I was joking with the lady from NVC today and offered to deliver my own documents to GZ since I will be there in March, and somehow she just didn't have the sense of humor I was hoping for. Oh well. I have been waiting for almost 4 weeks now and today I called the NVC and they told me they were finally sending our paperwork to the GZ waiting line. I offered to take them with me since I will be leaving in 2 weeks but they would have nothing to do with that. It might screw things up not sitting in "customs for a month". My first time to China to visit my sweetie we went to Guangzhou to the consulate just to ask questions and was told it was a good idea to sign in there and then they know you are serious about getting married. Also they will have proof that you were there together.
