  2. I think you will find it is a hit or miss situation. Some have received the card going the automatic form route in a short period of time and others waited and waited and finally just went to the social security office and applied for it there.
  3. Question about when to send the I 751. My wife was issued her visa CR-1) in Dec 09, Being that she had the visa for less than 30 days before the year changed, we should send the I 751 in during the month of Sept. 2011 or 2012? The other question is how long after submitting the I 751 until they nitify you of an interview date, reason being if we must submit it in Sept 2011 we will be in China for her mother's 90th birthday. I will return to the US in about two weeks after the celebration and my wife will remain a longer to visit. We just want to be sure she is back in the US if we must go for an interview. Thanks, Gary
  4. I've read the posts about keeping your visa current, and it doesn't seem that difficult. My question about spending an extended time, perhaps living in China permantely? I have heard that there is no real health insurance availabe for most Chinese, and that it is more a pay up front for any medical issuses. I'm talking about major things such as operations,ie. heart, lung, kidney operations. I've heard that in some cases, the entire family has had to contribute their savings to help pay for a family member to get treatment, pretty much exhausting any sayings the family members had. Is there some type of health insurance that a person can purchase? I'm thinking blue cross and blue shield is going to end for most who retire here in the states then move to another country, and I don't think Chinese hospitals accept medicare. There must be some company that offers health insurance to ex-pats. I realize that health care is not as good in some areas of China, but I would think in the major cities they would have decent health care, as many of the Doctors have gone to school in the US or European countries and returned to China to set up their medical practice. Has any one experienced this or looked into health care if you move to another country? Thanks, Gary
  5. I believe that answer is partly correct, the Ins. co. can not use your social security number on your insurance card, but need your social security number to link you to the policy through the number on the ins. card. Especially for a spouse, if the policy is not in their name.
  6. CONGRATS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Sorry to hear about the harassment your wife is dealing with at work. First of all it is her supervisor's problem. He is the first person who should have put an end to this by talking with this other woman and explaining that what she is doing to your wife is harassment and that she could lose her job it if continues. This seemes to be what happened all the way to the V.P. (who if had any brains or training in human resources) would know this could cause big problems for not only the woman who is harassing your wife, but any company official who was involved,(meaning they knew of the issue) but did nothing to resolve other than let it be passed on to the next person higher up, and kind of washed their hands in the matter. I don't think you need a Chinese speaking lawyer, if your wife can explain simply what has been going on. She is being harassed in her work place by another employee. She has the right to work with out being harassed by another employee, supervisor or any one else she works with. Depending on the state, not only could this woman who is doing the harassment but any supervisor found to have not acted properly to stop this issue could be terminated. I am no lawyer, but I have been around enough companies to see these things happen and what can happen to those incharge not doing their jobs to end the harassment. Having as much proof as you can on this is helpful, so it doesn't turn into a she said she said. If other employess have heard this woman speak to your wife this way any thing that your wife told the supervisors up to the V.P. would help strengthen your case. I wish your wife luck, no one deserves to be treated this way.
  12. You might want to have her check the prices in China. My wife found lower rates buying her ticket from Chongqing to JFK buying the ticket in China, though she came in March. It's worth a try.
  13. It's probably just whatever she used to hold her hair back for the photo.
