be best to pair it down by the interests of you and your girl. I am sure you can find plenty of ideas by using google. Here are some things I have done and enjoyed: - Bund area - going up into the oriental pearl tower (Bund area) - going up into the jinmao tower (very close to OPT. No need to do both. There is also a new bigger building right beside jinmao tower that I believe is open now. Going up into 1 of these 3 structures is really impressive. - a river boat cruise at night on the huangpu river (bund area) - guided bus tour - There is a haggen-daz in the bund area very close to the pearl tower that sits right on the river. My wife and I like to go there in the evening as long as its not too cold. Its relaxing and a bit romantic. You know what they say in China....if you love her then take her to haggen daz - Nanjing road. This is probably the most popular shopping and tourist street in China. Its nice to go just to see all the neon signs, etc. - Jing'an temple - Restaurants: I am not sure what interests you but there are 2 very good sports bars that serve very good american/western food close to jing'an temple. The names are Malones (They actually have 3 or 4 locations in Shanghai) and Big Bamboo. But there are plenty of very good restaurants of all kinds all over shanghai. If you give me more specific interests then I would be able to give better suggestions. But google should point you in the right direction.

    Driving in China

I dont have a license but I have driven in and around Chengdu many times. Its a trip. An adrenaline pumping thrill ride to be sure. I love it, absolutely love it. Lots of fun. The best way I can describe driving over there is organized chaos. Basically, no rules are followed in most situations but its effective and efficient for many. Heed Dons advice however....if an accident occurs then a settlement is usually negotiated right there on the spot, even Law enforcement might get involved in the negotiations. Laowai better prepare to be bent over. FYI, I believe a new law passed in China last year that allows american drivers license to operate a vehicle in China for the first month of visit. I am pretty certain my wife told me this but I will check and confirm. I say go for it. Enjoy life and have fun. Its a hell of an experience. But be careful.
  15. Bzzzt ... wrong answer. Try: A month after they've been added as joint account holders.
  16. I have it on good word directly from a former american consulate worker in China that 95% of B2's are being approved at this time. The reason is to help with tourism and economy. I have full confidence in my source.
  17. It depends. Is it a US based phone with US plan? Or is it China cp with Sim card? If it is US based phone/plan then it can be very expensive. I think it cost me about $1 per text on my first trip several years ago. But then I found that Verizon has an international texting plan that is very inexpensive. iirc, its $10 per month plus .20 per text or something or maybe even much less. I dont pay much attention to my bill since then but my impression was that it was very reasonable. If it is a china based phone then you can get sim cards that have extremely cheap SMS rates to USA. iirc, it only cost my wife about .25rmb (4 to 5 cents) per text.
  18. Haha I was just messin with ya. Best not to kiss and tell. B) Have a great time and enjoy it. Lots to experience...even outside of the bedroom. Yes as Chris said, be preparing yourself for meeting the parents. Its a very big deal.
  19. Indeed, that was the best and most informative, interesting and touching posts I have read on here. I couldnt agree more with the content as well. Tsappy, thank you on many levels. I wish you continued peace and happiness in your life. You certainly deserve it.
  20. In regards to Eurpoean travel, you can visit most EU countries by obtaining just one visa. It applies for most of them. I dont believe it covers UK though.
  21. No offense, and take it FWIW, I call BS on that. From what I have witnessed and experienced, there is not much of a gap between american and chinese girls in this area these days. I just dont buy that a 21 yo has never kissed a guy. But even if I am correct, it still may not mean much.
